Medieval: Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Chapter 101: Internal Meeting

Soon, the core members of the camp entered the council hall one after another and sat down on both sides of the long table. There were men and women, young and old.

Henry sat with the blacksmith Seedorf, feeling both curious and nervous. He couldn't help but look around and saw Clara sitting down not far away, smiling at him.

Henry smiled, finding this meeting format quite novel. He had previously attended meetings convened by Radzi and Lord Hannah, where nobles drank incessantly, and he could only stand respectfully in a corner.

Soon everyone had arrived, and Peter strode in. Everyone stood up and stared at him.

"Is everyone here? Let's begin."

Peter quickly glanced around and took the seat at the head of the long table.

"God bless the griffin!"

The elderly monk Martin, who sat first to Peter's left, led everyone in reciting a slogan before they all took their seats.

Then, as is customary, each group began to report on their work.

The first one on the right is Tom the Blue Cat, the leader of the agricultural group and the leader of the hunting team. Next to him are Lucky Rack, the leader of the farmland team; Sauerkraut Pepper, the leader of the vegetable team; Wild Boar Pick, the leader of the animal husbandry team; and Marika, the leader of the horse breeding team.

Tom took out a piece of birch bark with some unknown symbols drawn on it. "It's currently the height of summer, and there's plenty of game. The hunting party can reliably get three game a day, supplying the camp with over 200 catties of meat daily. The cultivated farmland has reached 120 hectares, of which 30 hectares are planted with flax, which will be harvested in mid-June. 70 hectares are planted with oats, which won't be harvested until autumn. 20 hectares are planted with vegetables. There are 16 packhorses, 8 warhorses, 22 oxen, 2 boars, 17 sows, nearly 100 piglets, and chicks are still hatching. The manure produced is piling up and fermenting."

After Tom finished his report, he looked at Peter.

Peter nodded and turned his gaze to the next group.

Next was Doug the Carpenter foreman, with Axe the Logging foreman, Jack the Woodworking foreman, and Matthew the Construction foreman.

Doug the dog gave Peter a fawning smile before clearing his throat and reporting to his supervisor: "The carpentry team is doing well, felling about 100 trees a day. The woodworking team can cut 200 planks, forge 10 longbows, and 500 arrows daily; the construction team is building fortifications at the canyon entrance, expected to be completed within five days."

Doug the Dog's men are mostly prisoners, so stability is his top priority. Fortunately, he has mastered the strategy of dividing, winning over, and suppressing, and so far nothing major has happened.

Next was Romeo, the logistics team leader, with Bodina, the warehouse foreman, Pavlina, the herb-gathering foreman, Cook, the cook foreman, and Clara, the nurse foreman.

Romeo said politely, "Our current food reserves can sustain us until the autumn harvest. However, I still recommend continuing to hunt and purchase more food. With the addition of female apprentices, potion production is now stable at 30 bottles per day, but the pottery firing speed is hindering further increases in production. I suggest adding another pottery kiln."

After Romeo finished speaking, he gestured to the person opposite him.

Opposite them was John, the deputy leader of the combat team and squad leader of the first squad. Beside him were Andre the second squad leader, Redbeard; Ace the third squad leader, Hound; and Klaus the fourth squad leader. Also present was Monkey the militia captain, who was in charge of camp guarding and militia training.

John the Big Mouth scratched his head. He could kill people, but reporting was a real challenge for him. So he braced himself and said, "Our combat team has been taking turns attacking, and all the known bandit camps in Troski have been wiped out. There were no surprises at Crossroads Station either."

John the Big Mouth finished speaking hastily and handed the topic to the next person.

Next came the propaganda team. Two burly, heavily armored men, Carter the tomcat and Conrad the lone wolf, sat there, clearly unsure how to report. It was the old monk Martin who spoke: "Currently, everyone in the camp has learned to sing the 'Hymn of Thanksgiving,' and children under 12 are focusing on learning the 'Griffin Song' and basic swordsmanship. If permitted in the future, I will also teach them Latin reading and writing."

