A certain Hogwarts professor of runes
Chapter 7 Lesson Preparation
After reviewing the information, Felix took his leave.
On his way back, he stopped by Diagon Alley and bought two sets of ancient runes textbooks for grades three through seven from Flourish and Blotts. One set was brand new, and the other was a "treasure" he had spent a lot of time carefully selecting from piles of old books.
The old textbooks came from four top students. Although their handwritings were different, their notes were all very detailed. He felt he could refer to them as a kind of research.
The next day, he began the intense and exciting lesson preparation process, first flipping through the textbook—surprisingly, it was very simple!
Professor Babling, as expected of an expert in ancient runes, selected a very unique set of teaching materials: they were based on current mainstream viewpoints, but also included a certain proportion of practical runes.
The prevailing view is that ancient magic script is an ancient writing system used by ancient wizards to record magic, and that the responsibility of modern researchers is to translate those surviving magical texts.
This is only part of the truth. In fact, although they are all called "ancient runes," their history is actually quite long. In ancient times, they were mysterious patterns used to carry the magic of wizards and were widely used in ancient magic and ancient alchemical artifacts.
These ancient magical runes are the power that Felix seeks, and they are also the scope of his research.
He then went through the notes of several top students, and the parts about key points, difficulties, understanding methods and solutions were very enlightening for him—this could help him understand how the young wizards viewed the course.
That's why he likes top students; after all, birds of a feather flock together.
With the top student's notes and the syllabus he obtained from Professor McGonagall, he had a very clear understanding of the teaching content he needed to complete.
Next, we need to consider the teaching methods.
Although he had obtained the teaching position he had always longed for, and Hogwarts' thousand-year-old library had once again opened its doors to him, he was, after all, a legendary graduate. He couldn't very well let people criticize his teaching when he returned to his alma mater, could he?
He can't bear the humiliation! People from Slytherin are so concerned about their image!
"How can I make it attractive enough?" Felix pondered repeatedly, and the first thought that popped into his mind was the "sea of questions" approach.
At this moment, he is not fighting alone! The lingering psychological shadows of numerous test-takers from both past and present lives have attached themselves to him.
A strange, cloying laugh came from inside the cabin.
Getting back to the point, Felix took out a piece of parchment and wrote the words "practice makes perfect" on it. He then introduced two branches: one was the advantage, which read "quickly consolidates learned knowledge"; the other branch represented the disadvantage, which read "easily triggers conflict psychology".
Felix certainly wanted to achieve something, but he also knew exactly what level those unreliable young wizards were at—if he didn't want to surpass Professor Binns to become the "most unpopular professor," he had to be careful.
"The key is to be both interesting and informative, but being interesting is the opposite of the 'sea of questions' strategy..." Felix murmured, "Perhaps we can start by writing diaries and short essays in ancient magical script."
Time flew by as I pondered...
"Final exams are also very important; we could consider adding a practical component."
Ancient magic texts are inherently dry, but they are actually essential knowledge for in-depth research into the mysteries of magic, connecting ancient magic on one end and ancient alchemy on the other.
The former represents immense power, while the latter represents once-glorious magical creations.
"Ancient magic is not feasible; I can't even handle it now. But using what I've learned to complete, or at least repair, an alchemical artifact is a viable approach..." Felix entered a kind of "brainstorming" phase, with various thoughts and inspirations bursting forth. The quill on the table danced rapidly, leaving afterimages in its wake.
By evening, Felix had completed the initial design of the course.
"As expected of me." He looked at his work with satisfaction: three parchment sheets filled with dense text and flowcharts.
The remaining question is what alchemical products to use as the teaching medium.
This was no easy task, because Felix wasn't planning on preparing five alchemical artifacts for grades three through seven—too much trouble and too much of his study time.
He plans to choose an appropriate alchemy item and divide it into different difficulty levels.
For example, third-grade students only need to complete tasks such as "connection", "connection", "balance", and "coordination", which are analogous to connecting wires or pushing and pulling switches in physics experiments.
