Chapter 449 The Forgotten Life

It's a new day. A week into the new semester, the classes are getting more intense. Bai Lin wakes up in his dormitory once again.

That day, I bumped into Yan Xiaoyun. In my haste, I carried her in my arms and took her to the school's infirmary. I also bought some fruit and snacks to take there. Over time, the two of them became acquainted.

Bai Lin has been trying to observe everyone around him these past few days, hoping to find some unusual clues, but to no avail.

He wakes up earliest every day and habitually practices a set of boxing moves in the corridor. Occasionally, classmates will watch from afar, but they are used to it.

It seems that Zhao Xixi has really decided to start pursuing Bai Lin. Every day, she tries to feed him all kinds of snacks. Bai Lin was afraid to eat them at first, but later he started to try them. He always has to do something to break the deadlock. If Zhao Xixi really poisoned the snacks, he would be more relaxed. At least he wouldn't have to worry about everyone every day.

However, Bai Lin, being a real scoundrel, gave Zhao Xixi's snacks to Yan Xiaoyun, who was still not very agile when walking. Yan Xiaoyun happily ate them all in front of Bai Lin, without showing any concern about the high sugar and high calories affecting her figure.

When Bai Lin woke up that day, he suddenly felt as if he had forgotten something very important, but he just couldn't remember it.

Seeing his distressed expression, Song Wenyu reminded him that he might have scored below 75 in a course last year, which could affect his scholarship this year; Zhao Xixi thought he might have forgotten what his family had asked him to do, and suggested that he call home more often; Yan Xiaoyun felt that he should relax a bit and not be so tense all the time, as university life is a very precious stage in life, and so on.

School clubs often approach Bai Lin to organize art exhibitions, cosplay events, inter-school activities, festival events, and so on. In short, there are many things that require his hard work.

The basketball team also frequently visits Bai Lin. There's a college basketball league in the second half of the year, and although he's technically excellent, he can't miss daily training sessions.

Bai Lin felt that his days were packed full, but whether it was his studies, organizing activities, basketball training, or even his relationship with Zhao Xixi and Yan Xiaoyun, everything went very smoothly, and before he knew it, it was October.

On Saturday, Bai Lin finished the group stage of the university basketball tournament. He stood out from the crowd with an average of 40 points per game and became the basketball star of Jian Da University. Zhao Xixi and Yan Xiaoyun would come to cheer for him at every game, which aroused envy and jealousy from Song Wenyu and many teammates.

On a rare Sunday when they had nothing to do, Zhao Xixi and Yan Xiaoyun dragged Bai Lin along to go shopping. The two girls seemed to have reached some kind of tacit understanding, and even frequently hinted to Bai Lin that he could have two women on either side of him.

The three of them browsed through the brand-name stores on the commercial street one by one. Soon, Bai Lin's hands were full of shopping bags. However, most of them were clothes and shoes bought for Bai Lin, and Bai Lin was not allowed to pay for them. This made Bai Lin feel like he was a gigolo.

"I really don't need this, I've already bought so many..." Bai Lin quickly stopped Zhao Xixi when he saw her go to get a suit again. Although he could play the whole game, shopping still made him very tired.

"Yes, yes! When the school leaders present you with the award, it will be more appropriate for you to wear formal attire!" Zhao Xixi said with a smile.

"That's right, that's right, senior will definitely look especially handsome in this," Yan Xiaoyun said with stars in his eyes.

Despite Bai Lin's weak resistance, they forced him into an Armani suit. Bai Lin was tall and well-proportioned, a natural clothes hanger, and looked quite like a star in formal attire.

Zhao Xixi happily swiped her card and proudly asked the cashier, "Isn't my brother incredibly handsome?"

The two of them, each holding one of Bai Lin's arms, walked out of the suit store laughing and joking. When Bai Lin looked up, he saw a familiar face.

A group of young people walked out of the designer store across the street, and the one leading them was none other than Young Master Zhong.

Upon seeing Young Master Zhong, Zhao Xixi's expression immediately darkened, and she tightened her grip on Bai Lin's arm.

