Primordial Era: The Sun Emperor

Chapter 43: The Lich War

The Celestial Court's top combat forces have all been committed to the battle.

However, the Wu tribe still has five ancestral witches who have no rivals.

Zhurong, Gonggong, Rushou, Jumang, and Shebishi, the five ancestral witches, moved through the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation as if it were empty, fighting their way through with great relish.

Flames surged around Zhu Rong, burning the demon soldiers to ashes wherever he went.

A cold wave surged beneath Gonggong's feet, freezing the demon soldiers into ice sculptures wherever it passed.

Ru Shou wields gold, his killing intent at its peak. With a wave of his hand, ten thousand swords are unleashed, piercing through countless demons.

Jumang held the tree in his hand, and vines rose from the sea, entangling and strangling the demon race.

The corpse of Shebi was surrounded by poisonous mist, which made the demon race turn pale at the mere mention of it. Those whose cultivation was not at the Taiyi level would perish on the spot upon hearing it.

Wherever they went, rivers of blood flowed and corpses littered the fields.

Every time a group of people die in the Great Array of Ten Thousand Immortals, a new group of people will take their place.

Unceasingly, wave after wave, they used their own flesh and blood to deplete the strength of the witch army.

This is a war of attrition.

The Celestial Court is trading human lives for time, and for the Witch Clan to tire themselves out.

After fighting for a while, Zhu Rong frowned and said, "Why can't we kill all these demons?"

Gonggong coldly replied, "They are wearing us down with their lives. As long as the formation remains unbroken, the people inside will continue to be replenished."

"What should we do then?"

"Keep killing," Gonggong said expressionlessly. "Let's see how many of them can fill the gap."

The casualties among the lower-class witch tribesmen are also increasing at an alarming rate.

The divine beams of light from the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation were constantly reaping the lives of the Wu Clan soldiers.

Those Wu tribe men who charged at the forefront were pierced by beams of light and fell into pools of blood before they even had a chance to swing their weapons.

On the sea, the corpses of the witch clan floated in a thick layer, their blood staining the vast blue waves red.

But the Wu tribe continued their charge.

Since the ancestral witches did not give the order to retreat, they will not retreat.

Meanwhile, in the Heavenly Court, on the thirty-third heaven.

Above the Lingxiao Palace, Taiyi sat high on the imperial throne, his golden eyes half-closed, as if he were resting.

Inside the hall, the courtiers stood on both sides, their figures gleaming like stars, creating a solemn and imposing atmosphere.

However, the atmosphere today was completely different from usual. The star lords whispered among themselves, discussing amongst themselves, their eyes occasionally glancing towards the East Sea, their expressions showing a hint of urgency.

The battle in the East China Sea is now being displayed on a mirror.

The Wu tribe launched a massive eastward expedition with an army of tens of millions, while the Celestial Court held fast to the Three Immortal Islands. The two sides fought a fierce battle in the East China Sea for several days, causing the heavens and earth to tremble.

This was the largest battle in the primordial world since the Dragon-Han Calamity, and both the Divine Court and the Immortal Court poured all their resources into it.

Taibai Xingjun stepped forward, cupped his hands, and said, "Your Majesty, the war in the East Sea is fierce, with the Wu tribe and the Celestial Court locked in a fierce battle."

The twelve ancestral witches of the Witch Clan unleashed their combined army of tens of millions, pressing in on the border; the Celestial Court, relying on the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation, held its ground, resulting in a stalemate and heavy casualties on both sides.

Taiyi hummed in response, without opening his eyes.

Taibai Xingjun hesitated for a moment, then said, "Your Majesty, I believe this is a golden opportunity."

The two tigers, the Witch Clan and the Celestial Court, are locked in a fierce battle. Regardless of who wins or loses, both will suffer heavy losses.

If the Heavenly Court were to send troops now, first destroying the Celestial Court, then attacking the Divine Court, wiping out both forces in one fell swoop, then the entire primordial world would belong to Your Majesty!

Upon hearing this, the hall immediately fell silent.

All the star lords' gazes fell upon Taiyi, awaiting the Heavenly Emperor's response.

Taiyi slowly opened his eyes, his golden pupils showing neither sorrow nor joy, revealing no emotion.

"Oh?" he said calmly. "Taibai, do you think I should send troops?"

