Unexpected romance
Chapter 16 Granting One Person Favor
Every morning, my thoughts of you never cease, even if it's just a brief greeting message.
"Good morning!" accompanied by a sun.
"Good morning, I'm a little tired, I'll sleep a little longer!" Every day at 7:30, Shang would get up to check his messages first, because he knew she would definitely send him one.
"You went to bed very late last night, didn't you? I know that!" Shang nodded; there were some things he couldn't hide from anyone.
"I should be leaving around 11 o'clock, I'm so sorry to leave you alone this afternoon!"
"fine!"
Shang arrived at the restaurant and stood on the lakeside dock, facing the surging waves. His longing grew stronger, so he filmed a short video to record his current situation.
"It's beautiful, is that the sea?"
"No, it's a lake. It's eerily quiet around there!"
"Oh, you just focus on your meal first, we'll talk when you're done!"
"Okay!" Shang exited the chat, but kept glancing at the other side of the screen. The moment the screen lit up, he couldn't wait to pick up his phone. It was a message from Yu Sheng, filled with peach blossoms.
"The peaches will be ready in a few months!"
"Yeah, when I was little, I loved going to people's fields to pick peaches, and I'd even be chased around by them!"
"Haha!" Yu Sheng laughed, and not only her, but Shang himself also laughed, as if he had returned to his childhood.
"Playing games?"
"Hmm!" Yu Sheng sent a picture of her room, but the room name was a bit...
Looking for a handsome guy?
"No, I got disconnected!"
"Why am I so happy when you disconnect!"
Yu Sheng sent a laughing emoji.
"We're not joking, are we?"
"Yes, that's for sure."
"I'm so happy that you care about me!"
Upon seeing Yu Sheng's reply, Shang didn't know what to think. When she saw the room name, she felt quite flustered and didn't know whether she should remind her as her lover. She even felt secretly pleased when Yu Sheng said she was offline.
"I have a dinner party tonight, so I'll try to be online before 8 PM!"
"Okay!"
"What are you doing?"
"Pulling up scallions from the field, getting ready to make pancakes!"
"A pancake?" Shang looked at the photo and, for some reason, really wanted to try it, even though it was all just his imagination.
That night, after drinking too much, Shang became a little tipsy, but he still remembered his promise to her, so he returned home as quickly as he could, as if it were something important that he urgently needed to do.
After logging in, the two went to Qiqi's room. The other four seats were also full: Xi, Liuxing, Chixin, Qiqi, and the one he deeply loved.
"Give me the DJ!" Shang took the DJ and tried to jump the numbers, but he could never get past that number. His performance plummeted. Despite his efforts, reality kept hitting him hard. Finally, he gave up because the agreed time had arrived.
"It's time to sleep!"
"I won't sleep, I'll stay with you!"
"Okay!" Shang chose a song, wanting to dance for her one last time at the last moment, but the outcome was still the same, he didn't get to dance it even once.
"Go to sleep!"
"Hmm!" Yu Sheng went offline, but she didn't receive the love he gave her. She must have felt very disappointed.
"Asleep?"
"without!"
As Shang stared at his phone screen, his longing for her seemed to grow stronger.
"I can't sleep either, what are you doing?"
"Nothing much, just missing you!"
Shang smiled, realizing that he was no different. Their conversation continued until after 11 p.m.
"I really should go to sleep, or I'll turn into a panda!"
"Okay, okay, I'm going to sleep now!"
After Yu Sheng logged off, Shang didn't fall asleep for a long time. Although she had drunk a lot the day before, she woke up unusually early, around 7 a.m., as if she had set an alarm clock. And Yu Sheng's greeting arrived as promised.
Good morning, my man!
Good morning!
"There was a storm yesterday, and we lost power at home today. My phone only has 24% battery left, so I'm still quite worried!"
"What are you worried about?" Shang stared at the phone screen in confusion. Although he had already guessed what was going on, some words would have a different meaning if they were said by her in person.
"I'm afraid I won't see your messages, and I won't be able to reply. I'm afraid we'll lose contact!"
"Haha!" Shang sent a laughing emoji.
"Please allow me to disappear for now, the kind where no one can find me, until you find me!" After saying this, Shang remained silent and stopped replying to anything, focusing intently on his work. He filled the entire afternoon with activities, leaving no time to miss her.
Sure enough, time flies when you're working like crazy. By the time I got home, it was already dark. After finally finishing dinner, I found my phone still lying there quietly.
"Still no call?" Shang logged into the game to check, but found nothing, so he logged off early.
An emoji that read "Hold you tight" appeared on the phone screen, sent by Yu Sheng.
"Finally, the power's back on!"
"I've finally waited for you!"
Just one day of being out of contact has stirred up so much longing and anticipation; it's almost funny to think about it now.
In his spare time, Shang would open the karaoke platform. When he first entered the platform, he searched through all his contacts but couldn't find Yu Sheng's account. However, she was able to find him immediately after he logged on. Shang opened her portfolio and found several songs that he really liked, songs that she had sent him before.
Her singing voice was very powerful. I remember in the game, Qiqi asked Yu Sheng to sing a few songs in the group, but Shang ruthlessly refused.
"Exclusively for you, thank you!" The tone was domineering and left no room for argument.
Is this considered jealousy? Shang didn't know. Even though he knew Yu Sheng loved to sing, he would still refuse when asked to sing.
The longer they spent together, the more they felt an intense, inseparable bond. Upon waking, he couldn't help but want to greet her. Whenever he had a moment to himself at work, images of her filled his mind. Shang almost always replied to Yu Sheng's greetings immediately, unless there were special circumstances, such as… forgetting his phone…
In the game, when there are only two people, they can speak freely, but when there are a group of people together, Shang will respond with silence more often. He prefers to stay in a corner by himself. It's not that he can't fit in, but that he doesn't want to. If needed, he can become any character, but there is no one he cares about.
Yu Sheng had previously told Shang, "After being with you for so long, I suddenly cried, suddenly laughed, suddenly became silly..."
The same applies to Shang now; his IQ is also on a downward trend, and there's no bottom to it.
"Actually, you like playing with everyone, right? I can tell you're very happy!" Shang asked herself, wondering if she was being too selfish sometimes, confining her to a room with only the two of them. Maybe she was getting tired of it!
