The Straw Hat Pirates' Scientist

Chapter 8 Betting and Dealing

"Luffy, she's an exceptionally skilled navigator. You won't find a better one," Ron immediately said.

"Really? I'll go find her right now!"

Luffy excitedly adjusted his straw hat and ran quickly toward the storage room.

He had no doubt what Ron said.

"That Nami thief, she actually stole from me!" Ron muttered to himself with a strange expression.

In fact, Ron's original plan was to sail the pirate ship directly to Cocoyasi Village.

After all, Nami spends most of her time wandering around the East Blue, looking for opportunities to steal from pirates.

Finding her would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

But even if the monk can run away, the temple can't; no matter what, the other party will definitely return to Ah Long Paradise.

So all Ron needs to do is go there and wait in advance, and he will be able to meet Nami.

To his surprise, Nami appeared on the merchant ship opposite, and was even preparing to steal the ship's treasure.

This is deviating more and more from the plot.

But Ron didn't care at all.

He enjoyed the process; as for the final outcome, that was not something Ron could control.

No one can control fate.

Ron certainly didn't think that just because he had transmigrated, he would become a protagonist with a halo of invincibility.

Because in the world of One Piece, there is only one true protagonist...

That's Luffy!

Everyone else was just there to make up the numbers, perhaps including him, the time traveler.

Unless Ron pulls out his pistol right now and blows Luffy's head off, let's see if the world will be destroyed.

But he's not crazy, so naturally he wouldn't do that experiment.

"Unfortunately, Nami will be disappointed!"

Ron stopped thinking about these things and walked towards the storage compartment, a slight smile on his face.

Most of Alvida's wealth had long been given to the system by Ron and converted into points.

Of the total of over 400 million Berries, Ron only kept some money to buy materials.

The rest was converted into points, a total of 4000 points.

Now, adding the remaining 100 points, Ron now has 4119 points.

However, now that he has encountered Nami, Ron will naturally not let this opportunity pass him by.

Although there are many navigators, Nami's talent is definitely among the best.

This can be seen not only in the plot of the animation.

Even a seasoned pirate like Shiki the Golden Lion couldn't forget Nami's navigation skills.

This shows that Nami's talent in navigation is absolutely top-notch.

Moreover, having another hot beauty in the pirate crew is a pleasure in itself.

"Impossible, I would never be a pirate, I hate pirates the most."

Before Ron even stepped into the storage compartment, he heard Nami's roar coming from inside.

"It seems Luffy's persuasive skills aren't strong enough." Ron shook his head helplessly.

The ability to talk one's way is essential for every protagonist, but unfortunately Luffy's ability to talk his way out is ultimately lacking.

It's clear that Luffy's entry just now failed to persuade Nami.

"But Ron said you are the best navigator, and if I want to become the Pirate King, I naturally need the best navigator. Without you, I can't become the Pirate King."

Luffy rubbed his face helplessly.

Although Luffy didn't know why Roon said Nami was the best navigator, Luffy didn't want to think about it too much.

He was convinced from the bottom of his heart that Ron wouldn't lie to him; it was his gut feeling.

Luffy believed his instincts were right!

So if Ron says Nami is the best navigator, then Nami must be the best navigator.

To become the Pirate King, reach the final island, and find One Piece, he needs the best navigator.

However, the other party was unwilling to become his partner, which gave Luffy a headache.

He didn't know how to convince Nami to become his partner.

"Ron, you're here! Please help me talk to her!"

"I want her to be my partner," Luffy said urgently as he saw Ron enter.

"It's no use who comes! You despicable pirates, I feel disgusted just looking at you, I will never be your ally."

Nami saw Ron walk in and immediately spoke.

However, looking at Ron, who had delicate features and a sunny disposition, Nami couldn't help but glance at him a few more times.

Although Luffy is also the kind of guy who grows on you and has a hearty laugh, he has a different, exotic quality compared to Roon.

In fact, Ron understood this as well.

After all, he comes from the East of Earth, and his appearance is completely different from that of the pirate world.

It's like a blonde, blue-eyed woman, resembling a Hollywood star, suddenly appearing in his old small town.

That feeling is naturally different.

"Nami the Cat Thief!"

Ron looked at Nami, then put his hands in his pockets and leaned against the wall, smiling as he slowly revealed her identity.

"You actually recognize me?" Nami was stunned, not expecting Ron to recognize her.

After all, not many people know her nickname "Little Thief Cat".

"So your name is Nami! Ron, quickly persuade her to become our partner," Luffy said hastily.

Ron immediately waved his hand, signaling Luffy not to rush.

Born in the Kingdom of Oycot in the East Blue, he became an orphan as an infant due to a pirate attack.

He was later adopted by the Navy's Bellemere and lived with her in Cocosia Village ever since.