Taibai Xingjun's spirits lifted, and he was about to continue speaking when Taiyi raised his hand to stop him.

"Wait a minute." Taiyi's gaze swept over the assembled officials in the hall. "Anyone else who thinks this way, step forward."

There was a moment of silence in the hall, then more than a dozen star lords stepped forward.

The Mars Star Lord and Jupiter Star Lord from the Five Luminaries, several of the Big Dipper Star Lords, and some star officials from the Taiyi Golden Immortal Realm, all bowed and said, "We second your proposal! We beseech Your Majesty to send troops!"

Taiyi looked at these people, a slight smile playing on his lips.

"Is there anything else?"

No one moved inside the hall.

Some of the star lords who did not step forward were deep in thought, some had their eyes lowered, and some were quietly observing the Heavenly Emperor's expression.

Taiyi's gaze fell on Emperor Ziwei, who stood at the head of the military generals, his expression calm. He neither stood up to second the motion nor spoke out in opposition.

"Ziwei, what do you think?" Taiyi asked.

Emperor Ziwei bowed slightly and said calmly, "Your Majesty, I believe it is too early to send troops now."

Taibai Xingjun frowned: "Why does Your Majesty say this? The Witch Clan and the Celestial Court are both severely weakened; this is the best time to send troops. If we wait until one side wins and consolidates its power, it will be much more difficult to deal with them later!"

Emperor Ziwei shook his head: "What Fellow Daoist Taibai said is based on the premise that the Wu Clan and the Celestial Court will both suffer heavy losses."

However, in my view of the East Sea battle situation, although the Celestial Court relies on formations to defend itself, its top combat strength is far inferior to that of the Witch Clan.

Five of the twelve Ancestral Witches had not yet exerted their full strength, and the Great Witch of the Witch Clan was invincible.

If the Heavenly Court were to send troops at this time, the Witch Clan could easily turn their attention to the Heavenly Court and join forces against Heaven.

At that point, the Heavenly Court would become the target of everyone's anger.

Taibai Xingjun was about to argue when Taiyi raised his hand to interrupt him.

That's enough.

Taiyi's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable authority.

The hall fell silent instantly; you could hear a pin drop.

Taiyi rose, stood with his hands behind his back before the imperial throne, his golden eyes gazing out of the palace, his gaze piercing through the clouds and the void, his eyes making no attempt to conceal his gaze as he stared directly at the East Sea.

"Taibai, I understand your thoughts." Taiyi spoke slowly, his voice as loud as the sun and the bell, saying, "I have considered taking this opportunity to wipe out the two forces and unify the prehistoric world."

The courtiers inside the hall held their breath in concentration.

"But..." Tai paused, a deep glint flashing in his golden eyes, and said, "Now is not the time."

He turned around, his gaze sweeping over the assembled officials, and said, word by word, "This is the inevitable course of Heaven; you will all understand in the future."

If the Heavenly Court were to intervene now, it might indeed be able to sweep away the Divine Court and the Heavenly Court, but Hongjun would not allow it.

The karmic burdens between heaven and earth have not accumulated to a sufficient degree, and neither the Heavenly Dao nor Hongjun will allow the Lich King to come to an end here.

In essence, a great calamity is a process of settling karmic debts for the universe.

For Hongjun, it meant even more.

Although the ministers did not understand the meaning of these words, they all unconditionally trusted Taiyi and his group.

Taibai Xingjun looked ashamed and bowed, saying, "Your Majesty's wisdom and foresight are beyond our reach."

Taiyi waved his hand: "Alright. You're all doing this for the sake of Heaven, so I won't blame you. Continue watching the battle; this good show can't be staged every now and then."

"Yes!" the ministers responded in unison.

Taiyi sat back on the throne, his golden eyes gazing towards the East Sea, a faint smile playing on his lips.

The bloody battle continues in the East China Sea.

The five ancestral witches, like five sharp knives, charged left and right through the Great Array of Ten Thousand Immortals, leaving rivers of blood in their wake.

However, the Ten Thousand Immortals Formation remained standing, and they were unable to penetrate the island.

Fuxi's zither music never stopped; his fingers were bleeding, and the strings were stained with blood.

His face was as pale as paper, but his eyes remained resolute.

He is the Demon Emperor, the core of the Myriad Immortals Formation. If he falls, the formation will break.
