The Ferocious God in the Celestial Master's Mansion
Chapter 7 A Vicious Aura
On this day, he traveled to a mountainous area in western Henan called "Black Stone Ridge". The mountains here are high and the forests are dense, the roads are rugged and the place is rarely visited by people. Zhang Yulei was walking along the mountain road when he suddenly heard the sounds of fighting and cries for help coming from ahead.
"Stop! You robbers, how dare you rob in broad daylight!" A woman's voice was filled with anger and despair.
"Hahaha, young lady, you're in the middle of nowhere, no one will come to save you even if you scream your lungs out! If you know what's good for you, hand over your valuables and your supernatural skills, and maybe we'll spare your life!" a rough, hoarse voice said arrogantly.
Zhang Yulei's heart tightened, and he quickened his pace, running towards the direction from which the sound came. Passing through a dense forest, he saw a dozen men wielding knives and clubs besieging a young couple in an open area. The couple, dressed in blue Taoist robes, appeared to be disciples of a small sect. They were now cornered, both bearing injuries and their breathing erratic.
The men who attacked them all exuded a fierce aura, clearly indicating they were supernatural beings. What angered Zhang Yulei even more was that he saw the insignia of a so-called "reputable sect" on the clothing of several of the men—a sect called "Qingyun Sect," which supposedly claimed to be dedicated to eliminating demons and protecting the righteous path, but in reality secretly colluded with Quanxing Sect to commit numerous evils.
"The people of Qingyun Sect have actually done such a despicable thing!" Zhang Yulei's eyes instantly turned cold.
He initially wanted to help, but then he reconsidered. His purpose in this training was growth, not meddling. Besides, the other side outnumbered him, and although he was confident of victory, he was also vulnerable to injury. Just as he hesitated, he suddenly saw a man raise his long sword and slash at the woman.
"Watch out!" the male disciple roared, lunging in front of the woman and using his body to block the long sword.
"Pfft!"
The long sword pierced the male disciple's chest, and blood gushed out. The male disciple's body went limp and fell to the ground, his eyes filled with resentment and despair.
"Senior brother!" the woman cried out in a heart-wrenching sob, her eyes filled with tears.
Seeing this scene, Zhang Yulei's anger was instantly ignited. He remembered his master's teachings and the vow he made when he descended the mountain—a cultivator should have a heart to help the world, and how could he sit idly by when he saw injustices in the world?
"stop!"
A loud shout, like a thunderclap, echoed through the valley. Zhang Yulei's figure blurred, and he shot out like an arrow, instantly arriving at the open space.
The men were startled by Zhang Yulei's sudden appearance, stopping what they were doing and watching him warily. The leader, a man with a gruff voice, sized Zhang Yulei up and down. Seeing that he was young and dressed in ordinary clothes, he sneered, "Where did this brat come from, daring to meddle in our business? If you know what's good for you, get lost, or we'll kill you too!"
Zhang Yulei remained silent, his cold gaze sweeping over the men before him, finally settling on the one wielding the long knife who had killed the male disciple. A surge of malevolence was quietly awakening within him; the pent-up rage he had suppressed for so long was beginning to stir after witnessing this bloody scene.
"You all deserve to die."
Zhang Yulei's voice was deep and cold, carrying a chilling killing intent. The moment he finished speaking, he moved.
The Golden Light Mantra activated instantly, enveloping him in a thick golden light shield. At the same time, the Qi within his body surged wildly, and the power of thunder magic condensed in his fists, unleashing a thunderous attack towards the leading man.
The leader's expression changed drastically; he hadn't expected this young man to be so powerful. He quickly raised his knife and circulated his internal energy, trying to block Zhang Yulei's attack.
"Bang!"
His fists collided with the longsword, producing a deafening roar. The longsword shattered instantly, and the leading man spat out a mouthful of blood. His body flew backward like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily into a large tree, where he died on the spot.
The remaining men were stunned; they hadn't expected this young man to be so powerful. But now, there was no turning back. They exchanged glances, then circulated their internal energy, brandishing their knives and clubs, and charged towards Zhang Yulei.
A hint of disdain flashed in Zhang Yulei's eyes as he moved through the crowd like a ghost. His punches and kicks were fierce and domineering, each one carrying the power of thunder. Protected by a golden light spell, he was impervious to blades and clubs. Before him, those men were like clay chickens and earthen dogs, utterly defenseless.
"Snap!" "Bang!" "Ouch!"
The sounds of bones breaking, fists and feet clashing, and screams mingled together. In just a few moments, more than a dozen men lay on the ground, some dead and some injured.