As for seventh grade, I'm not asking you to build a rocket, but I can't expect you to make a small, heavy-duty vehicle. Surely that's not too much to ask.
"What should be the medium? First, it can't be too simple, otherwise it won't be possible to distinguish the difficulty; but it also can't be too complicated, otherwise I'll get tired myself."
There are at least eight hundred, if not a thousand, young wizards at Hogwarts. Even if only a third of them choose ancient runes, it would still be an unbearable workload for him, who wanted to innovate in teaching.
Felix was having a headache; he wanted to strike a balance between "efficiency" and "quality"...
For three days straight, Felix searched through his entire collection of books, but still couldn't find a suitable starting point.
"There are so few ancient magical script books on the market, and even fewer that are primarily for practical use!" Felix lamented inwardly, which only made him yearn even more for the Hogwarts library.
That's his One Piece!
Felix had heard all sorts of bizarre legends during his school years, such as the four founders of Hogwarts each leaving behind mysterious treasures. But in his opinion, if one could master all the magical knowledge in the library, that person's achievements would be no less than any of the four founders.
The greatest treasure trove is right before our eyes, yet most people are blind to it!
He himself only realized his mistake after missing it; otherwise, why would he have been planning to return to Hogwarts all these years? Wasn't it because he was still thinking about his beloved?
Having found nothing, Felix left his hut, intending to go out for a walk to clear his head.
"Mr. Haip, I haven't seen you for the past few days!" An elegant lady bumped into him.
"Linda, I've been busy preparing for my new job lately."
"Have you found a job?"
……
After a brief conversation, the woman left, slightly reluctant.
It must be mentioned that Felix's gentle and refined personality and handsome appearance have always made him popular with the neighbors.
Streets in London's West End.
Felix wandered aimlessly, appearing remarkably relaxed compared to the hurried pedestrians on the street, as if he belonged to a completely different world.
That's not wrong either.
Midway through his journey, Felix passed by a dental clinic. Looking at the clean and tidy storefront, his gaze paused for a moment, and a thought that had been lingering in his mind for a long time resurfaced.
No rush, come back in a few days.
He continued walking and finally stopped at a children's activity room. Hearing the familiar "Yofakkinda" and "Dogsine," Felix walked in as if possessed.
The room was dimly lit, and a group of teenagers were frantically pounding on buttons and tirelessly swinging joysticks, uttering strange "whoosh whoosh hahaha" sounds.
Fighting games~
Felix truly felt like he was back in his childhood, not this life's childhood, but his past life's. The familiar characters on the screen made him feel incredibly close to them, especially the young women dressed in light clothing.
"Brand's skills are so cool!!"
"The Ice Girl's ultimate attack is screen-wide, what do you know!"
Felix chuckled. Sure enough, gamers all over the world tend to have similar names: move signature + gender.
Just as I was about to turn and leave, a sudden thought flashed through my mind. Wait, what was I just thinking?
Fighting?
Figurines? Yes, figurines!
Felix's eyes lit up. He had finally found an alchemical artifact suitable for all five grades—complex enough, yet not too difficult. This was a figurine… no, this was a magical puppet!
His long-held thoughts could finally come to an end.
Using characters from fighting games as templates and ancient magical runes as a means of creation, we recreate some of these characters!
These magical puppets (figures) are acceptable to children in the wizarding world, and Muggle wizards have no psychological barriers to them.
As for the difficulty, it is easy to adjust. For third and fourth grade students, he can complete the engraving of the main magic runes of the magic puppet, leaving some nodes and branch structures for them to complete.
Older students will need to complete at least one functional module on their own.
Felix became more and more excited as he thought about it; he could even organize a doll fighting tournament!
After all, children in the wizarding world have it too tough, with very limited entertainment options. What's so great about Quidditch?
His dislike for Quidditch was definitely not because he failed his first-year flying class!
A picture flashed through Felix's mind:
The two students met, each holding a palm-sized magical puppet, and struck a classic duel pose.
Come and join the thrilling magical duel!
Felix was lost in some kind of delusion, and the corners of his mouth involuntarily turned up high.
