Top student: All my teachers are academic whizzes!

Chapter 3: You want to learn? I'll teach you!

"March 2009? Are you sure?"

On the textbook, a line of handwriting appeared hastily, the strokes trembling with disbelief.

Clearly, the time difference in their perceptions was a shocking thing for both Han Chuan and Ge Jun.

One was in March 2009, and the other was in August 2007.

The two-and-a-half-year time difference is enough to prove that the two are not in the same world at all—at least in their own perception, that is the truth.

After all, even the most significant time differences on Earth could not possibly be several years apart!

"Of course I'm sure!"

Han Chuan nodded firmly, looked up at the round clock hanging above the blackboard, and said with certainty, "It is now 8:15 PM on March 5, 2009."

After a brief pause, he pressed on, "Teacher Ge, can you see or sense the outside world through this book? For example, the time displayed on the clock on the blackboard."

The words on the textbook paused, as if concentrating to perceive them.

After a moment, the dancing text slowly replied: "No, my range of perception is very small. I can only communicate with you and perceive the knowledge in this book."

......

Ge Jun described the space he was in and the range he could perceive, while Han Chuan recalled what he had experienced before summoning him.

The two pieced together fragmented clues to understand what force brought people from two different worlds together in a math textbook.

Finally, Ge Jun sighed and revealed his handwriting.

"So, you're saying that what summoned me from this textbook was something you did while you were completely absorbed in reading???"

Han Chuan: "That's about it."

Aside from reading, he couldn't think of any other factors that might have influenced the matter.

Of course, we'll find out if it's true or not after trying it again later.

If this really is his cheat code, and it originated from him, there's no reason why he could only summon Ge Jun.

He could try looking at books written by other people, if he could actually do that...

Just thinking about it made Han Chuan excited.

If he could really do that, he might have the most comprehensive teacher in the world!

Whether it's mathematics, physics, or any other subject...

As for whether Ge Jun came from another parallel world, the two ultimately did not reach a conclusion.

But Han Chuan felt that it might not be so.

If his speculation is correct, Ge Jun's appearance may simply be a flash of inspiration left behind by the author when writing this book.

Or perhaps it's like the "spirit of a weapon" in a fantasy novel, a glimmer of wisdom left behind by teacher Ge Jun after he completed compiling this "Compulsory Mathematics Course 8" in August 2003.

His "golden touch" is probably the ability to trigger this flash of wisdom and make it manifest when he is fully focused.

"Oh well, what's done is done."

A new line of text appeared in the textbook: "How we came from another world is not important; whether we can go back to the future is something we'll only know."

"As for now..."

The handwriting moved swiftly across the paper, carrying a sense of detachment that seemed to have seen through the ways of the world, before quickly reverting to the sharp-tongued expression of disappointment and frustration.

"The important thing is, your current foundation is so bad it's beyond my comprehension!"

"That easy multiple-choice question was the first one in high school; anyone who has taken a middle school math class wouldn't have gotten it wrong."

"You dare to directly take the square root of x=y?"

"My textbook clearly states the range of real numbers, and you haven't memorized a single word of it, have you?"

Looking at the words dancing across the textbook, Han Chuan's cheeks flushed, and he awkwardly pursed his lips, unable to refute them.

Having worked like a slave for over a decade, he had no idea what these things were.

Moreover, he forgot all the high school knowledge he had learned from his high school teachers the day he finished the college entrance exam.

After being reborn, my mind was empty, and I had forgotten so much that even the most basic junior high school knowledge was completely blurred.

I was doing the problem almost entirely on intuition and didn't even consider the possibility of negative numbers.

Of course, Han Chuan didn't tell Ge Jun about the rebirth, even if the other party might just be a "spirit of an artifact".

"Ahem... I forgot about that." Somewhat embarrassed, Han Chuan muttered an excuse.

"Forgot?"

The floating text suddenly thickened, carrying an undisguised mockery.

"You don't even understand the concepts of true and false problems from junior high, or negative and real numbers. You rely entirely on guessing to solve problems, and you still can't guess correctly. I think you've not just forgotten, your brain is completely blank!"

"What kind of nonsense is going on in your head?"

Looking at the words floating on the textbook, Han Chuan was immediately speechless, feeling deeply hurt.

After a moment of silence, he looked up at the glowing words, his tone becoming serious: "Teacher Ge, I know I have a poor foundation and a low starting point, but even if my brain rusts, even if I have to start from scratch, I don't want to give up!"

In my past life, I scored just over 400 on the college entrance exam, ending up at a third-rate university. After graduation, I drifted around, working as a salesperson, food deliveryman, courier, and Didi driver. I toiled away for half my life, and at 35, I had accomplished nothing. My bank account only had a meager amount of savings, and I didn't even dare to start a family.

At the moment he was hit by the dump truck, his only thought was that if he could do it all over again, he would study hard and change his fate.

Ge Jun in the textbook seemed to sense the tenacity in his tone, and the floating words fell silent for a while, the originally sharp and sarcastic strokes softening a bit.

After a long pause, new handwriting slowly appeared: "So you plan to rely on rote memorization, repeatedly studying the textbooks, and gradually picking up the knowledge you've lost?"

Han Chuan nodded and said, "That's the only way. I'm not smart, I don't have any talent. What others can understand after one viewing, I can understand after ten or a hundred viewings."

After a moment of hesitation, a line of text reappeared on the book, as if sighing.

"The brute-force method works, but it's too slow."

Ge Jun's handwriting was crisp and straightforward: "You are currently in the second semester of your junior year of high school, and there is only one and a half years left until the college entrance examination."

"Judging from the basics of your problem-solving, your current level is at most junior high school level, or even lower."

"If you start from scratch and study according to your own method, even if you try your best, you can barely get into an ordinary second-tier university."

In short, it accurately pinpointed Han Chuan's biggest anxiety.

After a long silence, he spoke with a hint of confusion and helplessness, "What can I do? I can't even understand the simplest things like true/false propositions and sets anymore. I'm getting even the easy questions wrong. My brain is completely blank."

He was well aware that his methods were clumsy and inefficient, but he had no other choice but to persevere.

A faint light shone on the textbook, and a line of large characters slowly emerged, carrying an undeniable certainty.

"You want to learn?"

"I'll teach you!"