Zhang Yulei stood in a pool of blood, his black outfit splattered with droplets of blood. His breathing was slightly rapid, a crimson glint flashing in his eyes, and the murderous aura within him intensified by the killing. He could feel his reason being slowly devoured by this murderous intent, his heart filled with a destructive and bloodthirsty desire.
"Thank you... thank you for saving me, fellow Daoist." The woman wiped away her tears, walked up to Zhang Yulei, and bowed respectfully.
Zhang Yulei ignored her, his gaze still coldly sweeping over the wounded on the ground. The wounded were all groaning in pain, their eyes filled with terror.
"Spare me...spare me..." a man who was still breathing stammered.
A cold smile curled at the corners of Zhang Yulei's lips. He recalled the pain of being bullied in his past life, the mocking and discriminatory glances, and the actions of the people before him. A strong killing intent rose within him.
He raised his hand, and the power of thunder magic condensed once more.
"Fellow Daoist, show mercy!" the woman quickly interjected. "They have already been punished; there's no need to exterminate them all."
Zhang Yulei paused for a moment. The woman's voice brought him back to his senses. He looked at the pleading in the woman's eyes, then at the dying men on the ground, and his murderous intent gradually subsided.
"Get out," Zhang Yulei said coldly.
The injured, feeling as if they had been granted a pardon, struggled to their feet and fled in a sorry state.
Seeing the menacing aura emanating from Zhang Yulei, the woman felt a pang of fear, but still mustered her courage and said, "Fellow Daoist, my name is Lin Yue, and I am a disciple of the Qingxu Sect. Thank you so much for saving me just now; I will never forget your great kindness. May I ask your esteemed name? I will be able to repay you in the future."
"Longhu Mountain, Zhang Yulei," Zhang Yulei said calmly, his tone still icy.
"Zhang Yulei?" A hint of surprise flashed in Lin Yue's eyes. "So you're a esteemed disciple of the Celestial Master's Mansion. I've long admired your name."
She knew that all the disciples of the Celestial Master's Mansion on Longhu Mountain were experts, and Zhang Yulei in front of her was indeed worthy of his reputation for having such strength at such a young age.
"My senior brother..." Lin Yue looked at the dead male disciple on the ground, tears welling up in her eyes again.
Zhang Yulei didn't say anything, and turned to leave.
"Fellow Daoist, please wait!" Lin Yue hurriedly called out, "The western Henan region is not peaceful, and the people of Qingyun Sect will certainly not let this go. You may encounter danger traveling alone. Why don't we travel together so we can look after each other?"
Zhang Yulei paused. He knew Lin Yue was right. The Qingyun Sect had considerable influence in western Henan, and those people were just small fry. If they attracted the Qingyun Sect's experts, although he was confident he could handle them, he would inevitably get into trouble. Moreover, the murderous aura within him had just been unleashed and needed time to subside. Traveling with companions might help him stay calm.
"Alright." Zhang Yulei nodded.
Lin Yue was overjoyed and quickly suppressed her grief. She tidied up her senior brother's body and, together with Zhang Yulei, headed towards Longhu Mountain.
Along the way, Lin Yue tried to talk to Zhang Yulei to ease the tension. She told Zhang Yulei that Qingxu Sect was a small sect with few disciples. She and her senior brother had come down the mountain to find a rare medicinal herb to treat the elders in the sect, but they unexpectedly encountered people from Qingyun Sect.
Zhang Yulei would occasionally respond with a few words, but mostly remained silent. He was constantly practicing the breathing techniques of his inner alchemy to calm the violent energy within his body. He could feel that after the recent killing, that violent energy had become even more turbulent than before, and controlling it was becoming increasingly difficult.
Unbeknownst to him, this was merely the beginning. The Qingyun Sect's retaliation, the Quanxing Sect's conspiracy, and those hypocritical figures lurking in the shadows all awaited him. A far greater storm was quietly brewing. And the pent-up rage within him would erupt completely in this storm.
As the two reached the edge of Black Stone Ridge, they suddenly heard a series of rapid footsteps ahead. Zhang Yulei was alarmed and quickly pulled Lin Yue into the dense forest nearby.
On the distant mountain path, a group of strange people dressed in Qingyun Sect attire were seen approaching. There were about fifty or sixty of them, and the leader was a middle-aged man with a gloomy face and a powerful aura, clearly a master.
"It's up ahead! Someone just reported that one of our men was killed in this area!" The middle-aged man's voice was cold and furious. "Whoever dared to kill someone from my Qingyun Sect, we will tear them to pieces!"
Zhang Yulei's eyes sharpened instantly. He knew a fierce battle was inevitable. And this time, the murderous intent within him would likely be unleashed.
