Chapter 37 Gryffindor vs. Hufflepuff

Although the Gryffindor players were furious, it was clear that Slytherin's headmaster Snape also supported their team. The weather had been too bad these past few days, which was not conducive to the Slytherin team's performance, which relied on "tactics" to win.

Although Lupin was still in his sickbed, the substitute teacher was not Snape, but Bai Lin. Unlike Lupin, he did not actually capture a dark creature for everyone to practice on. Instead, he taught the children tactical thinking and teamwork in a humorous way. If this more theoretical course were taught by Professor Flitwick, the children would definitely be dizzy and unable to concentrate. However, everyone liked Bai Lin, and the Defense Against the Dark Arts class was very successful.

"I think you'd be perfect as a teacher!" Catherine said to Bai Lin as she stood outside the door to greet Bai Lin after class.

The two gave each other a big hug. After putting Catherine down, Bai Lin greeted Harry and gestured for him to come to the faculty lounge.

Although the Gryffindor students were the Hufflepuff team's enemies the next day, Bai Lin still sent Harry to the Hufflepuff common room to avoid a direct confrontation with Snape, whose allegiance was hard to discern. Although Bai Lin wasn't afraid of him at all, his main focus was still on the next day's operations.

In the staff lounge, Harry saw Black, who had been keeping a low profile for the past few days, and Lupin, who had just gotten out of bed. The only surprise was that the Auror Laut Archer with the onion-nosed nose was also in the lounge, drinking tea and chatting happily with Black, as if they had forgotten that just a few days ago they were mortal enemies.

Once everyone was present, Bai Lin closed the door and nodded to Laut, saying, "Gentlemen, today's main purpose is to discuss the defense and handling of some unexpected events tomorrow. We are honored to have His Excellency Laut participate in this operation."

"Um, sorry Professor, I have a Quidditch match tomorrow," Harry said somewhat timidly.

Bai Lin smiled and nodded at him, saying, "You can just participate in the competition as usual, but I need to remind you of a few things, which I will discuss later."

Bai Lin took out a blackboard, and Catherine quickly drew a map of the Quidditch arena. Bai Lin said, "As everyone knows, through years of research, I've acquired some talent." Black rolled his eyes.

"For example, divination. Perhaps I have opened my third eye like Professor Trelawney. In any case, I foresee that there will be some unexpected events tomorrow, so I need the help of all the gentlemen and ladies so that we can arrive in time and prevent any harm to the children. Oh, I mean, the impact on the game."

Bai Lin drew several circles on the Quidditch pitch with chalk and marked them with the initials of several people's names, saying, "Tomorrow, everyone, follow these positions and watch Harry's match together. Actually, I shouldn't be cheering for you; I'm a member of Hufflepuff, haha!"

Bai Lin chuckled and said, "If anything unusual happens during the competition—I mean, if any Dementors who haven't left Hogwarts show up—just disperse them immediately. As for the direction, just drive them towards the Forbidden Forest!"

Harry asked nervously, "Will the Dementors really appear? And why?"

Bai Lin smiled and patted him on the shoulder, saying, "Remember our special training, be fully prepared to meet uncertain challenges. If they don't come, fine; but if they do, I'll definitely make them pay!"

The next morning, Harry woke up thinking it was still night; a fierce wind was blowing and rain was pouring down outside. He met his teammates in the banquet hall.

Wood looked serious, but he was still confident about the match, mainly because of Harry's new broom, "Firebolt." He also learned that Whitescale hadn't lent his Firebolt to the Hufflepuff team.

Quidditch is the number one sport at Hogwarts, and the entire school's teachers and students came out to watch the game as usual. They all carried large umbrellas, but often had to protect their umbrellas from being blown over by the strong winds.

Harry and his teammates changed into bright red team jerseys. As usual, Wood gave everyone a passionate pre-game pep talk. After shaking hands and shouting slogans, they walked onto the field in the pouring rain.

Rain pelted Harry's glasses, which bothered him. How was he supposed to see the Golden Snitch? Luckily, Hermione popped out from the side as they passed the stands and cast a "waterproof" spell on his eyes. Harry thanked Hermione gratefully, but just then a clap of thunder rang out, and Hermione heard nothing.

The Hufflepuff team, dressed in pale yellow robes, walked towards them from the opposite side of the field. Hufflepuff had the most students, and their cheers briefly drowned out those of Gryffindor. After the two captains shook hands, Madam Hodge gestured for everyone to mount their brooms, and Harry skillfully flipped himself onto Firebolt.

Ms. Hodge blew her whistle, and the game began.

Harry was quickly soaked to the bone, feeling the chill of the winter rain. However, he was full of fighting spirit and energy. He darted back and forth across the field, occasionally passing by red or pale yellow figures. But he still couldn't find the thief. The rain was too heavy, and many players probably couldn't distinguish between teammates and opponents.

Despite this, the Gryffindor players displayed fighting spirit and took the lead. The Hufflepuffs also demonstrated loyalty and kindness, refraining from malicious fouls despite being at a disadvantage.

With a whistle from Ms. Hodge, as Wood called a pause, Harry and his teammates descended from the air.

During the descent, he saw Bai Lin give him an encouraging gesture. However, Bai Lin was still wearing the Hufflepuff team uniform and even had an exaggeratedly large hat with a badger on his head, making him look playful and funny. He was sitting opposite Hagrid, who was wearing a lion hat, in the Gryffindor stands.

The team members crowded under a large umbrella, and Harry asked, "What's the score?"

"We're fifty points ahead of them," Wood said. "But our visibility is too poor, so it might be a bit difficult. However, if you don't catch the Snitch, Harry, we'll probably have to play into the night. We're running out of energy pretty quickly."

Fred pouted and said, "Hedgehog is too conventional; we can't draw fouls." He and George often draw fouls by exploiting each other's mistakes.

Wood said, "Forget about penalty kicks. Let's play fair and square. Everyone needs to be prepared for a long game. I'll guard the goal."

Harry nodded and said, "I just got the hang of it. Don't worry, I'll find the thief!"

Wood nodded, adjusted the formation slightly, and signaled to Madam Hodge that the match could continue. Harry, riding the Firebolt, accelerated rapidly into the air, once again eliciting cheers from the Gryffindor stands. Black, standing in the back corner, waved frantically, giving off a parental vibe as if he wanted to tell everyone, "That's my godson! That's my godson!"
