Chapter 39 Finding Tsunade

Less than half an hour after Uchiha Sora entered the back mountain, the two corpses were discovered. The two genin exclaimed in shock, which quickly attracted the attention of the other ninjas. They looked at the corpses on the ground and felt a chill run down their spines. They subconsciously took a few steps back. Everyone's face was extremely ugly. This was their own territory, and yet they hadn't even noticed that their own people had been killed.

Soon, a middle-aged man arrived from a distance. The other Takigakure ninja breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing him, feeling much more at ease. They respectfully bowed and greeted him, "Jonin of the Wind and Smoke Sect."

Feng Yan nodded slightly, glanced at the corpse, and asked, "What happened?"

His attitude was very casual, as if he didn't care at all that his own people had died, but no one was dissatisfied. The reason was that Fengyan was very strong. It was rumored that he had drunk the Hero's Water, which increased his chakra by more than ten times, and his strength was close to that of a Kage. It could be said that his strength was one of the best in the entire Takigakure village.

The genin who first discovered the bodies said, "Kenin, we noticed there was no movement here, so we came to check and found these two bodies in that clump of weeds." As they spoke, they pointed to the blood-stained grass next to them.

Fengyan nodded slightly, took the gloves from someone next to him, and then squatted down to examine the body. He first opened the white eyeballs, then pulled open the clothes, and finally checked the fatal wounds. The ninja next to him who was examining the body explained, "The Chunin's pants were not fastened. It can be preliminarily determined that the two were killed by a single blow while urinating. The other party was very swift. Based on the condition of the body, they have been dead for about half an hour."

Fengyan listened silently, then lifted the clothes of the genin next to her, revealing a clean hole pierced through his armor.

"The Chunin was stabbed in the throat with a kunai, while the Genin was pierced through the heart with a longsword. That's why neither of them made a sound until their deaths. The murderer should be in the back mountains right now," the necromancer explained.

Feng Yan nodded, covered the two bodies with a white sheet, stood up, took off his gloves, and casually said, "Bury these two somewhere." Then he asked, "How's the investigation into the explosion going?"

In the crowd, a Chunin said in a deep voice, "We didn't catch them. The other side is very experienced. They didn't give us a chance to fight head-on at all. The explosion happened not long after these two died, so they are very likely accomplices."

"Jōnin, is it possible that the killer came to rescue that woman?"

"Who knows?" Fengyan rolled a cigarette, bent down to light it, and exhaled a cloud of white smoke. "The plan remains the same: slowly narrow down the search area until we find that woman."

The ninja who performed the autopsy hesitated for a moment before finally speaking, "Jōnin Fuuka, this is already the fifth victim. If the murderers are part of a group, our losses could be..."

Fengyan waved his hand. "Continue the mission."

"But……"

Fengyan interrupted him, her eyes turning cold. "I said, the mission continues."

The ninja who performed the autopsy shuddered when he met that cold gaze and shut his mouth.

"What are you standing there for? Carry out the mission." Fengyan coldly glanced at the ninjas present, who shuddered and retreated, leaving only Fengyan alone.

After a long while, Fengyan threw away his cigarette butt, ground it with his toe, and gazed wistfully at the dense bushes. Five people had died today, but he knew clearly that the murderer was not the same person because the methods were different. The two people here were killed with a single blow from a sharp weapon, but the other three were killed by a secret technique, the method of which was extremely cruel. As one of the few Jonin in the village, he recognized that secret technique because it originally belonged to Takigakure.

"If these two were killed by people from Konoha, then why did you come back... Kakuzu?"

……

At this moment, Uchiha Sora was unaware that, in addition to their Anbu, Kakuzu had also returned to Takigakure. Guided by the slug, he arrived at the mountain. Upon arrival, he discovered that the mountain was a hidden paradise, with caves almost everywhere, making it an excellent hiding place.

He took out the little slug. "Little slug, which way do we go next?"

The slug wriggled twice, then pointed its tentacles in a certain direction. Uchiha Sora walked towards that cave. Luckily, the slug was there, otherwise he would have been like a headless fly, bumping around everywhere.

After he entered the cave, a figure flashed past on a tree in the distance.

Inside the cave, it was dark and deep, with a heavy and cold dampness in the air. The ground was almost covered with moss, and water droplets would occasionally drip from above, the deep sound echoing in the cave for a long time.

"Hiss—this place is even more outrageous than the Anbu base." Uchiha Sora walked through the cave, holding a chakra lamp in his hand.

At a glance, various unknown damp cave creatures crawl densely in the crevices of the rugged stone walls and in the dark, damp corners: woodlice, centipedes, and blind spiders are everywhere.

"What a terrible environment," he muttered, then recalled the news he'd heard about Tsunade's poisoning. "If she's poisoned, she probably won't last long in this kind of environment. By the way, Tsunade shouldn't be afraid of these little bugs, right?"

As he walked, he came to a fork in the road. Luckily, there were slugs, otherwise he might have gotten lost in the intricate network of caves.

After passing one fork in the road after another, he estimated that he had reached the middle of the mountains. At this point, the air was very thin, and it was difficult to breathe.

The slug had clearly disappeared from his palm, but he didn't seem to care, which meant he was very close to Tsunade.

Looking at the chakra lamp in his hand, he was somewhat relieved that he had a sufficient chakra reserve; otherwise, searching for someone in this pitch-black environment would have been far too troublesome.

Suddenly, a figure flashed by!

Uchiha Sora's pupils contracted slightly. He had barely reacted when he was completely overwhelmed by a terrifying, monstrous force! It felt as if every bone in his body was about to shatter!

Feeling the coldness of the ground behind him, he immediately knew who this person was.

"We're on the same side!" he shouted quickly. Immediately, he felt the strange force on his body stop, but it didn't loosen.

After a moment of silence, Tsunade spoke in a hoarse voice: "Evidence."

"I have a headband inside my clothes, the Will of Fire, eternally burning!" he said quickly, grinning.

That force is terrifying, it feels like it could crush him.

Immediately, he felt a hand moving over his body, and soon his headband was removed. Then, a burst of chakra lit up in the darkness.

After a while, Tsunade released Uchiha Sora and leaned against the wall.

Why are you all alone?

"Let's split up. I'll find your lead first, and the others will be here soon." As he spoke, he took out his phone, but sure enough, there was still no signal.

Tsunade hummed in response, and it was clear that she was very weak. The chakra ball she used for illumination had dissipated, so Uchiha Sora thoughtfully turned on the chakra lamp.

It was only then that he realized how bad Tsunade's condition was.

Her face was pale, stained with blood, and her clothes were tattered, revealing a lot of skin. Most importantly, there was a shocking wound on her abdomen that stained her clothes blood red.

"Uh, I have a feeling you're going to die," Uchiha Sora said weakly after watching for a while.

Upon hearing this, Tsunade glanced at him and suddenly said, "Take off your mask."

"Um, I'm from the Anbu..."

"I'll beat you up."

Uchiha Sora silently removed his mask, revealing a slightly youthful face.

"What a brat," Tsunade muttered.

"What if I weren't a child?"

"Heh, you've been staring at me for quite a while, haven't you? If you weren't a brat, I'd settle the score with you when we get back."
