All of France: The ancient king's dream, inheriting the curse of the abyss.
Chapter 2 Meditation and Hidden Talents
…………
Despite his splitting headache, he walked straight through the crowd towards the classroom of Class 8, Grade 11. The feeling of being isolated was unpleasant, but he didn't intend to explain anything. The Necromancer class inherently carried original sin; no amount of explanation would change that—it was better to let his strength speak for itself later.
Just then, a warm and powerful hand slammed onto his shoulder, almost making Logo, who was already suffering from a headache, stumble.
"Hey! Log! Why the long face so early in the morning?"
A familiar, loud voice boomed in my ears, carrying a roguish, cynical air.
"Mo Fan, be gentle." Logo rubbed his shoulder and turned his head away irritably. "I didn't sleep well last night, and I have a headache."
The boy standing behind him had messy, tousled hair and a signature smirk on his face; it was Mo Fan.
"Didn't sleep well? Hehe, were you too excited about awakening your necromancy and went to the mass grave to party with the little devils all night?" Mo Fan teased with a wink, casually putting his arm around Logo's neck, looking like the two buddies.
Log rolled his eyes. "Get lost. I had nightmares all night. But you, you awakened your fire element yesterday, and you're practically strutting around like a headless chicken, aren't you?"
Mentioning this, Mo Fan immediately perked up, straightening his already upright posture even more, with a "come praise me" expression on his face.
"That's right! Don't you know who I am? I'm destined to become the strongest mage!" Mo Fan boasted smugly, his voice so loud it seemed the whole school could hear him. "Fire magic is just the beginning. Once I've mastered it, lightning and ice magic will all be reduced to ashes by my flames! Then, I'll have your back!"
Xue Musheng's lectures were very detailed, and he didn't show excessive rejection despite Logo's awakening of the rare necromancy ability. In fact, after the initial shock, the atmosphere in the class gradually shifted from fear to a kind of distant curiosity.
After all, in this world where magic reigns supreme, power itself has no absolute good or evil. Although necromancy sounds sinister and seems mysterious due to its constant dealings with corpses and souls, it is ultimately a branch of orthodox magic. The students looked at Logo more like they were looking at a rare beast, finding him "aloof" and "mysterious," but no one actually dared to confront him directly.
"The first step in magical training is meditation."
Xue Musheng stood on the podium, holding a star-sensing stone in his hand, and said in a serious tone, "There is only a tiny speck of stardust in your spiritual world right now. What you need to do is close your eyes, use your thoughts to sense it, nurture it, and let it grow from a state of nothingness into something powerful."
"And the second step is called control."
Xue Musheng paused, his gaze sweeping over the young faces below the stage. "There are seven stardust particles within the stardust, dancing around like mischievous children. Your task is to use your mental power to capture them, to make them obediently align themselves in a star orbit. When the seven stardust particles are in a line, magical power will descend!"
"Normally, it takes several months to complete the meditation and enter the control stage. To fully control the seven star elements and unleash the first basic spell, most people need a full year of arduous training!"
The audience erupted in uproar; clearly, everyone felt that a year was too long.
Logo sat by the window and, following the teacher's instructions, slowly closed his eyes.
Darkness descends, and the clamor fades away.
As his consciousness sank into the spiritual world, the stardust belonging to the necromancy school emerged. Unlike Mo Fan's restless fire element and Zhang Xiaohou's ethereal wind element, Logo's stardust was a deep, dark expanse with a faint grayish-white halo around its edges.
In this desolate stardust, seven gray-black stars float silently.
"Teacher Xue said that the stars are like naughty children, hard to catch..." Logo muttered to himself, tentatively extending a wisp of his spiritual power, wanting to touch one of the stars.
However, something shocking happened.
As soon as his spiritual power approached, the star that should have been roaming around and difficult to tame suddenly stopped in place, as if it had sensed some supreme call, and even trembled slightly, as if it was... surrendering?
Logo was stunned. He then tried to contact the other stars.
Without exception.
As soon as he had a thought, those stars were like well-trained soldiers who heard their general's command. Not only did they not resist at all, but they rushed to approach his mental power, obediently!
"These aren't just naughty children; they're practically a group of death squads waiting to be inspected." Logo's mind was in turmoil.
He suddenly remembered that dream, the figure who called himself the Ancient King.
"Could it be because of that dream? Because I am a so-called descendant of an ancient king, are these undead planets born to bow down to me?"
Time flies, and half a year has passed in the blink of an eye.
The winter in Bo City is damp and cold. On the playground of Tianlan Magic High School, the students are still working hard to control the stars.
"Ugh! I'm so angry! How come this fifth star is so slippery! It runs away every time I catch it!" Zhang Xiaohou wailed, grabbing his hair and looking utterly devastated.
Several classmates nearby sighed, "Don't even mention it. I can barely control three now. When will I be able to unleash the magic?"
Mo Fan also had a "constipated" expression on his face. Although he was actually struggling with the dual cultivation of lightning and fire elements, to outsiders, he looked like a slacker who had hit a bottleneck.
In a corner of the crowd, Logo leaned quietly against a tree trunk, reading a book titled "Illustrated Compendium of Undead Creatures".
"Logo, how are you?" Mo Fan leaned closer and asked in a low voice, "You don't usually seem that anxious, are you stuck too? Are the undead star particles particularly difficult to deal with? I heard those things have a lot of yin energy and even weirder personalities."
Logo looked up, saw his best friend's concerned eyes, smiled slightly, and closed the book.
"Yes, it's quite difficult." Logo lied without batting an eye. "Those stars are lifeless and can't be moved at all. I can barely sense four or five of them."
"That's not bad! You're better than me!" Mo Fan patted Luo Ge on the shoulder, seemingly finding some psychological balance. "We're in the same boat, let's just hang in there. Anyway, there are still six months until the assessment."
Logo nodded without explaining further.
In fact, as early as last night, in his cramped rented room, he had already accomplished what everyone had been dreaming of.
At that moment, he sat cross-legged on the bed, his mind stirring slightly. In his mental world, seven gray-black stars responded instantly, returning to their positions with astonishing speed.