Unfortunately, eight years ago, the village was attacked by Aaron's gang, and Bellemere died protecting you.

For the past eight years, you've desperately tried to raise money, even risking your life to steal from pirates, all in an effort to redeem your village from Arlong.

Am I right?

Ron looked at Nami with a calm gaze, while speaking fluently.

But Ron's calm words struck Nami's heart like a heavy hammer.

The other person's body trembled slightly, and their eyes instantly turned slightly red.

How do you know so much about me?

Even Arlong and his gang weren't entirely aware of these things, so how did you know? Nami couldn't help but roar, her voice trembling with tears.

Nami didn't know Ron at all, but he seemed to know everything about her, as if he knew everything.

This caused a sense of fear to rise deep within Nami's heart.

Even though she is now 18 years old, she is still just a young girl in the prime of her life.

In particular, over the years, Nami has improved her skills and moved between various pirate crews, successfully deceiving and stealing a lot of wealth.

But in the end, she was just a little girl.

He became an orphan at a young age and witnessed his adoptive mother's tragic death when he was 10 years old.

The emptiness and scars deep within the heart of such a girl must be incredibly dark and tragic.

Now, in an instant, her deepest secret has been revealed, and her outward facade has been exposed.

This terrified Nami instantly, and the hairs on her entire body stood on end, like a frightened cat.

"So you've had a really tough time!"

Luffy, standing beside him, blinked, his face full of surprise.

His gaze toward Nami held a hint of solemnity, and a fleeting determination.

From the moment Ron said that Nami was the best navigator, Luffy knew deep down that she was the crewmate he wanted to invite.

Although Nami hasn't agreed yet, what does it matter to me whether you agree or not?

Hearing about the tragic backstory of his future crewmate, Luffy immediately empathized with them.

A surge of anger welled up from the depths of his heart.

He seemed to understand why Nami didn't want to become his partner.

There was even a slight understanding of what he needed to do to make the other person his partner.

However, this feeling is still somewhat vague, and I'm not quite sure what to do specifically.

"Who I am is not important; what's important is whether you know who you are and what you want."

Ron looked at Nami and spoke calmly.

"What exactly are you trying to say?"

Nami's voice was trembling with tears and terror; she was becoming increasingly afraid of the man in front of her.

Although the other person seemed sunny, warm, and handsome, every word they said could touch the deepest wounds in my heart.

Especially the other person's eyes, deep yet bright, as if they could see through everything.

It was as if there was nothing in this world that he didn't know.

She had only ever seen that look in the eyes of a very learned old scholar.

She couldn't imagine how this man, who looked only a few years older than her, could have such eyes.

In reality, if Ron were back on Earth, he certainly wouldn't have such a profound gaze.

But once you come to the world of One Piece, there's no way to avoid it.

After all, before he transmigrated, he had read the One Piece manga and anime at least four or five times, and had seen all the theatrical versions.

While I wouldn't dare say I know everything about this world, I'm pretty close.

Therefore, it is natural that he views the people and things in this world with an innate sense of superiority and prophecy.

This is the sense of superiority and pride that any Earthling would feel upon transmigrating into a familiar two-dimensional world.

"Let's make a bet," Ron suddenly changed the subject.

"What do you mean?" Nami was stunned for a moment, clearly not expecting Ron to suddenly suggest a bet.

"Actually, deep down you still can't forget your past dreams, but you can't abandon the village."

Because this is the village where Bellemere lived, a testament to your time together.

You must feel guilty and remorseful about Bellemere's death, right?

But there's one thing you don't know: although Arlong promised you that he would redeem the village and set you free once you've saved up 1 million Berries.

But actually he's just lying to you!

You'll never be able to scrape together 1 million Berries...

Even if you are close to accumulating enough wealth, the moment you do, that wealth will no longer be yours, and you will have to start all over again.

This was Ah Long's plan: to keep you by his side forever, locked in that cage called the Measurement Room.

You will ultimately become nothing more than a tool for his ambition.

Believe it or not, that's the truth.

So I'll make a bet with you!

You can go back and bomb Ah Long to test whether what I said is true or false, and whether he will let you leave.

Then I'll make another deal with you.

We will help you defeat Ah Long and take back your village.

The price you have to pay is to join us and become a navigator on our ship.

In this way, we gain an excellent navigator, and you also have the opportunity to realize your dream again.

Although it might sound a bit boastful of me to say this, I still want to tell you...

We are different from ordinary pirates, at least not the kind of vicious, murderous, and plundering pirates you imagine.

And this stubborn guy is our captain. Once you get to know him, you'll find that he deserves to be called captain.

How is it?

Want to make this bet with me?

You won, you won't lose anything.

But if you lose, it's the same as winning. I think you're smart enough not to refuse this bet, right?

Ron's words echoed in Nami's heart like a series of thunderclaps.
