Chapter 89 Rose Manor
Bai Lin glanced at Finnis and said, "Aren't you from Elder Mortz's family? You seem quite familiar with the Ross family as well?"
"Ah, my master, the house-elf of the Seeker family, spent my childhood at the Rosdelmo family, where our elders trained us~" Phineas said with a nostalgic look.
Bai Lin thought to himself: This is probably brainwashing...
Following Finnis, Bai Lin entered the manor. Finnis did not forget to introduce the general situation of the Ross family, such as a thousand-year-old heritage and hereditary nobility. Bai Lin rolled his eyes. Like many families, when it comes to history, they try their best to embellish their own image, since you can't disprove it anyway.
Kaka was already standing at the gate with several waiters to greet him. He warmly stepped forward and shook Bai Lin's hand. Bai Lin smiled subtly and pulled his hand back. He felt that Kaka had squeezed him when he shook hands, and Bai Lin felt like he had been teased.
"The Elder is waiting for you in the main hall~" Kaka said enthusiastically, looking as if he wanted to take Bai Lin's arm with him.
Bai Lin smiled and stepped aside, following Kaka through a meticulously maintained garden. As they passed, roses of various colors bloomed along the roadside, only to return to their budding state after they had passed.
"Oh! Carey, you've arrived~" Elder Ross reclined on a magical rocking chair that floated in the air, surrounded by four young maids, comfortably reading the Daily Prophet in the hall.
"Oh, you old rascal, you have this kind of fun?" Bai Lin thought to himself, taking in the four beautiful and hot maids and their short skirts that only reached fifteen centimeters above their knees.
"Uncle Ross~" Bai Lin stepped up the steps and came to Elder Ross's side.
"Dinner's ready, let's eat and chat!" Ross's one eye made him seem anything but kind, but he tried his best to appear approachable.
"Have you seen Fudge lately? Goodness, I heard he's been incredibly busy! And of course, the French Ministry of Magic was in an uproar today..." Ross said as he walked.
As Bai Lin admired the decorations of the Rose Manor, he thought, "As expected of an old aristocratic family, any oil painting hanging on the wall could probably fetch a lot of money, if the figures in the painting don't move around."
After walking through the long corridor, we arrived at a restaurant built entirely of glass. It was not constructed with the light steel structure of a Muggle, but rather with glass, making it appear crystal clear, like the interior of a diamond.
The long dining table was large enough for more than twenty people, but only three sets of tableware were set out. Ross said, "Lulu heard you were coming and will be back tonight too. You don't mind, do you?"
"How could that be? I miss Lulu too... little sister." Bai Lin said politely. Since that day at the coffee shop, Bai Lin hadn't spoken to Lulu again. The concert incident didn't count. Bai Lin wondered why Lulu hadn't visited Ross in the hospital, but that was clearly not his concern. Kaka disappeared in a flash after seeing Bai Lin into the lobby. Bai Lin thought it was better that he wasn't there; he didn't want to be teased by Kaka's various mischievous pranks anymore.
Just as they sat down, a blue-green figure strode into the restaurant. Lulu's signature red hair was particularly eye-catching. She smiled radiantly, and her off-shoulder blue-green dress was elegant and appropriate, with a touch of sexiness. However, she seemed to have arrived in a hurry and was not wearing earrings or accessories.
"Hi~ Cousin Kaili~" Lulu greeted Bai Lin with her long, slender fingers. Bai Lin smiled and nodded in response. He felt that Lulu had become even more beautiful.
The three sat down at the head and guest seats, and Bai Lin asked, "Uncle Ross... have you seen the news about Newmongard?"
Ross pointed to the Prophet's Daily report he was still holding: "This is today's headline. It seems Grindelwald just disappeared without a trace! Wow! That old man was quite domineering when he was young. Voldemort was no match for him at all!" Ross didn't have the same fear of Voldemort that ordinary British wizards had.
Bai Lin said, "It might sound a bit alarmist... but before long, a brand new Grindelwald will appear, even more powerful... and perhaps with strange abilities that are incomprehensible to others..."
Ross gestured to the waiter, who immediately opened a small door to the side. A group of house-elves carried in various dishes, and Bai Lin noticed that they had specially arranged a Chinese-style roast duck for him.
Ross said, "Should I be afraid? My child?" He seemed not to believe a word Bai Lin said.
Lulu said, "You mean the first Dark Lord didn't die? Under such a powerful meteorite impact?"
"Do you know Professor Trelawney? She recently made a prophecy that the Dark Lord, who was repenting in the tower, was possessed by an evil spirit that fell from the sky, and then a meteorite hit Nurmengard a couple of days later. This can't be a coincidence, can it?" Bai Lin could only bring up the prophet to corroborate his statement.
"Trillaunie? Aha, are there any members of her family still alive? I heard they're all crazy..." Ross said, taking a sip of venison soup. If it weren't for the connection to Voldemort and extraterrestrial evil, Bai Lin would have also thought Trelawney was a madwoman.
Ralston paused for a moment and said, "Let's get straight to the point, kid. Whether Grindelwald is dead or not, why have you come to me?"
Bai Lin said, "I would like to see the Judgment Instructor!"
Ross asked in surprise, "Why do you think a soul mentor would be helpful in this matter?"
Bai Lin paused, then suddenly his thoughts became much clearer. He said, "As you know, Elder Moritz once let me meet the Night Mentor. It was a strange experience... The Night Mentor told me that the Outer Gods are about to invade, and the Seekers' family will be the one to protect the wizarding world..." He didn't mention that he also came from beyond the heavens, which Bai Lin considered a well-intentioned concealment.
Ross suddenly shuddered, slammed his hands on the table, and stood up. He seemed unusually excited as he said, "The Night...the Night Mentor really said that?"
Bai Lin also stood up and said, "It's absolutely true, I swear on the bloodline of the Explorer family!" Speaking of which, I don't even know what this bloodline is... If it weren't for the Summoning Encyclopedia, I'd still be a Muggle...
Elder Ross clutched the spot where he had been shot, seemingly still feeling a lingering pain. He thought for a moment and said, "Although each mentor's orb can only be used once a year, this is a matter of great importance. Lulu, you go with Kerry!"
Lulu stood up and readily agreed. Her expression was calm, indicating that she had already met with the trial mentor.
This meal is inedible. Bai Lin glanced at the roast duck on the table and thought to himself that it would be great if he could pack some up when he left...
