Hogwarts Summoning Guide

Harry rushed back to the field and learned that because of his disappearance, the Gryffindor team was in a panic and had been overtaken by Hufflepuff by ten points, currently tied at 70 to 80. Fortunately, the opposing Seeker was chasing the Golden Snitch all over the field. His Comet broom was just a cheap one costing a few dozen Galleons, which was okay for normal times, but it was a bit of a stretch to use it to chase the Golden Snitch in the rain.

Bai Lin, who had returned to the arena with Catherine on his Firebolt, felt a little embarrassed as he watched the competition unfold. As Hufflepuff's teacher, he hadn't been able to help them much.

He sneaked up to Professor Pomona, the short, stout headmistress of Hufflepuff, who was watching with a hint of helplessness as Harry quickly caught up with their Seeker.

"Here you go, Professor." Bai Lin handed Professor Pomona a small package. Pomona was taken aback; she hadn't really spoken more than a few words to this new teacher who had been transferred to her college. She took the package and saw that it was full of Galleons, probably close to 200.

"Consider it my sponsorship of the team. I'll get the young man a new broom, at least a Nimbus 2001," Bai Lin said, scratching his head.

Pomona, having witnessed Bai Lin's generosity, gave him a thumbs up. After thinking for a moment, she took out a small trinket from her pocket and, without waiting for Bai Lin to accept it, stuffed it into his hand, saying, "Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Kelin. This is for you as a return gift."

Pomona is a professor of herbalism and also oversees the Hogwarts greenhouses. She remained relatively unknown in the early Harry Potter books, and Bai Lin had never paid her any attention. However, upon receiving what she handed him, Bai Lin immediately beamed with joy. Although he didn't recognize it, the encyclopedia reminded him: "Found a Magic Truffle. Eating it will increase your strength by 5." He hadn't expected Aunt Pomona to have such a wonderful item. It seemed he would need to communicate more with his boss in the future.

The contest ended with Ms. Hodge's whistle. With the help of the Firebolt's powerful acceleration, Harry caught the Snitch first, and Gryffindor scored 150 points to win the contest.

The rain had gradually subsided, but compared to the deafening cheers from Gryffindor, the Hufflepuff team members returned dejectedly, watching victory slip through their fingers—a truly unpleasant feeling.

However, Pomona didn't blame everyone. Instead, she told them to quickly go under the big umbrella, cast a spell to dry their robes, and then announced that Professor Kaelin White had donated a Nimbus 2001 to the Hufflepuff team. This made the team members feel a little better. After all, Firebolt was like a top-of-the-line sports car like a Ferrari, while the Nimbus series was a more realistic dream for ordinary students. Slytherin's Seeker, Malfoy, used a Nimbus 2001.

While Harry and Black were celebrating their victory in the Gryffindor common room, Bai Lin and Catherine were kissing in the tower of Hogwarts. Although the plan was meticulous, they had still taken a great risk to their lives, and Bai Lin felt like he had escaped death.

"Fortune favors the bold!" Bai Lin exclaimed.

"Sigh, if possible, I still hope you won't take such a big risk!" Catherine said with a hint of resentment.

Bai Lin flicked her cute nose and said, "There won't be a next time. Dementors only break free from their normal magic immunity when they open their mouths. Other enemies don't require such trouble. However, I will still be fighting Death Eaters in the future, so please don't get involved. I feel very guilty for putting you in danger as well."

"Don't underestimate me, I'm an outstanding graduate of Beauxbatons, no worse than you Hogwarts~" Catherine wrinkled her cute nose at Bai Lin, but then said with some worry, "But I've searched through all the books in the library and still haven't found a way to defend against the Avada Kedavra Curse."

"If it were that easy to find, it wouldn't be one of the three forbidden spells," Bai Lin shrugged. "We can only fight speed with speed. I can recite the spell faster than them, and hopefully I can knock their wands away first."

"Will the Death Eaters really attack Hogwarts? The Mystic has never dared to provoke Headmaster Dumbledore..." Catherine said with some distress.

The next day, however, another matter reached Dumbledore's office: Lupin's werewolf identity was revealed, and the Ministry of Magic issued a notice that Lupin could no longer be employed as a faculty member.

So the Defense Against the Dark Arts class teacher was now completely vacant. Our Half-Blood Prince Snape was obviously determined to take the position. But to Dumbledore's surprise, the assistant professor of Magical Creatures, White Scale, also volunteered to take the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.

Vice-Headmistress McGonagall, who was never on Snape's side, joined Professor Pomona in supporting Bai Lin. The two old ladies had a big argument with Snape in Dumbledore's office. It must be said that the old lady had quite a presence, and Snape was at a disadvantage. In the end, Snape was so embarrassed and angry that he issued a wizarding challenge to Bai Lin, with the winner becoming the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts. Bai Lin gladly accepted the challenge.

So, in the midst of the intense Quidditch tournament, the students of Hogwarts were greeted with an unprecedented bombshell: two teachers were to engage in a duel for the professorship.

Ron asked Hermione timidly, "Is the professor for this course paid very well? Why are we arguing about it?"

Hermione rolled her eyes. "Do you think it's a matter of salary? Although someone isn't a Gryffindor professor... I think if Snape were a professor, our Gryffindor grades would probably be all gone this semester."

As Hermione said, apart from the Slytherin students, no one wanted Snape to succeed, and the most excited were still Fred and George, who directly set up betting odds among the students to see who would win.

Which Gryffindor student hasn't suffered Snape's sarcasm and ridicule? Who hasn't been fined by Snape for the smallest mistake? Even Neville, who was bullied by him every day, had to admit that Snape was powerful, magically proficient, and almost omnipotent. Some even thought he might be the future headmaster, and the children were worried for their future juniors.

Aside from Harry, the three boys, and a few others, no one had really seen Bai Lin make a move. They just thought that this handsome new teacher was kind and good at explaining theoretical knowledge. His unique magical creature summoning spell was quite peculiar, but they didn't think much of Bai Lin when it came to dark magic and defense techniques.

The duel was scheduled for Thursday afternoon. Originally, it was a Defense Against the Dark Arts class for the third-year Gryffindor students, but it was temporarily changed into a wizard duel observation and practice session. The arena was set up on a flat lawn next to the broom shed, which was used by the flying class. Even Dumbledore came to watch the duel and act as the referee, wearing a tall wizard's hat. The students were packed in layers, making it a grand event at Hogwarts.
