Chapter 105 The Studio Interview
Refusing to file a case?
Chen Mo's eye twitched slightly.
This involves supernatural forces. Giving this kind of response means that the polling office is clearly unwilling to get involved, right?
Is it because it's too much trouble, or...?
After thinking for a moment, he suddenly froze, realizing why the polling office didn't want to get involved.
Could it be that my own father is standing up for me?
His lips twitched.
This... can't be...
After hanging up the phone, Chen Mo slumped onto the sofa, letting his mind wander.
The studio sign has already been sent out for customization, and it should be back and hung up soon.
He rented an apartment building yesterday to use as a studio and accommodation, and has already arranged for people to start renovating it.
In the past two days, he has received a lot of resumes in his inbox, which are of varying quality and need to be carefully screened. He has delegated this part of the work to Jiang Mingyang.
Good news came from his side too; several people have been shortlisted!
Jiang Mingyang's work efficiency was much higher than Chen Mo had expected. He wondered if Jiang Mingyang was slacking off at work every day.
Soon, he sent a detailed report, along with information on eight candidates who had passed the initial screening.
Chen Mo carefully read through it.
The information was organized meticulously, including everyone's background and self-narration, and even some rumors that Jiang Mingyang had learned privately. It was clear that he had put a lot of thought into it.
"Thanks, Lao Tong." Chen Mo made a phone call directly. "Why don't you come over tomorrow afternoon too?"
Jiang Mingyang's voice on the other end of the phone was a little surprised, but he readily agreed: "Oh? Me too? Sure, Brother Mo, it's a good opportunity for online friends to meet in person."
The interview was scheduled for a quiet private room in a coffee shop near the residential area.
At 2:00 PM sharp, Chen Mo and Jiang Mingyang went inside together.
The private room was large enough to easily accommodate ten people around a long table, and the eight candidates had already arrived.
They were all between twenty and thirty years old, dressed in different styles, and had different expressions.
Some were curious, some were nervous, and some were eager to try.
After a brief nod to each other, they took their seats on the other side of the long table.
Chen Mo didn't exchange many pleasantries, his gaze calmly sweeping over everyone.
"I am Chen Mo, and this is Jiang Mingyang. He has reviewed everyone's information. I invited you all here today to have a face-to-face chat."
"Don't be nervous, everyone. Let's start with self-introductions. Tell us why you wanted to come and what you think you can do."
The man sitting on the far left, wearing a dark jacket and sitting upright, was the first to speak.
He has a handsome face and calm eyes, giving people a sense of maturity far beyond his age.
"Su Yifan, 25 years old, graduated from police academy, joined the Jinghai Criminal Investigation Team during his internship, worked there for several years, and has now resigned."
"What's the reason?"
"There are too many rules inside, which sometimes restrict your actions. I won't comment on whether they are right or wrong, but I don't really like this kind of place with too many rules and regulations. There are many things that clearly have more direct solutions, but people insist on going around in circles and waiting."
What can you do?
He looked at Chen Mo: "I know a little bit about everything. I've been able to vaguely see some non-human energy bodies since I was a child, but the colors are very faint and the forms are unstable."
Everyone looked at him in astonishment, wondering why he possessed the legendary Yin-Yang Eyes?
Chen Mo nodded calmly, showing little surprise at the fact that he possessed the ability to see ghosts.
"I want to find out why this capability exists. And what you're doing is very interesting and challenging. I hope to use my expertise to provide intelligence analysis and operational support."
Chen Mo thought for a moment and asked, "Suppose you're at a mission scene where the official conclusion is an accident, but through observation you discover traces of lingering spirits at the scene, and these traces point to homicide. How would you handle the aftermath?"
Su Yifan gave his answer almost without hesitation.
"Prioritize protecting the scene and your own safety. Without alerting potential dangers, record as much evidence as possible, including the form of the spirit, its location, and how it interacts with certain objects in the environment."
"Generally speaking, these aspects all involve the obsessions of spirits and are directly related. I will conduct cross-analysis based on the traces left at the scene and the victim's background to find overlooked clues."
"If communication with the spirits is needed, I will assess the risks before deciding whether to attempt it. There should be no sense of curiosity or morbid curiosity in such matters, otherwise it could be very dangerous."
Chen Mo asked, "Why not try offering different opinions to those above?"
"The decision has been made, so there's no going back," Su Yifan shook his head helplessly. "That's one of the reasons I left."
Next up was a young man wearing a sports hoodie, with a buzz cut, his eyes sparkling with energy.
"My name is Li Haojie, I'm twenty-four years old... uh... a medical nursing major..."
Seeing that Chen Mo didn't seem to have any unusual expression, he continued, "I used to be a parkour enthusiast, and I've been in several famous parkour groups in Jinghai."
Chen Mo caught the key point in the conversation: "Before?"
"Well, later... something came up, so I didn't participate in group activities as much anymore."
Chen Mo asked, "What other special skills and abilities do you have?"
"I have quick reflexes, am good at climbing and running, am familiar with the urban environment of Jinghai City, and have tried all kinds of extreme sports."
"I can see those things too... I want to try to learn more about this..."
He patted his chest and said, "Whether it's tracking, infiltration, or emergency rescue, I can handle it all."
Chen Mo looked at him: "If you were given a mission to silently enter the third floor of a heavily guarded building that might be haunted by paranormal phenomena, how would you plan your route and method?"
Everyone was taken aback and began to think about what they would do if they were in that situation.
Li Haojie calmed down and thought about it seriously for a few seconds.
"First, let's avoid regular surveillance and patrols. I can climb the exterior walls using the pipes and decorative structures; I've done that before. If that doesn't work, we can consider going up from the roof of the building next door. As for dealing with paranormal phenomena..."
He thought for a moment, scratched his head, and said somewhat confusedly, "I have no experience with this. Although I can see it, ordinary people probably don't have any good solutions. Perhaps blood from the tip of the tongue or a child's urine would be effective?"
Chen Mo nodded noncommittally and gestured for the next person.
The third boy who spoke wore black-rimmed glasses, a T-shirt with a sci-fi logo, and a heavy-looking backpack on his back; he looked like a tech geek.
"Zhou Mingyu is twenty-three years old this year. He used to work at a major internet company writing code and working on hardware. He was tired of doing the same things every day, so he left."
Zhou Mingyu glanced at Chen Mo, and before he could ask, he continued his introduction.
"I am skilled in electronic equipment modification, signal tracking and drone debugging, including the code and hardware I mentioned before. As long as you give me a template, I can replicate it in a very short time."
"In addition, I can drive, and I'm a very skilled driver with a professional racing license."
