Journey to the West: Black Six Ears
024. Fixed Plan
Early the next morning.
Tiger Vanguard left the cave with his knife and began his day's patrol.
Kicking away a few trembling little monsters that saw him, Tiger Vanguard walked towards the edge of Yellow Wind Ridge.
Today's breakfast must be blood and meat.
Tiger Vanguard is an expert in hunting.
He personally hunts and kills whatever he wants to eat, such as rabbits, deer, tigers, and leopards. Compared to those lesser demons, Tiger Vanguard is far superior.
However, with the increase in monsters in Huangfeng Ridge, the animals in this area have recently been almost all eaten up.
"That yellow-haired rat actually forbids me from eating people, ugh!"
Tiger Vanguard's mouth watered at the thought of the smell of human flesh, and he couldn't help but lick his lips.
However, the thought that the Yellow Wind Monster actually forbade eating human flesh made his expression turn sinister.
But soon, he laughed again:
"Once I devour Tang Sanzang, you Yellow Wind Monster will have to obediently leave this place. At that time, Yellow Wind Ridge will be my Tiger Vanguard's domain."
This was the condition that Bodhisattva gave him.
If he wants to become the king who controls Huangfeng Ridge, he has to do it.
Tiger Vanguard thought he could do it. What skills could a monk from the East, with only mortal flesh, possibly have?
"I wonder when that monk will arrive."
Tiger Vanguard left Huangfeng Ridge, intending to go to a nearby village for a feast.
But then he suddenly noticed two people appearing not far away.
"what?"
Tiger Vanguard rubbed his eyes.
It's rare to see someone coming this way at a time like this.
"Good food has arrived today."
It turned out that one of the two was a monk riding a horse and wearing a Vairocana hat, and the other was an ugly apprentice leading the horse. They were unknowingly walking towards Huangfeng Ridge.
The two looked travel-worn, as if they had come from a very distant place.
These two were naturally chosen by Tiger Vanguard.
However, Tiger Vanguard was not stupid. Although he was not afraid of others, he was afraid of Yellow Wind Monster's three-pronged steel fork, which was a great monster that could beat him half to death in one move.
If the two of them were related to that Yellow Wind Monster, he really wouldn't be able to make a move.
Tiger Vanguard's eyes darted around, and a plan came to mind.
And look, the master sat on his horse, and the disciple held the reins, as the two walked into Huangfeng Ridge.
Suddenly, from the foot of the hillside, a striped tiger leaped out with its tail and hooves out.
The monk couldn't sit still and tumbled off the white horse. His disciple was also trembling with fear and dared not raise his head.
Seeing this, Tiger Vanguard sneered, stood up straight, swung his left front paw, grabbed his own chest, and with a splatter, peeled off his skin, standing by the roadside.
Look at his wicked face!
A bloodied, naked body, with grotesquely red, bent legs. Flame-like, disheveled temples, and sharply raised, menacing eyebrows. Four gleaming white steel teeth, and a pair of gleaming golden eyes. He roared fiercely, shouting in a triumphant, powerful voice:
"Wait! Our party is none other than the vanguard of the Yellow Wind King's forces. We are here on the King's strict orders to patrol the mountains and capture a few ordinary people to serve as offerings for the feast. Where did you come from, monk?"
"Please let Your Majesty know that we are monks from the Great Tang Dynasty in the East. We are just passing through this blessed land. Please allow us, master and disciple, to go to the Western Paradise to obtain the scriptures."
The monk who had fallen from his horse spoke, his face filled with fear.
This Tiger Vanguard has gotten himself all bloody and messy; it's terrifying to look at.
Seeing his expression, Tiger Vanguard chuckled to himself.
It's finally here!
Without a word, the monster rushed forward and grabbed the two of them.
"Enough with the nonsense! My king wants to eat people, so where do you think you're going to get the audacity to refuse?"
Having said that, Tiger Vanguard transformed into a whirlwind, sweeping the two away.
In mid-air, the monk continued to struggle and say:
"I heard that the King of Huangfeng Ridge has ordered that no one should eat living people. I just came to Huangfeng Ridge. How can the King break his promise?"
Tiger Vanguard burst into laughter upon hearing this.
These two were both ordinary monks, easily killed with a single slap, so he wasn't afraid to say anything:
"Let you two die knowing why. Right now, Huangfeng Ridge has the Great King Huangfeng, but in a few days, it will only have me, the Great King Hu. What nonsense about not eating living people? I'm going to eat them anyway, and I'll eat them to my heart's content."
