Chapter 99 Blanco's Plea for Help

Watching Qiqi disappear through the double gates of the zoo, Bai Lin didn't follow. He believed that there was plenty of time, and as the threat of the Hastur Church gradually unfolded, the forces of resistance would surely unite. Right now, he was too weak and could only watch helplessly as Hastur's minions harmed people everywhere.

"I need to improve my strength as soon as possible..." Bai Lin strolled around the zoo's small square at night, watching the giant security guards on night duty walk back and forth. Fairies especially liked to hire giants as security guards. Bai Lin felt that apart from their fierce appearance, which was a bit scary, the giants' combat power and intelligence were really lacking.

When Bai Lin saw the open space he had prepared for the "Beast Arena", he suddenly had a thought: since the magical creatures that were sealed were only temporarily dormant after the Pokédex was upgraded, why should he be soft-hearted?

He found Patrice immediately. This wrinkled fairy, dressed in pajamas that looked somewhat like children's clothes, appeared in Bai Lin's office with a somewhat impatient expression.

"I hope it really is something important...Patrice hates having her rest time disturbed..." Patrice's tone was quite unfriendly.

"It's about the gladiator project. I've thought about it carefully and I think your idea is excellent. Demon Flame really shouldn't be kept like a kitten!" Bai Lin organized his thoughts. A few days ago, he didn't want to hand this project over to the fairies, but now he was trying his best to get Patrice to take it on. If Bai Lin sealed all the animals in the beast zone, who would be responsible for the loss? Bai Lin was sharpening his knives in his heart, just waiting for Patrice to take the bait.

Patrice was clearly intrigued and sat down opposite Bai Lin, unceremoniously pouring herself a cup of hot tea: "Go on, Mr. Kelin~"

Bai Lin coughed lightly and said, "Dark magic is not allowed, but white magic and melee weapons are permitted. Challengers can challenge any wild animal in the zoo. The winner will receive a prize, and any injuries or deaths are the responsibility of the challenger! I believe tourists will be interested in such an exciting activity! We can even broadcast it live!"

Patrice's eyes lit up; he could already picture the crowds queuing to place bets in front of the arena. "Well said! Mr. Kelling, that's exactly what I was thinking! We're on the same page! But what exactly is this live stream thing?"

Bai Lin said, "It's about using Muggle recording equipment to film it and show it to Muggles!"

Patrice jumped off the chair and paced back and forth in the room before finally stopping. "The fairies will have the venue set up within a week and will announce it throughout the wizarding world. But where's the challenger? Where's the first challenger? You know, fighting a scorpion without using dark magic is extremely dangerous! Where are we going to find such a fool?"

Bai Lin patted his chest and said, "Leave the challenger to me. I'll have him come to you with my letter of introduction! In addition, I hope the zoo can offer 1,000 Galleons as a reward and promise not to pursue any losses to the animals."

Patrice clapped his hands, beaming, and said, "It's a deal, Mr. Kelin. You'll get your share of all the profits after this is done!" Bai Lin thought to himself, "I hope you won't come after me after your precious fire dragon is sealed away..."

Bai Lin smiled and agreed, and discussed the details with Patrice. Patrice said that he would submit the entire planning and operation contract tomorrow. As long as Bai Lin and Elder Ross signed it, the event would go live immediately, but Bai Lin still needed to report to the Ministry of Magic.

Early the next morning, Bai Lin set off for the French Ministry of Magic. He had visited the Auror's office once before when Blanco invited him for tea, but this time he was going to report to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and the Department of Magical Creatures Control.

After signing a bunch of nonsensical documents and solemnly promising not to cause any casualties or animal abuse (in fact, even the inter-school league Fire Cup has a solo dragon-fighting event, so this promise is just for show), Bai Lin completed the project registration. Now it's up to Patrice to put in the effort.

Just as Bai Lin was preparing to return to Charlie Street with Floo Powder, a man wearing a black coat and a flat cap blocked his way. Bai Lin looked up and saw that it was none other than his old acquaintance, Blanco.

Blanco's face was gloomy, his brows furrowed. Recent events must have been causing him great distress. The killing of more than twenty members of the Black Witch Society on the spot was undoubtedly the biggest case of the year, and as the head of the Auror's office, Blanco was certainly not having an easy time.

"Kelin White!" Blanco called out Bai Lin's full name, as if even a simple title was difficult for him.

"Director Blanco, it's a pleasure to meet you! Is there something you need?" Bai Lin said politely. Blanco was the local bigwig in Paris, and maintaining a friendly relationship with him was always beneficial.

"I saw you from upstairs... so I thought I'd come down and say hello..." Blanco said, looking hesitant.

Bai Lin thought to himself, "Bullshit, are you really that kind of person?"

Despite his thoughts, Bai Lin still smiled and said, "Director, you're too kind. Please just say what you need, and I'll certainly be happy to assist you!"

Blanco stared at Bai Lin for a few seconds, then said, "Let's go to my office! You're also an employee of the British Ministry of Magic... this could be considered international cooperation..."

Upon arriving at Blanco's office, Blanco finally spoke haltingly: "You should have heard about the Black Wizard Society... You were right before, the spellbreakers have mastered runic weapons and armor, and ordinary wizards are utterly powerless against them, it's practically a one-sided massacre... And yet... many councilors still think it was an accident, that the dead and injured are all criminals, it's utterly foolish..."

Bai Lin asked, "Could you tell me more details? The news only gave a brief mention. How many guns and armor do they have?"

Blanco pulled out a stack of documents, which Bai Lin flipped through as he explained, "The Black Wizarding Society's gathering was in a small valley. The Spellbreakers' assault team first bombarded the valley with mortars. The bombardment didn't cause any casualties, but it disrupted the magical energy sequence or something else in the valley, preventing the wizards from using Apparition to escape. Then, three Spellbreakers in silver armor led the attack on the wizards in the valley without warning."

Blanco pointed to a photograph of a man's gruesome corpse riddled with bullets. "This is Babnarl, the leader of the Dark Witches. He was incredibly powerful and a wanted criminal by the Ministry of Magic... He was riddled with bullets by a revolver."

Blanco produced a note and said, "They came and went like the wind, fighting their way from one end of the valley to the other. After killing Babunar, they didn't linger and disappeared into the night. Witnesses said there were about fifteen of them, all armed with arcane firearms that could penetrate armor and protective spells, and they also had grenades that could blow up the earthen walls raised by obstacle spells. Their leader fought with Babunar, and Babunar even cast a killing curse, but before he could finish the spell, he was shot in the heart."

"What do you need me to do?" Bai Lin asked, looking at the documents.

"I beg you to join my investigation team and go to Egypt!" Blanco said solemnly.
