Chapter 109 The Power of Forgiveness

Bai Lin no longer needed to investigate. Perhaps the messenger of the Sun God was not originally himself, but Xue Lin. Perhaps after Xue Lin died, she never actually left him, but transformed into a black cat, silently protecting him until he encountered danger, at which point she used the power of the Sun God to allow Bai Lin's soul to travel to another parallel world, thus enabling him to survive.

"Sheryl brought me to the wizarding world..." Bai Lin murmured.

"Hahahaha! So what if she forgave you? Does that make you innocent?" Even though the shadow was chained, it still screamed, "How could you face her parents? How could you face the love she always had for you?"

"Thank you..." Bai Lin suddenly said.

Upon hearing Bai Lin's words, even Shadow stopped screaming, seemingly taken aback by what Bai Lin said.

"Thank you for telling me that Xuelin has forgiven me... I'm sorry to her... and I'm sorry to her parents... but what's the use of dying here? He sent me here so that I could live well!" Bai Lin said.

"Only by living can I give meaning to her plans!" Bai Lin punched Shadow in the waist.

"Only by living can I find a way in countless worlds to tell her that I love her too!" Bai Lin threw another punch at the shadow's body, but this time Bai Lin's fist missed. The shadow disappeared directly beneath him, and Bai Lin's fist slammed heavily onto the dark ground.

Bai Lin looked up and saw that Xue Feng had returned to his side, while Shadow, with the black werewolf, was walking away into the distance.

As they walked, the shadow said, "She heard it... Remember the power of forgiveness... Only a soul without regret can fight against the enemies in the shadows, and against oneself..."

As they spoke, the shadow and the black werewolf sank into the floor and disappeared, just as they had appeared.

Bai Lin felt his mind go haywire again. When he opened his eyes again, he was back in the dark dungeon. Less than 20 centimeters in front of him was the octopus face of the yellow-robed bishop, with a pearl-like egg stuck to one of his tentacles, about to be stuffed into his mouth.

Bai Lin's limbs were all entangled by the octopus-faced bishop, but Bai Lin didn't know where the strength came from. With a flick of his finger, the jade-handled dragon that had been thrown in a corner of the cell flew over and pierced the octopus-faced bishop's back from behind.

The octopus-faced bishop screamed, and the tentacles binding Bai Lin's limbs loosened. Bai Lin quickly pulled his arm back, clenched his right hand into a claw shape, and roared, "Death Bind!"

The dark green Death Coil energy, which normally requires a wand to cast, gathered in Bai Lin's palm and instantly formed a fist-sized skull. Just like when he first encountered the Dementors on the Hogwarts Express, Bai Lin actually grabbed the energy skull with his hand and slammed it heavily onto the octopus-faced bishop's head.

A violent explosion occurred from the octopus-faced bishop's head. Bai Lin was thrown backward by the shock and fell onto the dungeon floor. The octopus-faced bishop's entire head was blasted into pieces by the Death Coil. Countless severed tentacles were covered in dark green energy, as if they had been touched by black flames. They struggled and curled up on the ground for a while before slowly withering away.

The octopus-faced bishop's body crashed to the ground, his limbs visibly withering away. His once obese body transformed into a dried-up corpse within seconds. The pearl-like egg fell to the ground, and Bai Lin decisively stepped forward, crushing it into a puddle of sticky crumbs.

Bai Lin touched his nose and ribs; he wasn't injured. The battle with the shadow seemed to have occurred in his mind. Perhaps the octopus-faced bishop's mind magic hadn't harmed him, but instead resolved a long-standing knot in his heart. From now on, Bai Lin felt he would not only live for himself, but also for Sheryl's sake, living well together.

"Bori! Hamil... wake up!" Elijah's voice came from the side. He had just watched in disbelief as Bai Lin suddenly froze and was then entangled by the octopus-faced tentacles. But less than two seconds later, Bai Lin seemed to suddenly wake up and instantly killed the octopus-faced creature. Elijah was speechless. If you have that kind of power, why didn't you just unleash your ultimate attack at the start? However, he didn't dare say it aloud, because in his eyes, Bai Lin was now on par with the Dark Lord.

But Elijah's calls went unanswered by the three Aurors kneeling on the ground. They were as if petrified, their mouths agape, their faces blank, and no matter how Elijah shook them, they remained unresponsive.

Bai Lin knew that perhaps their souls were no longer in their bodies, as if they had been kissed by Dementors, leaving only empty shells. These octopus monsters wanted to use these shells to parasitize and possess them, just as the octopus-faced bishop had said, he treated humans as lambs and he was the shepherd.

"Take them back to Paris. We not only have the Spellbreakers and the Dark Lord, but now we have a new enemy. Perhaps I need to talk to the French Minister of Magic as well..." Bai Lin said.

The soulless Auror and the octopus-faced bishop's remains were successfully brought back to Paris, but the Ministry of Magic still imprisoned the three escaped individuals, Bai Lin, and his companion, awaiting a hearing with the Egyptian authorities.

Bai Lin did not see the French Minister of Magic, but to his surprise, he met Fudge in the reception room of the French Ministry of Magic's underground prison area. Fudge had a furrowed brow and looked somewhat dejected, as if he had been having a lot of bad luck lately.

When Fudge saw Bai Lin, he seemed to be angry. He sat down in front of Bai Lin, lit his old pipe, and said, "Kelin White, you've gotten me into trouble again."

"I..." Bai Lin was about to speak when Fudge interrupted him: "Don't tell me about the threat of the Dark Lord or the threat of the Spellbreaker! Now, is there another threat from an octopus monster?? I'm fed up with you people spreading rumors all day long!"

Bai Lin was so angry at Fu Ji's words that he almost laughed. How many people would have to die before you "high-ups" would admit that our world was under attack by evil? Couldn't you have prepared for war in advance?

However, considering that Fudge in the original work is such a complacent person, although he is not a follower of Voldemort, he is completely oblivious to Voldemort's series of actions, and even makes many decisions that leave readers puzzled in order to conceal Voldemort's resurrection, such as forcibly dismissing Dumbledore and replacing him with Umbridge as headmaster.

Thinking about it that way, it would be strange if he took the lawbreaker who killed several French "thieves and robbers" seriously, or the mummified corpse he inexplicably brought back.

However, Fudge finally said, "You should thank Moritz. He spoke on your behalf, saying that you were forcibly conscripted by Blanco without your knowledge to deal with the Sphinx guarding the sacred pyramid. You didn't use any black magic; you were just a deceived expert. The Egyptian authorities agreed to release you."

"What about Zhuobi and Elijah?" Bai Lin asked.

"Mind your own business!" Fudge said angrily, standing up and turning to leave.
