Chapter 381 Gracua's Ambition
Although Gracchus is powerful, he is not omnipotent. Like the Queen Bee and the Queen Ant, his mind can directly control thousands of puppets, but it is not limitless. Previously, due to the interference of certain individuals, his plan to join forces with the Kraken Zemurus failed. Zemurus was injured and went into hiding, refusing to accept his messages again.
Gracua also learned from that failure that humans are not weak and vulnerable. The gods left many defensive mechanisms on earth. Once they formed a united force, even if he completely controlled Zemeus, he would not be able to succeed.
He had no intention of helping the ancient god Cthulhu break the seal. As someone who had wandered the solar system for thousands of years, Gracchus was very familiar with the defensive mechanisms left by the gods on the outer perimeter of Earth. If he were to activate the Silent One Orisaga or the moon goddess Artemis, it would be no joke.
So he abandoned his blind expansion, hid his tracks on the seabed, observed human behavior, and searched for a way to defeat humans. A sea battle more than two months ago caught his attention.
During that battle, the human wizard summoned all sorts of strange creatures to fight, but what interested him most were those creatures with tentacles on their backs, capable of invisibility and flight, and possessing extremely strong bodies. He was overjoyed, thinking that if he could control thousands of such creatures, no force on Earth would be his match.
So he tracked down the wizard who summoned the creature. Even though he used a strange teleportation spell, thanks to his network of informants that was almost all over the world, Gracua knocked on Fujiwara Ichiura's door in less than a month, pretending to be a property manager checking the water meter.
Through an intimate "exchange," Gracua and Fujiwara Ichiura poured out their hearts to each other, and the Church of Hastur and the Ship of Light formed a strategic partnership to jointly plot the overthrow of human society and fight side by side for the great dream of becoming the supreme god of the earth.
Through "communication," Gracoa learned that Fujiwara Ichiura had accidentally captured several strange underground creatures during a volcanic eruption several years ago, obtaining the "Black Heart." He used the cells of the "Black Heart" to create an ogre fusion, and used the virus parasitizing these strange creatures to create the "Calamity Virus."
These strange creatures were, of course, underground ogres, but Gracchus preferred to call them "servants of the gods," meaning slaves given to him by the great god Hastur.
With Fujiwara Ichiura's cooperation, Gracua quickly found some paths to the underground kingdom of the ogres. However, the underground passages were not safe. Although the toxic air and high temperatures could not harm Gracua, occasional earthquakes and landslides could be fatal.
After several attempts and the loss of dozens of "loyal followers," they finally found a place that could become the capital of the cannibal kingdom—Cheonjeyeon on Jeju Island.
Although the underground ogres crave the flesh and blood of humans on the surface, compared to the underground environment, they age dozens of times faster on the surface where there is plenty of oxygen and the temperature is below 50 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, the ultraviolet radiation from the sun during the day causes them even more suffering.
Therefore, throughout history, only a small number of individuals ventured to the surface to forage, while the vast majority of ogres established a slave kingdom in the underworld and built the underground city of Cerberia beneath Jeju Island.
Fujiwara Ichiura quickened his pace and stepped forward to clear a path, using spatial magic to expand the underground passage, which was so narrow that people had to crouch to move forward, so that the main force could pass through quickly.
The last large rock was blasted apart by the shattering spell, and a clear view suddenly appeared before everyone's eyes.
This is an underground space thousands of times larger than the Fujiwara family's underground research institute in Kagoshima. The cave ceiling, hundreds of meters high, is covered with stalactites that emit colorful, faint light. An ancient city, which seems very primitive and backward to 20th-century humans, is presented before them.
Dark brown stones formed dense clusters of nests, scattered throughout the city like stars in the sky. Unidentified plant vines, like the silk of an eight-eyed spider, intertwined and crisscrossed the city, forming a network of roads leading in all directions.
Attracted by the loud noise of the shattering spell, countless trolls with "kagune" on their backs emerged from their nests like ants and gathered along the plant vines toward the exit opened by Fujiwara and his group.
Compared to the "fusion" created by Fujiwara Ichiura by implanting the Black Heart into the human body, these "raw" trolls look more like "gargoyles" from Western mythology.
Most of them are less than 1.5 meters tall, crawl forward, have slender limbs, huge ears, triangular eyes that can see at night, long fangs, and dark skin that can hide them. They are ugly and ferocious.
"Summon the demon sword! Summon Aobozu! Summon Jorogumo!" Seeing the densely packed ogres surging towards him, Fujiwara Ichiura felt a chill run down his spine. He immediately summoned his strongest shikigami. This was not the time to conserve his strength, as Graccia might use him as cannon fodder.
The octopus-headed Gracua let out a hoarse, cold laugh and waved at Fujiwara Ichiura. His body grew to over three meters tall as if inflated like a balloon, and a huge scepter as thick as a bowl appeared in his hand, which he slammed heavily onto the ground in front of him.
A dazzling red light burst forth from the scepter, and an unparalleled force stirred up waves several meters high in the hard rock layer, creating a shockwave powerful enough to level a community. The shockwave swept forward, sending hundreds of ogres at the forefront flying away like flies swatting away mosquitoes.
Gracua then opened his hood, revealing dozens of fist-sized eyeballs growing from his previously bald octopus head, emitting a ghostly purple light that was utterly terrifying.
All the creatures around them—from the ogres to Fujiwara Ichiura and his shikigami, Fujiwara Eiko, and the members of the Ship of Light—widened their eyes in astonishment. For in that instant, it was as if their souls had left their bodies, soaring to the highest heavens. A magnificent nebula unfolded before them…
"Bring out your king... your god, come to save your souls... my servant..." Gracua's hoarse voice seemed to be filled with magical power.
Thousands upon thousands of trolls slowed their pace and ceased their angry roars, as if they had suddenly evolved from "fierce beasts" into devout and humble Puritans.
They slowly parted to make way for a path. At the end of the path, at the highest point in the center of Cerberia, stood a magnificent "palace" built of shimmering ore. A giant ogre, over three meters tall, kicked away the groveling little ogre in front of it and leaped down from the palace, panting heavily.
