Immediately, Zhunti transmitted a message to the Tathagata of Many Treasures, instructing him to emulate Zhao Gongming of the Jie Sect and create Buddhist precepts to regulate the behavior of his disciples.

In his view, most of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in Buddhism today are converted from followers of Western religions.

Since the sage instructed me to emulate Zhao Gongming, in order to maximize my own interests, the precepts I set for myself this time naturally cannot be more lenient than those of Zhao Gongming.

As for how establishing precepts might elicit reactions from the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in Buddhism, in the Buddha's view, that's not a big deal.

Thinking of this, the Tathagata immediately proclaimed to the Buddhist community: "Amitabha, this humble monk, the Tathagata World Honored One, today, out of gratitude to the Buddhist community, establishes the Ten Precepts to return to the Buddha's teachings and conduct!"

First, refrain from killing; do not kill any living being!

The second prohibition is against lust and immorality; one must not entertain lustful thoughts!

The third precept is not to lie: Do not speak falsehoods, especially major falsehoods—claiming enlightenment when one has not attained it.

The fourth prohibition is abstaining from alcohol: and avoiding contact with substances that intoxicate the mind.

The five precepts include not wearing garlands or applying fragrant oils to the body: one should not dress extravagantly, nor apply expensive fragrant oils, perfumes, or essential oils to the body.

The sixth precept is against singing, dancing, or watching: one must not watch or listen to singing or dancing.

The seventh precept is not to sit on a high and wide bed: one should not use a large and comfortable bed or chair for sitting, lying down, or other daily activities.

Bajie does not eat at inappropriate times: He must not eat or consume food after noon.

The ninth precept is not to hoard gold, silver, or precious treasures: Do not covet wealth, and do not accumulate gold, silver, or precious treasures.

The Ten Commandments states: Do not steal. Do not take something for yourself without the owner's permission.

With the Buddha establishing the Ten Precepts, many Buddhist practitioners were immediately at a loss.

How can we handle this?

According to what the Buddha said, what else can Buddhist monks do?

But before the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas could recover, the Tathagata's voice resounded once more throughout Mount Sumeru:

"From this day forward, my Mount Sumeru will be renamed Mount Ling."

We Buddhist practitioners should maintain our spirituality and abstain from the seven emotions and six desires in order to protect our Buddhist heart!

In order to maximize his own interests, Buddha simply took this opportunity to change the name of Mount Sumeru.

If we add the seven emotions and six desires, the precepts he established would number more than twenty.

In an instant, all the Buddhist practitioners on Mount Ling were in an uproar!

Lewdness is one thing, but that's easier to say.

After all, in Buddhism, apart from the Buddha of Bliss, other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas could naturally avoid this if they paid attention.

But what the hell are the seven emotions and six desires?

Even the most powerful sages have their own emotions. Are we to expect them to completely shut down their six senses?

Isn't this utter nonsense?

In an instant, intense discontent spread throughout Lingshan.

But the dissatisfaction quickly faded away.

So what if we're dissatisfied?

Where would the Tathagata Dalai Lama have the audacity to establish precepts? It must have been at the behest of a sage behind the scenes.

Since the Buddha established the precepts, he himself naturally had to abide by them.

If they violate this rule, they will be punished. At that time, if the Tathagata can sit on the throne of the Buddha, they can naturally sit on it as well.

After a long silence, the Buddhist practitioners reluctantly said in unison, "Amitabha, we will obey the Buddha's decree!"

This time, the Buddha made a grand display by establishing Buddhist precepts, which naturally alarmed the entire Three Realms.

For a time, many cultivators scoffed at it.

What a load of bull!

As for the precepts established by your Buddhist sect, let's see how many you can actually abide by.

The phrase "having an affinity with my Buddhist community" originated from your Buddhist community, didn't it?

Refrain from lying?

Come, come! Let's continue to explain who likes to say the phrase "I have a karmic connection with this humble monk"!

As for other matters, there's no need to go into details.

This is not a precept; it is clearly the Buddha telling Buddhist practitioners what things are permissible to do.

Thinking of this, Zhao Gongming did not hesitate at all. He immediately mobilized the power of the Ziwei Emperor and said in a deep voice, "I think the Buddha's precepts are very good!"

If this Emperor and his Star Gods encounter any Buddhist cultivators who violate the precepts, they will be severely punished!

If any cultivator in the Three Realms encounters a Buddhist cultivator who has broken the precepts, they may take action or send the offender to the virtual universe. This Emperor will reward them accordingly!

May all Buddhist practitioners strictly abide by the precepts and never lightly violate them!

How could they possibly keep such strict rules?

Of course, although the Buddha established precepts, he did not establish methods of punishment. In their view, at most, it was just a matter of reflecting on one's mistakes in meditation.

However, Zhao Gongming's announcement to the Three Realms this time has taken the Buddhist precepts to a very serious level.

In the future, Buddhist monks will probably have to keep a low profile when they travel through the Three Realms.

Otherwise, if it really falls into the hands of that scoundrel Zhao Gongming...

What relationship do I, a Buddhist monk, have with you, the Great Emperor Ziwei?

He quickly replied, "Amitabha!"

Our Buddhist precepts are managed by the Discipline Hall; there's no need for Your Majesty to concern yourself with matters of violating the precepts!
