A certain Hogwarts professor of runes
Chapter 2 My First Half of Life
He had been waiting for this day for three years.
Three years is a really long time.
Felix leaned back in his chair, lost in thought, the aroma of tea seemingly carrying his memories back to ten years ago.
At that time, he was an innocent 11-year-old boy (?), full of dreams and aspirations, just like a migrant worker who had just come to the city to make a living.
Felix admitted that he was extremely ambitious; anyone with a mature mind and prior knowledge of part of the plot would have ambitions to achieve great things. Thus, it was only natural that he was sorted into Slytherin House.
But this academy, whose keywords are ambition, bloodline, and honor, was not exactly friendly to him. At that time, it had been less than a year since the fall of the Varian, and his remaining "pure-blood" ideology still held sway. As the stronghold of pure-blood families, Slytherin was experiencing intense internal turmoil.
At this very moment, a Muggle orphanage student was sorted into Slytherin (although one of his parents might have been a wizard, which was not impossible in the context of the time), and the impact on them was immense—in fact, there were cases like Felix, but they were quite rare.
If Felix were just an ordinary person, or even an ordinary time traveler, his seven years of school life would likely have been filled with words like "school violence," "bullying," and "indifference," and these things could very well affect his entire life.
Unfortunately, Felix is no ordinary person; he is a man (or boy?) with a cheat code—he can force the power of some of his practical magic spells to advance beyond his current level of magical theory through repeated practice.
Of course, it's not an unlimited upgrade.
For example, if his level of magical theory is level 1, he can use repeated, extensive, and even massive amounts of practice to bring a specific magical spell to level 2 or even level 3. The higher the level, the more difficult it becomes.
Although his "golden finger" (a special ability or advantage) wasn't particularly powerful, it helped him through his initial awkward phase. Looking back on his first three years of school, it can be considered a masterpiece of face-slapping:
Before enrolling, due to his curiosity about magic and some persecution complex unique to adults, he spent most of his time practicing the two spells he knew, namely "Petrify All" and "Armor Protection," aside from trying some simple spells.
One offensive and one defensive stance aligns with his moderate mindset when allocating skill points in a game in his previous life.
Comparatively, Petrify is simpler. After thousands of tedious spellcasting practices, Felix forcibly leveled it to level 2, while Armored Protection was only barely at level 1.
This is nothing short of a miracle for someone whose theoretical level is practically zero! The magical world should award him a Merlin badge.
With his Level 2 petrification ability, Felix defeated all the first-year Slytherin students in his first week of school, and even knocked down a second-year boy who had cast a curse on him, leaving him hanging in the bathroom overnight in the cold wind.
This move had a huge impact, giving Snape, who had just become the youngest head of Slytherin House in history, a major headache.
Snape had to contend with external pressure from other Slytherin parents while simultaneously dealing with extremely complex internal conflicts within the house. To be fair, this was a severe test of Professor Snape's management skills, especially considering he was still a newcomer.
What troubled Snape even more was what followed: Felix overturned the entire second-year wizarding class at the end of the first year, leaving many seats empty at that year's House Cup party.
As a result, Felix was forced to stay at school for mandatory labor throughout the holiday—which was exactly what he wanted.
Otherwise, he suspected that some parents would come to his door and curse him!
In the context of that time, this was not a mere fantasy.
By their second year, under Snape's pressure, Felix had toned it down considerably, no longer sending Slytherin students to the infirmary on a large scale—instead, he sent them one by one.
By the end of his third year, Felix had become Slytherin's de facto strongest student, the uncrowned king. The effect was significant; no one in the entire house dared to disrespect him. Of course, some outside the school still made boastful remarks, threatening to teach him a lesson while he hid inside.
Yes, Felix spent three whole years at school, at most going to Diagon Alley to buy textbooks; he never went anywhere else.
A pathetic school life...
Of course, every story has a twist, and Felix's twist happened in fourth grade.
During his fourth-year summer break, Felix finally left school and, in one holiday, defeated seven adult wizards who tried to attack him, sending them to Azkaban.
This was big news at the time, but even bigger news was yet to come. At Felix's fifth-year entrance dinner, he challenged Shafik, one of the 28 Holy Pureblood Families, to a Pureblood Family Duel.
Felix can still vividly recall the amusing expressions on Professor Snape's face—his mouth agape and Dumbledore's wide-eyed stare!
Lost in his memories, Felix gave a childlike smile.
The so-called pure-blood family duel is a very ancient form of dueling, in which family members fight each other until one side is completely defeated or killed!
Even in the most chaotic and disorderly times, such duels were extremely rare. But it must be acknowledged that this form of dueling existed and was not abolished.
When Felix stood before the only Shafik in Slytherin, and slowly and methodically used ancient dueling etiquette to humiliate the Shafik family in front of everyone (one of the necessary steps in family duels), the sixth-year Shafik collapsed to the ground, his body trembling.
Even after Headmaster Dumbledore tried to dissuade him after the party, he didn't change his mind about the duel. He still remembered what he had said to Dumbledore: "Headmaster, Shafik attacked me twice during the summer! Four people in total! One the first time, three the second time. Do you know what spell they used?"
Dumbledore had gray hair and deep, wise eyes, but he did not speak.
Felix calmly replied, "It was the Unforgivable Curse. They used both the Imperius Curse and the other two. Of course, they failed. I find it hard to imagine that someone would do such a thing four years after the fall of Mystic."
Dumbledore said wearily, "The Shafiq family are not Death Eaters—at least not entirely; they just hold onto the pure-blood ideology...a very stubborn family."
"But it doesn't make much difference to me, right? They sent four people during the holidays. As far as I know, the Shafik family isn't very large. Four people... Does their family even have ten members, including the elderly and minors?"
……
The Shafik family is simply not a match for them. Felix's fighting prowess had already been recognized during the summer vacation, and after the four members of the Shafik family were sent to Azkaban, their remaining fighting strength was less than four people!
They could only use their influence to resort to underhanded tactics, but with little effect, because family honor was the most important thing for pure-blood families.
This unfinished duel caused a huge uproar in the entire British wizarding world. After several months of twists and turns, it ended with the permanent withdrawal of the Shafik family from the British wizarding world. The pure-blood family duel that had lasted for nearly a thousand years was also officially abolished by law under the influence of some people.
This event, known as the August 7th Duel, had a far-reaching impact, no less significant than Voldemort's downfall for some die-hard families!
During his fifth-grade summer vacation, Felix visited some pure-blood families, and in summary, he had friendly meetings and reached a friendly consensus on certain issues.
Felix was pleased; even pure-blood families can be reasonable!
During his last two years at Hogwarts, Felix remained harmless, exploring the mysteries of magic. Upon graduation, he requested to stay on as a teacher, but Dumbledore refused, citing his young age. Otherwise, he lived a comfortable life, and the snakes were all well-behaved.
Looking back on his seven years of school life, he had a fairly pleasant time.
Of course, Professor Snape might not think that way. According to the latest gossip at Hogwarts, a certain professor's bad character is related to a bad student he taught in his early years!
