Hogwarts Summoning Guide

Chapter 147 Moody's Teaching

"Don't stare at my legs..." Moody grinned, a piece of his nose missing, making his smile look more like a grimace. He said, "I lost them in the fight with the dark wizard, burned alive by Fiendfire. Even the best prosthetics can't connect to the nerves in my legs... So, study this lesson well, protect yourself, and don't end up like me..."

Bai Lin immediately realized that this was the real Moody. Little Barty could not possibly have the same genuine concern for his students as Moody. He had acted too eccentrically and recklessly in the Black Defense class. The real Moody, although somewhat overly cautious, was definitely a kind and gentle person at heart.

Before the start of the semester, Bai Lin made a special inquiry about Moody. He had retired due to health reasons when Voldemort fell from grace. Before retiring, he saved all the Aurors who had become Death Eaters and brought them back to the right path. Moreover, when fighting the Dark Wizard, he insisted on not using the Unforgivable Curse. No matter how you look at it, he was a respectable person.

"I heard that Professor White taught you Defense Against the Dark Arts last semester?" Moody asked, then called on Harry. Moody was a member of the Order of the Phoenix and an old friend of Harry's father, and had a natural fondness for Harry, though not as "obvious" as Barty Jr.

"Yes, Professor. Professor White and Professor Lupin each taught us for six months. They taught us a lot of practical skills," Harry replied. "They also taught us how to identify danger and avoid it in time."

"Aha, well, I don't have anything new to teach you," Moody said, then opened a small notebook after thinking for a moment.

Without demonstrating the three forbidden spells or abusing the poor spider, Moody told everyone a story for a whole class period, mainly about his experiences as an Auror and his insights when facing dark wizards or evil creatures. Not only the students, but even Bai Lin listened very attentively. No living person could share their experiences like Moody. Every wound on his body shone like a battle medal.

"Although his eyes are a bit strange... I think he's a good teacher..." Ron whispered to Harry. Harry wholeheartedly agreed.

When class ended, Bai Lin closed his notebook, went up and shook hands with Moody, said nothing, and turned to leave. He had to find other targets.

"What does he mean?" Moody asked, pointing at Bai Lin's retreating figure. Hermione shrugged and said, "I don't think Professor Kaelin will want to compete with you for the professorship, although I'm quite looking forward to it..."

"Ah-ha!" Ron suddenly became happy, seemingly recalling the scene of defeating Snape last year.

Bai Lin strolled to the corridor in front of the Hufflepuff dormitory, leaned against the painting by the old blacksmith Addison, and asked, "Hello, old master, how's the research on the runic equipment I gave you going?" After the opening ceremony battle, Lulu got Bai Lin some runic armor confiscated from the dead spellbreakers. The weapons were all confiscated by the Ministry of Magic, and not a single one was allowed to be released.

"You still owe me a hundred points..." Addison said as he walked out of the blacksmith's shop, smoking his pipe, and sat down on the stone stool by the door. During the previous arena battle, the possessed African mage was struck dead by a thunderbird's Five Thunderbolts, and Bai Lin didn't get any points. He only got the 200 points from the team formation reward, which wasn't even enough to cover the forging cost of the mana recovery ring.

"Are you afraid I'll renege on my promise? Hurry up, get out of class is about to end." Bai Lin glanced in the direction of the classroom.

This isn't a no-go, it's a recommendation for the treasure book "Hogwarts Summoning Guide":

Old Addison said, "They're all damaged items; their original functions are mostly lost. I'll upload the results to your catalog later..."

"Um... old man (as Bai Lin gradually became familiar with the old blacksmith, he began to call him old man), are you from Earth?" Bai Lin asked abruptly.

Addison looked up at Bai Lin. Although he was in the painting, his figure was hunched over, and the light was dim, Bai Lin could clearly see the sharp light in his eyes.

"It used to be, but that doesn't matter. I'm doing quite well now. I'll do my best to help you, and I hope you won't let me work for nothing." Addison took a puff of his cigarette, waved his hand, and walked into his blacksmith shop.

Bai Lin nodded, withdrew his gaze, and opened the encyclopedia as he walked upstairs. A prompt had already appeared on the encyclopedia:

Successfully deciphered the cryptic item and obtained Fire Magic Resistance LV1, Stun Magic Resistance LV1, and Mind Magic Resistance LV1.

Upon seeing the final result, Bai Lin was overjoyed. He didn't care about fire magic or stun magic; what mattered was the Mind Magic Resistance rune. If he could equip his teammates with a set of this, they would have even more confidence in dealing with the Church of Hastur.

Upon checking the price, it was exactly 200 points. Bai Lin quickly sent a message in the team chat:

"Attention everyone! You each have 200 contribution points. Quickly exchange them for a Mind Magic Resistance Rune and equip it on your personal items. Next time you encounter an octopus-faced monster, you won't be so easily one-shotted!"

Zhuo Bi: Received, will replace immediately. Last time I really amp()¥ (He swore a lot)

Yuxi: Yes, Captain!

Hagrid: ¥¥ (He doesn't know how to use the team chat yet)

Lulu: I have 1200 points, and I've already redeemed 6. I can give two to Zhuo Bi.

Bai Lin was taken aback. He thought of Lulu's participation in the North American siege and found that she had contributed so many points. However, he still approved of Lulu's arrangements. Zhuo Bi was his right-hand man and needed to fight on the front lines, so he had a greater need for secret texts.

After arranging the team, Bai Lin went directly to Dumbledore's headmaster's office, where Dumbledore was writing a new book in the sunlight.

"Grindelwald isn't dead yet, but he's in danger!" Bai Lin said bluntly.

Dumbledore nearly snapped the quill in his hand, showing how agitated he was. He stood up, forcing himself to calm down, and said, "I hope you know what you're talking about."

Bai Lin said, "You should have heard of Professor Trelawney's prophecy about the arrival of three Dark Lords. After several months of investigation, I have learned that the first Dark Lord is Voldemort. He is not yet in his complete body, but he has already joined forces with his servants."

The second demon lord came from outer space, the evil spirit Gracchus, a minion of the Great Old Ones. He arrived on Earth via a meteor and possessed Grindelwald. His story is more complicated…”

Bai Lin then recounted the events at the Hastur Church to Dumbledore in detail, including his experiences in the Egyptian dungeons and the arena, as well as Lulu's activities in America. Dumbledore listened intently, his brow furrowed, and did not interrupt Bai Lin. Bai Lin was unsure whether Dumbledore believed him, but he sensed a fighting spirit emanating from him.
