The Walking Dead: Starting as a Cowboy
Chapter 2 Bison Pass
Caesar stood up, his expression solemn: "This time, we're going out."
"Firstly, it's to close the Bison Pass. That's necessary; no one objects, right?"
Look around.
Old cowboy Lloyd was the first to nod: "I have no objection."
Others agreed.
"Okay, then next, let's go to Alexandria. Rip's girlfriend and Jimmy's grandfather are both in Alexandria."
Rip clenched his fists, his expression hidden beneath his cowboy hat, but Caesar could sense his agitation.
Young Jimmy suddenly stood up, looking at Caesar with surprise and delight: "Boss, I... I really don't know what to say to thank you!"
Jimmy took two steps forward and hugged Caesar, murmuring repeatedly, "Thank you... thank you, boss."
Caesar patted Jimmy's back, sniffed, and quickly pushed Jimmy away: "Fuck, Jimmy. Do you sleep in the cowshed every day? Please, take a bath!"
"Ha ha ha ha--"
The restaurant erupted in laughter, and Jimmy's pale face turned red instantly. His hand dangled in his back pocket, rubbing it back and forth.
"I'll take a shower when I get home tonight."
Jimmy is still young, and he can't stand even the slightest teasing.
After accepting Jimmy's gratitude, Caesar continued, "Lloyd, where are your relatives? If any are in Atlanta, we'll bring them back as well."
Lloyd's white beard was rough and unkempt, and it moved as he spoke.
"I'm practically half-buried, and I have no family left."
"Most of my relatives are either in prison or about to be in prison. I don't know if they're alive or dead," Tite said nonchalantly, his expression somber.
The mature and steady Ryan and Colby shook their heads.
"Okay, then we'll set off tomorrow. It'll be me, Rip, Jimmy, and Tite going tomorrow, the rest of you stay behind."
"Be very careful. Someone might sneak into the ranch while we're gone. If we find them, leave no survivors."
"Lloyd, you know what I mean!"
Lloyd and Caesar exchanged a glance, sensing a murderous aura, and nodded.
Lloyd was highly respected, and after Caesar and Rip left, he was in charge of managing the others.
The ranch had plenty of food reserves, enough to feed several people well for dinner.
This flavorful beef brisket has been roasted in the oven for a long time, resulting in a black exterior. When cut open, you can see the tender pink meat inside, and the rich aroma of meat fills the air.
With macaroni and garlic mushrooms, the dinner may not have many dishes, but the portions are quite generous.
After the cowboys had eaten and drunk their fill, they returned to their lodgings.
There are only a few houses on the ranch that can be lived in. Caesar's stone house is the largest and most comfortable, and can accommodate a family of several people, but Caesar lives there alone.
There's also the cabin where Rip lived, and the cowboy cabin where Lloyd and the others lived.
In addition, there are two or three vacant houses.
These were all included as a byproduct when Caesar bought the ranch.
Lying in bed at night, Caesar stared at the ceiling, unable to fall asleep.
He got up and went to the study, took out a yellowed notebook, and started writing and drawing in it.
Caesar knew that his greatest advantage was knowing the plot, or the information gap.
Knowing the existence of certain forces, their weaknesses and problems, and how to defeat them.
Defeating them would yield extremely rich and considerable personnel and resources.
Caesar wanted to seize these forces to strengthen himself.
After thinking it all through, Caesar stopped writing and tore up the plan he had written down.
The match was struck, ignited, and dropped into the paper.
As the flames burned, a smile crept across Caesar's lips; he saw his own ambition reflected in the fire.
……
Cowboys rarely sleep in; they get up early to take care of their cattle, sheep, and horses.
Usually, the youngest and most junior cowboy would be the first to arrive at the stables to clean up the horse manure and feed each horse.
Jimmy was used to getting up early, so he picked up his tools to clean up the horse manure and put out the hay.
Just as he was busy working, Caesar suddenly appeared: "Why don't you rest a little longer today?"
"We're about to set off."
Jimmy turned around and saw it was the boss. He grinned and said, "Rip said the ranch took me in, so I should be the first to get up and do the most work."
"Alright, are you all packed? We're about to leave."
Jimmy paused for a moment, then pointed to the horses behind him: "Aren't we going to ride horses?"
Caesar said speechlessly, "It's an hour and a half drive from Atlanta. You want us to ride horses? You may not care about the horses, but I do."
Having said that, Caesar strode out of the stables, his back view tall and imposing.
Jimmy stared blankly for a long time.
The food, weapons, clothing, and walkie-talkies they carried on the road were all packed into the two pickup trucks.
Caesar and Jimmy were in one car, and Tite and Rip were in another.
Jimmy touched the car with excitement, his smile impossible to hide, his lips curving upwards as he kept touching it.
Seeing his expression, Caesar felt a bit of a headache: "You're not a newbie, are you?"
When Caesar asked this question, he already had the answer in his heart.
But even after receiving a positive answer, Caesar still couldn't help feeling a headache.
"I'll drive."
After being forced to change seats, Jimmy tried to explain his driving skills.
Caesar raised his hand, immediately silencing Jimmy.

Rip knocked on the car window and pulled up his sunglasses so he could see clearly.
Caesar rolled down the car window: "Are you all packed up over there?"
Rip nodded: "Everything's all set up, shall we set off now?"
"Yes. We'll try to keep a low profile on the way and take a more secluded route to the Bison Pass."
"Oh, by the way, call Lloyd over here. I have something to tell him."
"it is good."
After explaining everything, two black pickup trucks drove off the ranch.
The pickup truck underwent simple modifications, including the installation of crash beams, wire mesh windows, and other features.
In Black Pine Valley, the pastures are widely spaced and covered by various trees, so if you are careful, you won't notice any vehicles passing by.
As they traveled along the road, zombies would occasionally dart out from the woods on both sides. Most of the zombies were dressed in fashionable clothes, and it was clear at a glance that they were not cowboys from the valley.
Occasionally, you can see some cowboys, and Jimmy is clearly a bit restless.
Yes, after all, it's a completely different story to see someone close to you turn into such a terrifying creature and a complete stranger turn into a monster.
Caesar said calmly, "The most common thing in life is impermanence."
"Accept what's happening in front of you; we still need to save your grandfather."
Upon hearing Caesar's words, Jimmy took a deep breath and forced himself to stare intently at the cowboy zombies on the roadside.
Fortunately, there were very few zombies on the road. After nearly an hour of driving, the pickup truck was finally about to reach the Bison Pass.
Inside the Buffalo Pass, there is a nearby pasture, which is about the same size as Caesar's Pasture.
Caesar slowed down, rolled down the blood-stained window, and looked at the pasture in the distance.
Jimmy instinctively looked over as well.
The ranch was quiet; there were no cattle or sheep moving about, no signs of cowboys, and not even any animal sounds.
Caesar's eyesight had improved significantly; even from a considerable distance, he could still see several wooden houses on the ranch.
The windows of the wooden house were broken, and a person could be seen lying on their back on the window frame with half of their head broken off, surrounded by splattered blood.
