Hogwarts Summoning Guide

Chapter 480 Moral Blackmail

Bai Lin realized he really wanted to intervene and stop what was happening. These black wizards were good at bullying ordinary people, but they were nothing but weaklings in front of him. Destroying these dozens of old-fashioned bombers would be a piece of cake for him.

However, looking at the colorful crowds rolling in the flames in the street below, he thought of the countless crimes committed by Japan during its invasion of China, the dozens of massacres that turned countless cities in the East into hell, and the human experiments, germ warfare... Which of these was not more bloody, more terrifying, and more beastly than the scene before him?

This mental conflict quickly led to an inexplicable physical reaction; disordered elemental energy suddenly surged out from all parts of his body without him having to mobilize it.

"WTF! I've been morally blackmailed by that little bitch Fujiwara Eko!" Bai Lin cursed inwardly.

Bai Lin looked at his arm in a panic. Since he had integrated the power of the faction, he no longer relied on physical pain as a source of sensation. But now he felt an excruciating pain all over his body, as if he were being cut by knives or burned by fire.

His arm skin had turned a dark purple, with black, chaotic energy surging from his pores, breaking down and rebuilding the skin. Sometimes blood vessels and tendons would be exposed after the skin was annihilated, and sometimes the skin would regenerate rapidly, even growing reptile-like scales.

Bai Lin knew that his face, back, thighs... his whole body was in a state of energy collapse. If he was not careful, he might explode and die in a few seconds, turning into ashes, or be devoured by disordered elemental energy and become a mindless monster that only knew how to spread destruction and chaos.

There is no power without a reason. As the most powerful, violent, and quickest-to-become power in this world, disordered energy is not so easy to control. All along, Bai Lin has been able to achieve the state of power following his mind and intention reaching power. This is what Taoism calls the natural way, or the unity of knowledge and action in Confucianism, or the clarity of the sword heart in fantasy novels. Only in this way can he easily control this violent power.

However, at this moment, caught in an inner conflict, he no longer possessed a clear mind, thus losing control over the disordered elemental energy.

"Damn it, this little bitch has a pretty thorough understanding of me..." Bai Lin cursed as he desperately tried to concentrate, attempting to regain his clear mind and separate his senses from the hellish scene before him, thus preventing the chaotic forces from spiraling out of control.

Just as he was enveloped in a black aura, the American wizards in the air could not help but notice his presence and flew over, trying to burn Bai Lin to ashes with a fire spell.

Bai Lin gritted his teeth in hatred. He pulled out one hand and easily knocked several mages down from the air, but the spells they released had already erupted from their wands, burning hundreds of fleeing Tokyo civilians on the ground to ashes.

"Haha, it seems Brother Bai doesn't hold back at all when it comes to killing civilians? How is this any different from the Japanese massacre of civilians in the East eighty years ago?"

Bai Lin heard Edogawa Hiroyuki's teasing voice again.

"You've used up all your intelligence on crooked ways..." Bai Lin squeezed out a few words through gritted teeth.

"Brother Bai has misunderstood!" Edogawa Hiroyuki said, feigning surprise. "I was just relaying a message. The one who knows Brother Bai best is actually my sister!"

"Haoxing, you talk too much!" A young woman's voice rang in Bai Lin's ears. The voice sounded very familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere before. Bai Lin remembered seeing Fujiwara Eiko at the Lightship's base, but this was the first time he had heard her speak Chinese.

"Oh, sister, haven't you told Brother Bai your true identity yet?" Edogawa Hiroyuki said with a grin.

Fujiwara Eiko said in that familiar female voice, "Brother Bai probably doesn't even remember me anymore!"

Bai Lin's mind raced, and suddenly, as if struck by lightning, he remembered when he had heard that voice before.

That was the beginning of all the stories. Bai Lin was on his summer vacation trip on his native Earth when he suddenly heard a little girl's cry for help at a deserted retro train station.

He rushed over and saw a little girl, not even ten years old, sitting on the tracks crying and calling for help, seemingly having fallen off the platform. The platform was deserted; he couldn't see the little girl's parents or family.

The alarm for an approaching train could be heard not far away; it was an extremely urgent moment.

Bai Lin jumped down without hesitation, picked up the little girl, and lifted her onto the platform.

Bai Lin didn't remember what happened after that. When he woke up again, he was in the magical world, on the platform of King's Cross Station in London.

As Bai Lin recalled Fujiwara Eiko's voice, that past memory also became clear. It turned out that things weren't as simple as they seemed back then…

Bai Lin tried his best to lift the little girl up, but he felt that the little girl, who looked to weigh only fifty or sixty pounds, seemed to be getting heavier and heavier, and he couldn't push her up to the platform, which was about 1.67 meters high.

The little girl suddenly stopped calling for help, turned around and looked at Bai Lin.

She possessed an elfin beauty that surpassed almost everyone Bai Lin had ever seen, whether movie stars or university beauties.

At this moment, she didn't seem like a child under ten years old at all, but a young woman of seventeen or eighteen.

"Bai Lin, do you remember me?" Bai Lin suddenly realized that this girl was actually Xue Lin, who had died long ago, and his childhood sweetheart.

Just as Bai Lin froze, the speeding train arrived. Bai Lin felt his body, and Xue Lin's body in his arms, being smashed into pieces by the train, like bubbles.

But his consciousness did not end there; he heard a conversation.

"This is the guy you like? He doesn't look that great. As your alternate personality, I'm very disappointed, Sheryl..."

"I will never forgive you!" came the more familiar voice.

"What else can I do? You only have this little bit of consciousness left. Why don't you hand over the gift of the Sun God to me, and I'll live on for you, even rule the whole world? Wouldn't that be more meaningful?"

"Wishful thinking! The gifts of the sun god are not meant to satisfy one's own ambitions!"

"Sigh, it seems you and this guy named Bai Lin are quite alike. You can easily use moral blackmail and then casually sacrifice your own life..."

"The meaning of life is to dedicate oneself to the love in one's heart..."

"Nonsense! According to your logic, there would be no humans left in the world long ago! Let me tell you what the meaning of life is! It's survival of the fittest! The winner takes all!"

"I won't let you succeed..."

"Stop! You stupid woman! How could you...?"