Having said that, Tiger Vanguard raised his palm and pressed it down on the Second Monk.
The Bodhisattva had said that as long as the monks on their pilgrimage were killed, he could do whatever he wanted with this place.
After killing Tang Sanzang, he would throw the body to the Yellow Wind Demon, and then the rest would be none of his business.
"King Yellow Wind, am I mistaken?"
Suddenly, the monk's fear vanished, leaving only a smile.
The other monk, who had been cowering and silent the whole time, raised his head and revealed his true face.
"Tiger Vanguard, you have truly betrayed me."
Tiger Vanguard was terrified when he saw it.
This guy is no monk at all; he's clearly the Yellow Wind King.
As for the other creature, it now revealed its true form—it was a monkey.
Both of these monks were fake!
Tiger Vanguard didn't have time to think about who the monkey was. He was covered in sweat and stood in front of Yellow Wind King, looking rather weak.
"I, I..."
Seeing his reaction, the Yellow Wind King's disappointment deepened.
It was precisely Tiger Vanguard's performance that made Yellow Wind King certain of one thing.
What the Six-Eared Macaque said was true; the Bodhisattva Lingji had indeed arranged these backup plans around him.
Tiger Vanguard killed Tang Sanzang and then brought him here; this was a trap for him.
"He can't kill Tang Sanzang; he'll only be killed by Tang Sanzang's disciples."
Sun Qiong laughed heartily, dismissing Huang Feng Da Wang's idea with disdain.
Tiger Vanguard can only fight against the likes of Pigsy; when he encounters Monkey King, he is no match at all.
Because they knew that Tiger Vanguard could not kill Tang Sanzang, the conditions that Lingji Bodhisattva agreed to for Tiger Vanguard could only be false from the very beginning.
"Why do you say that?"
The Yellow Wind King's gaze toward Sun Qiong was less scrutinizing at this moment, but he was not completely off guard either.
Sun Qiong was well aware that this trivial matter was far from enough to gain the trust of King Huangfeng.
"I am that monkey's inner demon. You need to think about how an inner demon can become a calamity?"
"So that's how it is. That Monkey King was the disciple chosen by the Bodhisattva for Tang Sanzang."
King Yellow Wind then realized what was happening.
If Sun Wukong were as cunning as this monkey in front of him, the mere Tiger Vanguard would truly be no match for him.
"Now, as long as you kill Tiger Vanguard, you can avoid this Journey to the West."
Sun Qiong's words caused Huang Fengguai's expression to stiffen slightly.
He lowered his head, looking at the Tiger Vanguard he was carrying, and fell into deep thought.
What the monkey said was true. If he were to get involved in this Journey to the West, he would probably cause a lot of trouble. He might be able to return to Mount Ling, but even if he did, he would still be locked up in the Buddhist hall at the foot of the mountain.
That's not the life he wants.
"If you can help me, we will become brothers, and I, King Huangfeng, will never let you down."
Soon, Huang Fengguai made up his mind and pointed his gaze directly at Sun Qiong.
The Yellow Wind Monster once lived on Mount Ling, so he had some understanding of its intricacies.
Now that Bodhisattva Lingji has taken action, it means that King Yellow Wind cannot avoid this calamity.
If we can't avoid it, then there's only one thing to do next.
You must never let yourself be tricked into entering the Journey to the West Tribulation; instead, you must choose your own way to enter.
"Can."
Sun Qiong nodded without hesitation.
He needs the help of the Yellow Wind King to deal with the Bodhisattva Lingji.
"Good brother, tell me what we should do next."
King Huangfeng laughed heartily, patted Sun Qiong on the shoulder, and asked.
Sun Qiong thought for a moment and gave her answer:
"Our first priority is to ensure your fighting strength so that we can deal with Sun Wukong. Therefore, we must take care of Lingji Bodhisattva first."
King Yellow Wind nodded and pointed due south, saying:
"Since we need to deal with Bodhisattva Lingji, the only way is to lure him out."
Just as he was about to ride the wind, Sun Qiong suddenly reached out and stopped him.
Amidst the Yellow Wind King's bewildered expression, Sun Qiong pointed to Tiger Vanguard, who lay on the ground, half-dead from the fright of the Yellow Wind King:
"No, you don't need to go. We have this guy on hand, don't we?"
