A certain Hogwarts professor of runes
Chapter 63 Killing the Snake
Meanwhile, Ron awoke under the influence of the drug.
"Um...where am I? Harry! Hermione?" Ron sat up, a little dazed, and then he saw Harry and Hermione fighting with the Basilisk.
He quickly recalled what had happened.
He caught up with Harry with his magical puppet, and the two discovered the Basilisk. Harry tried to say something in Parsleyan, but the Basilisk immediately launched an attack.
They could only run for their lives, not daring to even look back.
Just then, a large silver bird appeared and pecked out the basilisk's eyes. Immediately afterward, the bastard was swept away by the bastard's tail, and he was in excruciating pain all over his body. He almost thought he was dead.
Ron's last memory was of Harry supporting him, and the silver bird transforming into an ugly little creature, landing on his shoulder.
Is it weeping because it's sad for me?
Ron stood up, moved his arms and legs, and found himself completely unharmed?
He drew Lockhart's wand, ready to step forward, but the image of him being swept away by the basilisk flashed before his eyes, and immense fear gripped his heart.
I'm going to die!
He stared at the scene. Harry was holding an unfamiliar silver sword. Had Hermione brought it? But where was Professor Ambrose? Where was Dumbledore? He looked around but couldn't find Professor Ambrose.
And what are those things that look like devil's web branches? Ron felt like he had woken up and couldn't understand the situation at all.
By this time, the basilisk had broken free from the third devil vine. It looked increasingly furious, its tongue flicking out, its long fangs resembling a row of sharp daggers.
It coiled its body around the stone pillar, its tail slapping against the pillar and kicking up a cloud of pebbles.
In his panic, Harry climbed onto the toes of the Slytherin statue. The basilisk lunged forward, its massive head smashing a half-meter-deep crater.
Hermione's beaded pouch had become useless. She rushed out and unleashed several red spells, but they were easily deflected by the basilisk's scales.
What should I do?
Ron was trembling all over, his mind in turmoil.
Snape gave a silent, mocking smile and raised his wand.
However, the next moment——
Ron Weasley rushed out, picked up a rock, and smashed it on the basilisk's head.
"Hey! I'm here!" He waved his arms dramatically to attract the basilisk's attention.
The basilisk's dark, hollow eyes were directed at Ron, making him swallow hard.
Under the illusion spell, the professors had different thoughts.
"A foolish lion." That was Snape's opinion.
"Brave Gryffindor..." Dumbledore's eyes welled up with tears.
"Commendable courage," Felix said, but that would never be his choice.
Ron paid the price for his recklessness. He scrambled to avoid the sweeping snake tail, his finger bleeding from a sharp stone on the ground.
The basilisk had its mouth wide open, and its pale white fangs were reflected in the green light hanging from the ceiling, making it look terrifying.
In a panic, Ron threw his wand, which, belonging to Lockhart, arced through the air and landed in the basilisk's mouth by sheer coincidence—but to no avail.
While Harry was at it, he had already climbed onto the giant statue, with Slytherin's massive head at his feet.
Harry stood on the high ground, looking down at the basilisk that was attacking wildly, his hand tightly gripping the gleaming Gryffindor sword.
With the Basilisk at the center, Harry, Ron, and Hermione were positioned in three different locations.
As if by telepathy, their gazes passed over the basilisk and landed on each other.
Ron suddenly ran desperately toward Harry, hissing as he spoke—the only Parsleyan phrase he'd ever learned from Harry—which he'd originally intended to use to insult Malfoy.
"idiot!"
The word instantly drew the basilisk's full attention, and the sounds Ron made as he stumbled along helped it quickly lock onto its target.
The basilisk twisted its body, its scales scraping the ground, and swam quickly toward Ron.
Hermione ran out after it, but she was too far away to see the basilisk's back.
Ron ran to the Slytherin statue and yelled, "Harry!" At that moment, time seemed to stand still—
The basilisk raised its head, preparing to attack. Hermione's mouth gaped open, her eyes filled with astonishment. Harry, meanwhile, raised the Gryffindor sword and leaped down from the Slytherin statue.
The three professors outside the arena gripped their wands tightly at the same time, and Snape gasped deeply.
Time seemed to slow down. Harry felt the whistling wind brushing past his ears. The basilisk seemed as slow as a snail to him. He even had the energy to adjust his falling posture while in mid-air.
It's like playing an alternative version of Quidditch...
"laugh!"
The silver Gryffindor sword shone with a watery luster as it pierced the basilisk's head with unstoppable force. Harry used the speed of his fall and his own weight to completely penetrate the sword, leaving only the hilt.
Sensing the threat of death and the excruciating pain, the basilisk went completely mad, violently shaking its head and whipping its tail across the rubble. Harry gripped the sword hilt tightly; his leg was cut, but he was completely unaware of it.
Instead, he frantically spun the hilt of the sword, trying to make the Gryffindor sword pierce a bloody hole in the basilisk's head.
The basilisk's body suddenly stiffened, and Felix stared intently at the scene, not missing a single detail.
In his vision, the basilisk was imprisoned by the immense magic beneath it.
It's Dumbledore!
Everything happened in the blink of an eye. Five or six seconds later, Harry was thrown out. "Yugardim Leviosa!" Hermione arrived. She waved her wand and used a standard levitation charm to catch Harry.
The basilisk was extremely resilient; even after its head was pierced, it writhed for almost a minute before collapsing with a thud.
Ron limped over to the two men, his body covered in bruises, but he smiled broadly. "We won! It's unbelievable, isn't it?"
Harry laughed too. He was in a terrible state, with multiple cuts on his arms and a long gash on his thigh—the Basilisk's last stand before it died.
He was about to say something when his vision suddenly blurred.
"Harry!"
"Harry!"
Ron and Hermione's voices seemed to be separated by a layer, making it difficult for Harry to hear them. He vaguely heard Hermione say, "It's snake venom. The basilisk's venom is also highly poisonous."
Am I going to die?
Harry asked himself. His lips moved, but he wasn't sure if he was speaking.
"Harry!" Ron shouted.
Hermione called out towards Felix and the others, "Professor, Headmaster..." The Disillusionment Charm was dispelled, and Dumbledore strode out.
"Headmaster, Harry is dying," Ron said sadly, not having time to think about why Dumbledore had arrived so conveniently.
"He won't die!" Dumbledore's firm tone brought great comfort to Ron and Hermione.
Dumbledore beckoned, and Fawkes the phoenix cried out as it flew down to Harry's side, large tears dripping onto his wounds.
The wound quickly stopped bleeding, contracted, and healed completely.
"Headmaster? Professor?" Harry opened his eyes. He looked at the phoenix before him, then at his wound. "What happened? I'm not..."
"Harry, the tears of the phoenix can cure poison and heal wounds."
Harry looked at Fawkes with curiosity. This was a phoenix? But it was so ugly and so small, only the size of a palm.
"What's its name?"
"Fox".
Harry looked at the phoenix and said gratefully, "Thank you, Fawkes. It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Harry, Harry Potter."
The little phoenix jumped onto his shoulder and affectionately nuzzled Harry's cheek.
Dumbledore explained, "The phoenix is a rather fascinating creature. It's a pity that Fawkes has just undergone a rebirth. In a while, its entire body will be covered in amazing red and gold feathers."
"They can carry heavy things, their tears can detoxify, and they are also exceptionally loyal pets."
They then returned to the castle, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione were taken to the school hospital.
Ron and Hermione both had scratches, with Ron's being more serious, while Harry had just been healed by the Phoenix's Tears and was otherwise unharmed except for some dirt.
