Miss Witch is broke again.

Chapter 20 Spells, Potions, and Serendipity

Su Li woke up in the hot spring with a start, even instinctively shivering. This fox spirit ancestor was too much of a troublemaker.

She couldn't help but rub her temples. No matter what the future holds, she should get some rest now.

She received far too much information today.

After leaving the hot spring, Su Li changed into Shana's pajamas, which, it must be said, fit her quite well.

Su Li's room wasn't large, but it had everything she needed. The furniture was antique, and a sandalwood table stood against the wall with an incense burner on it, emitting a calming fragrance.

Behind the floral and bird-patterned screen, Su Li fell into a deep sleep on the comfortable rocking bed.

The next day, Su Li slept soundly, but was awakened by a deafening explosion.

"Regins!"

A cheerful female voice shouted angrily, seemingly exasperated, without anyone knowing what had happened.

The weather on the floating island was lovely. The dazzling sunlight, filtered through the witch's protective shield, became soft and harmless, casting its rays onto Su Li through the carved window sills. It felt so comfortable that she couldn't help but stretch.

What happened?

Su Li was reluctant to get out of bed, but the noises outside piqued her curiosity, so she decided to go out and take a look.

Upon reaching the entrance to the room, Su Li saw wooden clogs on a low pearwood cabinet. She casually put them on, opened the door, and walked out of the courtyard.

"Meow! They're fighting! They're fighting!"

Cat Orange rolled around like a ball in a panic, stumbling into the other courtyard and causing Su Li to stumble.

Su Li lifted the cat by the scruff of its neck, and the cat's fur was so smooth that Su Li couldn't help but stroke it a few times.

"Big Fat Cat, what happened?"

Orange Cat flailed its four short, chubby paws, its human-like face filled with panic, howling:

"Sword Cat and Bomb Cat are fighting! Awooo! The cat's nest has been blown up."

Su Li's eyes widened. Is the life of a witch really this exciting?

Carrying the orange cat lantern that seemed to be trying to escape, Su Li had just entered the tavern when she saw the tavern filled with choking black smoke and heard Amber shouting loudly.

"Good job, Wenmei, just like that, beat her up. Hey, hey, hey, don't spank her butt. It's not perky to begin with, what if you flatten it?"

Su Li stood outside blankly, unsure whether she should go in or not.

Just then, an invisible breeze stirred, carrying away the black smoke from the tavern; it turned out to be a spell cast by Shana. This gentle witch, who had just arrived, saw Su Li's stunned expression and couldn't help but explain on behalf of the witch inside:

"They're not usually like this. I guess Ruijinsi's little gadgets have gotten out of control again."

Su Li nodded awkwardly.

As the black smoke dissipated, Su Li was able to see the situation inside.

A spirited young woman with sharp, raised eyebrows was grabbing a petite little girl and mercilessly slapping her bottom. No matter how much the little girl struggled and thrashed, she couldn't escape the spirited young woman's grasp.

"Shana, why don't you do anything about this vandal? He put a wine jar on the table first thing in the morning, and I just slapped it down, almost blowing the tavern to the sky."

The spirited young woman looked up, her once fair face now covered in soot and scorch marks, her unusually white hair falling to her ears, her eyebrows and eyes sharp and spirited.

The little girl struggling beneath her was covered in black ash, her white teeth bared as she howled loudly:

"That's the alchemical bomb I made, it's sitting nicely on the table, why are you touching it, you muscle maniac? Ahhh, let me go!"

Amber was completely unharmed, except for a dirty mark on the tip of her nose. She didn't care about it and instead felt quite smug about the little girl's current predicament.

Shana silently pulled out a feather duster from who-knows-where. Although it emitted a mechanical, electronic sound, the eerie feeling it gave off made Su Li involuntarily take a few steps back.

"Regins, how could you leave the alchemical bomb outside? You little rascal..."

Ruijinsi was held down by the spirited young girl and couldn't turn around. Unaware that Shana was holding a feather duster, she struggled even more fiercely as if she had seen a savior.

"That was the alchemical bomb I was going to sell on the black market. It was incredibly powerful, but this muscular woman wasted it all! Mute sister, please save me..."

What a powerful bomb!

Shana couldn't help but flick Regins's bottom with a feather duster and scold her:

"How could you dare to put something so dangerous on the table? And where did this wine jar come from?"

Amber, who had been gloating, tried to slip away on tiptoe after hearing this.

"I took the empty wine jar that Amber had secretly drunk from and used it to store a bomb!"

As Shana turned her head, Amber stood up stiffly, like a mouse seeing a cat, too afraid to move.

"Amber! Yaoyue, this tavern hasn't been open for long, and you've already drunk all the drinks!"

The spirited young woman, Tu Wen, is the last member of the Cat Pancake Squad.