After that incident, none of the thugs implicated Young Master Zhong, so the police couldn't do anything to him. For the next month, they saw each other frequently at school, and Young Master Zhong didn't cause Bai Lin any trouble. However, Bai Lin could tell that Young Master Zhong harbored a deep grudge against him. After all, seeing Zhao Xixi pursuing him naturally made Young Master Zhong feel very uncomfortable.

"It's that kid Bai Lin!" one of Young Master Zhong's henchmen whispered.

"Brother Zhong, should we go up and teach him a lesson..." another henchman whispered.

Young Master Zhong snorted coldly, a resentful glint in his eyes, and said, "That kid's family owns a martial arts school. Do you think the few of you can beat him?"

The henchmen, recalling Bai Lin's clean and efficient movements in the forum video, taking down five thugs in just over ten seconds, suddenly felt a little insecure.

But to run into him like this, Young Master Zhong felt incredibly embarrassed. Just as he was about to utter a few harsh words, he noticed that Bai Lin wasn't even looking at him, but was staring intently at the entrance of a bookstore not far away.

A small commotion arose in the bookstore as several employees chased a jet-black cat out of the store. Upon closer inspection, Zhong Shao realized that the black cat was actually carrying a rather thick book in its mouth.

Bai Lin sensed something, dropped the shopping bags in his hands, shook off the two girls, and rushed towards the bookstore. He was so fast that the two girls didn't even have time to react.

The black cat was very thin, and carrying a book that weighed at least a pound, it couldn't jump very high. When Bai Lin rushed over, the black cat threw the book, whose cover was already torn, in front of Bai Lin, then leaped onto a nearby sign and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

The shop assistant, seeing the book cover was already chewed up, angrily wanted to chase after it, but Bai Lin shouted, "Don't chase me! I'll buy this book!"

Zhao Xixi and Yan Xiaoyun exchanged a glance and followed curiously, only to see Bai Lin holding a somewhat outdated fantasy novel—"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone."

Bai Lin stared intently at the novel's cover, his entire body seemingly frozen in place like a statue.

When Zhong Shao saw Bai Lin suddenly dazed, he thought he had lost his mind. A hint of malice flashed in his eyes, and he gave a wink to his henchmen. The henchmen understood and quickly surrounded Bai Lin. Without saying a word, they kicked Bai Lin hard in the waist, knocking him to the ground.

Seeing Bai Lin fall to the ground, the other henchmen no longer held back and rushed forward like they were on steroids, punching and kicking Bai Lin.

Zhao Xixi and Yan Xiaoyun were terrified and rushed over desperately to grab Zhong Shao's henchmen, but they were also pushed to the ground. Bai Lin, on the other hand, remained in a daze, as if he had lost his soul. Although he had been punched several times in the face and blood was flowing from his nose and mouth, he just held onto the book in his hand tightly and did not utter a sound, as if he was not the one who was being beaten.

When Zhong Shao saw Zhao Xixi and Yan Xiaoyun crying and shouting as they tried to protect Bai Lin, even taking a punch for him, he felt even more hatred. He thought to himself: Kid, you're unlucky. I'm going to cripple you today!

Young Master Zhong reached into his pocket, where he found a small switchblade. He might not dare to kill someone in the street, but if he took advantage of the chaos to strike Bai Lin in the waist or ankle, Bai Lin would never be able to play basketball again, and might never be able to stand up again.

Having made up his mind, Young Master Zhong moved closer, aimed at Bai Lin's calf as he fell to the ground, and swiftly pulled out his switchblade, intending to stab him.

But the slash was suddenly blocked in mid-air by an invisible force. At the same time, the henchmen who went up to fight were hit head-on by an invisible car and flew backward one by one.

"Barrier of Will..." Bai Lin's body seemed to suddenly lose its weight, floating directly up from the ground. His left eye glowed with a pale purple light, while his right eye shone with a faint golden light. Pale blue hexagonal energy grids appeared around him, forming a protective shield that protected him, Zhao Xixi, and Yan Xiaoyun.