Peter nodded in agreement. Education would certainly be widespread within his territory; Latin, the foreign language, would be taught, as would Czech, the native language. Unfortunately, most European countries lacked their own written language, and Czech didn't become widespread until 1411, when Jan Hus wrote "The Czech Orthography," which was then introduced at Prague University.

The intelligence team members, including Jerry the Gray Rat, Robert the White Hair, Charlie the Handsome, Shevak, Michal, and Barbara, will no longer attend meetings or appear in public. They will only be responsible to Peter personally.

After everyone finished reporting, Peter began to assign tasks.

The first item was the establishment of the "Iron Works Group". Since Peter brought back more than thirty craftsmen, apprentices and laborers from Nebakov Castle, he set up a camp blacksmith shop and the Iron Works Group had actually begun to operate, although at that time, these craftsmen were still somewhat "captured".

The purpose of this meeting was to formally incorporate the blacksmiths of the "blacksmith shop" into the camp, grant them positions, and pay them salaries.

The ironware group was headed by Sidov, a blacksmith brought back by Nebakov, and its members consisted mainly of the craftsmen, apprentices, and laborers he had brought back. It was divided into four departments: smelting, weaponry, farm implements, and daily necessities. It used an assembly line process to mass-produce spears and farm implements.

Because of Henry's joining, Peter temporarily gave Henry the position of "quality control team leader".

Everyone looked curiously at Henry, the newcomer who had just joined and been promoted. They couldn't understand why Lord Peter valued this unassuming young man so much.

If you knew that Henry was a prodigy who could become a master swordsman, a master potion maker, a master blacksmith, a master thief, and a master archer in just three months, you would also look at him in a different light.

In fact, Henry's blacksmithing skills even surpassed Seedorf's. He was skilled enough to control the quality of iron products and was more than qualified to be the head of a quality inspection team.

Let's give a round of applause to welcome our new member!

Peter led the way, and everyone from the agriculture group, carpentry group, combat group, logistics group, and propaganda group applauded to welcome the establishment of the "Ironware Group" and the addition of new members.

Seedorf and the others rose to return the gesture of gratitude. They had been building the castle for Sir Nebakov for many years and had never received such treatment.

Henry couldn't help but smile as he felt the atmosphere.

After the applause subsided, Peter began assigning tasks.

"The pace of recruiting new members and reclaiming new farmland in the agricultural group should not be slowed down. Livestock pens should continue to be expanded, and we will continue to trade packhorses, draft cattle, piglets, and even sheep with foreign caravans."

"yes!"

"The carpentry team's main task this week is to build the fortifications at the canyon entrance and to forge 200 four-meter-long spear poles and 100 long flail poles."

"yes!"

"Besides the personnel stationed at the crossroads, the other three squads of the combat group will be dispersed to form village militia units in the villages of Trossky, Takhov, Zheleyov, Apolonia, and Draviko. Our camp will provide armor and rifles."

"yes!"

"Monkey continued to train the camp militia during breaks from work, taking over the task of guarding the camp from the combat teams. Martin, Carter, and Conrad provided guidance."

"yes!"

"The blacksmith team should prioritize making spearheads; I need you to complete the task of making two hundred spearheads within five days."

"yes!"

"The logistics team has prepared five horse-drawn carriages to accompany me on my trip tomorrow."

"yes!"

"Gentlemen, that cunning and vicious old wolf, von Polgao, will not accept defeat. He is waiting for the soldiers brought by his vassals from other regions."

Those foreign soldiers neither strictly abide by the laws of the local lords nor show any sympathy for the local residents. The soldiers can turn into bandits at any time to kill and plunder.

Only by completely defeating them can we protect the camp and all the civilians in the Troski territory.

Friends, remember the meaning of the Griffin Flag: strength, courage, and protection. We fight not only for ourselves, but also for justice!

"God bless the griffin, fight for justice!"

The crowd shouted in unison.