Tu Wen suddenly felt a little scared, quickly loosened Ruijin's hair, scratched her white hair covered in cigarette ash, gave an awkward laugh, and said:

"Um, Shana, I suddenly remembered there's a martial arts tournament on Thunderclap Island. If there's nothing else, I'll be going now..."

Tu Wen tried to slip away, but Shana wouldn't let her go, asking:

"Wenmei, I'm asking you why you had to touch the wine jar? Are you trying to sneak a drink like Amber? You go out and get into fights all day long, just loafing around doing nothing."

Tu Wen's once striking eyebrows drooped as she lowered her head to receive a scolding.

The three witches, who were not doing anything productive, stood in a row, bowing their heads in unison to be scolded. After Shana finished lecturing them with a feather duster, she turned her attention to Su Li.

Su Li's legs suddenly trembled. Was it too late for her to run away?

Orange Cat broke free from her loosened grip, nimbly flipped in the air, and ran away on its two hind paws without daring to utter a sound.

However, Shana smiled at her, her attitude instantly softening, and said:

"Sorry, Li-mei, that's just how they are. If you don't keep a close eye on them, they'll cause trouble all the time."

Su Li pretended to be calm, concealing her earlier urge to run away, and replied:

"It's okay, it's okay. We'll all be sisters in the same team from now on. You'll get used to it."

Amber saw Shana talking to Su Li and didn't notice what was happening here.

She tugged at the hem of Tu Wen and Rui Jinsi's clothes, and the other two witches immediately understood, trying to take the opportunity to escape.

Unfortunately, before they could even take a few steps quietly, Shana flicked her feather duster, and the three of them instantly stood up straight, looking like they were admitting their mistakes and about to be scolded.

"The three of you clean the tavern ten times, then wash yourselves clean, especially Ruijinsi's little trinkets, which are not allowed to appear in the tavern again."

"Yes, Lady Shana!" ×2

Tu Wen and Amber immediately stood at attention and saluted, their expressions very resolute.

Ruijinsi, whose entire body was covered in black silk, couldn't help but let out a wail:

"What? Ten times?"

Shana narrowed her eyes; the gentle witch was now expressionless, and said coldly:

"Not satisfied? Then do it twenty times!"

Ruijinsi tried to speak, but Amber jumped up and kicked her in the knee, making it impossible for her to open her mouth. Then, Tu Wen, as if on cue, covered Ruijinsi's mouth and dragged her away.

This set of movements is so fluid and graceful; it's not something you can master in just one or two tries.

Shana smoothed things over, and her dignified older sister persona became incredibly approachable once again.

"Oh dear, it's all Ruijinsi's fault! They forgot to teach Li-mei about witchcraft!"

Shana was a little embarrassed, but Su Li didn't dare to say anything.

The tavern lobby was a mess and very inconvenient, so Shana took Su Li upstairs.

It was a bright, sunny day. The midday sun shone on the entire Floating Cloud Ruins Sky Island Group, as if awakening this behemoth.

Witches are all night owls; only now are they starting to appear on the streets outside the building.

Bathed in the bright sunlight streaming through the window, the stunningly beautiful girl, bathed in golden light, listened intently and patiently as Shana explained the knowledge of witches.

Magic is the source of a witch's power, determining every aspect of her being, and witches have no limit to their growth. Theoretically, every witch can grow to a point of world-destroying power, given enough time, but…

Fate is not fair. Every witch has different talents. Some genius witches become true great witches as soon as they come of age. With a little effort, they can even become top witches.

However, no matter how hard some witches try, becoming a great witch is already their limit. Although they can become stronger, the time span is so long that even the gods would shake their heads.

Talent determines a witch's future!

However, even witches with ordinary talents are not without the chance to defy fate. Becoming a great witch is not the end goal; there is still hope of becoming a top witch.

Spells, potions, and serendipitous encounters—these three things can change a witch's fate.

Learning new spells increases a witch's inner strength; knowledge is power, and this applies to witches as well.

Potions are indispensable for learning magic, as they solidify the spell models a witch learns. Each potion a witch drinks grants her a sliver of power; little by little, this power can accumulate to create a mighty river.

Serendipity is the easiest shortcut for witches to become stronger, which is also the key reason why witches start colonizing other worlds. As long as witches find those resources in other worlds, they can turn them into their own power.

Imagine a witch with incredible luck finding mythical artifacts, such as the sapling of the World Tree, the complete Heart of a Plane, the heart of an ancient dragon, the divine essence of a true god, and so on, and transforming them into her own power.

The Great Witch is nothing; even the Top-Tier Witch is within easy reach.

But what about the great witch?

Those extraordinary adventures that drive ordinary witches mad may just be one of the many treasures collected by the great witch.

The Great Witch is a tyrant who reigns supreme in the multiverse!
