Game of Thrones: Joffrey the Chosen
Chapter 86, Section 1: Towards External Relations
That was a disgusting thing.
Pale skin, jet-black fingers, writhing incessantly inside the glass jar.
"What is this?!" someone exclaimed.
"A dead man's hand." Sir Elisa's voice was as sharp as his appearance.
"We found two long-lost Rangers outside the Wall, the dead kind."
"But when we transported the bodies back to the Great Wall, they came back to life."
"He's alive?" someone repeated incredulously.
"They're all alive." Elisa nodded. "The dead came back to life, walked out of the storeroom, and killed three of our brothers."
"Even though the dead man's head had been chopped off, it still managed to pull out Sir Jeremy's dagger and plunge it into his stomach."
"Another one attempted to assassinate the Commander-in-Chief, but was stopped in time."
Before the words were finished, the hand inside the jar suddenly pressed against the inner glass wall and began to scratch frantically, making a screeching sound.
It was like scratching a wooden board with your fingernail; everyone present felt their scalp tingle.
The sound of vomiting came from the corner.
A noblewoman spat out the roasted peacock and cream soup she had just swallowed and slumped to the side in a disheveled state.
A bold knight stepped forward, examined the jar for a moment, and pointed at it.
"It's still moving!"
Elisa gave him a cold look, a morbidly satisfied expression on her face: "It was alive to begin with."
"Or rather, some evil force has driven it out of death."
"Then how did you kill a dead man?" the knight asked again.
"Use fire," Elisa said. "Lord Blackfish burned that bastard outside to death..."
He mumbled something and then changed his words.
"Lord Jon Snow burned the other one to death, and while he was at it, he set the entire command tower on fire as well."
"His wolf had bitten off his hand before, so the commander-in-chief sent me to bring the item to show you all."
Robb frowned in displeasure: "That cut was clearly made with a sword."
"This man is talking nonsense. If he hadn't been dressed in black and on a mission, I wouldn't have brought him along."
Allissa set sail from the East Bay at the eastern end of the Wall, intending to go straight to King's Landing, but was blocked outside by Stannis's fleet.
No matter whose boat it is, it will not be allowed into Blackwater Bay.
So he turned back to Seagull Town in the valley, rode his horse through the blood gate, and happened to run into Robb's army, so he followed them all the way.
"Didn't Commander Mormont send a message?" Joffrey asked.
"Of course I sent it!" Elisa opened his bright black eyes wide. "Before I came, Maester Aemon sent me his best bird."
Joffrey didn't receive any letter.
Although he knew about the ghouls and vaguely remembered that it would happen at some point in the future, he didn't know the exact time.
Joffrey then turned to the Prime Minister.
"Your Majesty, this matter is far more important than those pirates of the Iron Islands." Ed looked back innocently and sadly. "How could I possibly hide it from you?"
Joffrey then turned to Paisell.
The Grand Secretary began to sweat: "Your Majesty, I truly did not receive the letter!"
"Although crows are strong, they can still be preyed upon by birds of prey on the road, such as eagles and falcons."
Not every letter arrives safely.
Joffrey reluctantly accepted this explanation.
During wartime, both sides would deliberately shoot each other's ravens.
Although both Castle Black and King's Landing belong to our side and there are no enemy forces.
But the soldiers will spontaneously create enemy forces.
Who knows, some damned archer might shoot down any bird, regardless of what kind it is, and it'll be dinner.
The letter tied to his leg was illegible, so he probably threw it into the fire.
At that moment, a soft, warm hand rested on the back of Joffrey's hand.
He turned it over, gently held it in his palm, and felt the faint pulse throbbing beneath it.
Everyone in the North knows what this means.
Corpse demons, Otherworldly demons.
Winter is coming.
Beneath the Great Wall, atop the glacier, a thousand years ago.
The Lich... The Night King, as the thirteenth Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, fell in love with a woman whose skin was as pale as the moon and as cold as solid ice.
He brought her back to Long Night Castle, made her his queen, and began a thirteen-year reign.
But in the end, the King of the North and the King of Beyond the Wall joined forces to defeat him.
And the Night King's name is...
Brandon Stark.
However, this is a story about the old nurse, probably used to scare Bran. Joffrey also heard it when he was in Winterfell.
Dr. Hammon's book, "The Guardians of the Wall," does not mention the Night King's origins.
They did mention the King of the North, nicknamed "The Liberator."
He'll still be called Brandon Stark.
As for Joffrey's version of events, the Night King was created by the Children of the Forest as a weapon to defend against the First Men, but later went out of control.
But this is the setting of the two smiling sharks in Erdebo, and has nothing to do with the Heavenly Will Master whose surname is Ma and given name is Ding.
Therefore, he still doesn't know who the Night King is or what his purpose is.
But one thing is certain.
He is Joffrey's enemy, and also humanity's enemy.
Not saying something doesn't mean not doing it.
Joffrey had given the Great Wall some support before, but it was very little and he didn't have much power at the time.
Later, due to other commitments, it was put on hold.
He figured that sending some food today, some clothes tomorrow, and stuffing in a few dozen more criminals wouldn't cause much of a stir.
It would be better to wait until the strength of the seven kingdoms is consolidated, then lead a large army to push forward and solve the problem once and for all.
But now, Joffrey remembered what the Onion Knight had said.
"To save the country by winning the throne is putting the cart before the horse; the country should be saved in order to win the throne."
The threats beyond the Great Wall are relevant to everyone.
"It was decided by the Imperial Council." Joffrey stood up.
"I, Joffrey Baratheon I, hereby call upon all the people of Westeros to give their full support to the Wall."
"And immediately cease the infighting and unite to confront external enemies."
"The Night's Watch has guarded the kingdom for thousands of years; we can no longer take this sacrifice for granted."
A buzz of discussion arose in the hall.
Some people were filled with excitement.
Some people whispered among themselves, eyeing the hand that was still wriggling inside the glass jar with suspicion.
They believe this was a prop created by Joffrey, a political prank.
At least that was the case during the Imperial Council.
Ed genuinely wanted to save the Wall.
But some people immediately realized that this was a perfect opportunity to seize certain benefits.
They used the alien spirits to punish the disobedient, and used the alien spirits to command the feudal lords.
With the cause of saving the world firmly in his grasp, those who are still rebelling immediately become enemies of humanity.
and so.
The results are obvious.
Joffrey's messenger ravens also disappeared without a trace.
Stannis didn't reply at all, while Renly remained as flippant as ever.
"Your Majesty," he wrote in the letter, "you must have seen that I defeated your father and captured many people."
"Now you're trying to use some tricks to trick me into a ceasefire?"
Joffrey finished reading and sighed.
correct.
Although external threats are urgent, how can we defend against enemies if internal strife is not eliminated?
