Senior sister, stop working and go home for dinner.

Chapter 4 The First Day of Entering the World

Whether it was the old phone or Feng Xiaolu's loud voice, Chen Anran could hear everything clearly.

After hanging up the phone, Su Wan pinched her brow and looked at Chen Anran with a helpless expression: "You heard it too, your third senior sister... is always so impulsive."

Chen Anran laughed.

"I think Third Senior Sister's idea is good."

Upon hearing this, Su Wan tried to stop her: "An Ran, cultivation requires..."

"Senior Sister, please let me go. I've been unable to master Qi cultivation for so long, perhaps it's because my mental state is the problem? Maybe if I go down the mountain for a while, I might achieve a breakthrough." Chen Anran interrupted in a relaxed tone, but she had her own plans in mind.

The museum's capabilities are just beginning to be explored, and it needs a wider variety of items to experiment with.

Lin City, where his third senior sister lived, was a bustling metropolis with far more opportunities than this remote mountain forest. Moreover, he genuinely wanted to see the world down below the mountain with his own eyes and see if he could help his third senior sister in any way, even if it was just to put on a show for her and deceive people.

"Senior sister, please let me go." Chen Anran said seriously, "Third senior sister is busy running around outside all by herself. Although she is clever, having someone of her own by her side can always help each other. Besides, I am twenty years old now. I can't stay on the mountain forever. It's time for me to enter the world and gain some experience."

Looking into Chen Anran's clear and determined eyes, Su Wan felt a little more at ease.

Perhaps letting our junior brother go out and see the world isn't a bad thing. Besides, with our clever and mischievous third junior sister looking after him, he shouldn't run into any major trouble.

She sighed softly, "Fine, go if you want. But remember, be careful in everything you do. The world is full of complicated people, so don't easily reveal anything about your sect, and never get into fights or brawls. If you encounter any trouble, contact your third senior sister immediately, or call home and let her know."

"Don't worry, Senior Sister, I know what's important." Chen Anran nodded in agreement.

"Go quickly and come back quickly." Su Wan said, taking out a slightly worn but faded cloth wallet from her sleeve and stuffing it into Chen Anran's hand. "Take this money for your journey. It's better to have money on the road than to be poor at home."

Chen Anran looked at the thin wallet and knew that it was money saved up by the sect through frugality. She felt a little sad, but she did not refuse. She simply accepted it solemnly and said, "Thank you, Senior Sister."

Without further ado, Chen Anran quickly packed a small bundle containing a few changes of clothes. He didn't take anything else, such as the "spiritual rice" in the kitchen, which he could make anytime he wanted through the museum.

Before leaving, he went to check on the fields again, said goodbye to the eager little bell, and promised to bring her back candies and snacks from the city.

Chen Anran was familiar with the road down the mountain, but he usually only went there to buy necessities and made quick trips. This was the first time he had traveled such a long distance. Following the address sent by his third senior sister, he first took a local's tractor to town, and then transferred to a dilapidated long-distance bus, swaying and bumping his way to Lincheng.

The scenery outside the car window gradually changed from rolling green hills to flat fields, and then to dense buildings, wide roads, and a constant stream of vehicles. The hustle and bustle of the modern city was completely different from the tranquility of the mountains. Chen Anran leaned against the window, quietly watching this familiar yet unfamiliar world, feeling a mix of emotions.

Several hours later, the bus arrived at Lincheng Bus Station. As soon as Chen Anran stepped out of the station, she heard a familiar voice:

"Junior brother! Over here! Over here!"

Looking in the direction of the sound, he saw a young woman wearing a slightly oversized but clean yellow Taoist robe waving vigorously at him.

She was about twenty-three or twenty-four years old, with bright eyes and fair skin. Her hair was loosely tied into a Taoist bun at the back of her head, with an ordinary wooden hairpin inserted. Who else could she be but his third senior sister, Feng Xiaolu?

Chen Anran walked over quickly and called out with a smile, "Third Senior Sister."

Feng Xiaolu grabbed his arm, looked him up and down, and clicked her tongue, saying, "Oh my, after not seeing you for months, our junior brother has become even more handsome! That aura, that physique! Perfect! This time it's all set!"

Chen Anran was amused by her: "Senior sister, it's you who's become more and more fashionable in the few months we haven't seen each other."

"When in Rome, do as the Romans do! Let's go, we'll talk on the way!" Feng Xiaolu hailed a taxi in a flurry, shoved Chen Anran inside, and gave him an address.

In the car, Feng Xiaolu lowered her voice and quickly explained the situation: "The client's surname is Wang, and he is the regional vice president of Tianhe Group. He has an old residential area that is about to be demolished. There is a building in it that has been having strange occurrences lately. There are strange noises and shadowy figures at night, and the workers are afraid to go in, which is delaying the construction schedule. He has asked two groups of people to take a look, but they couldn't solve the problem. Instead, they made it sound even more bizarre. I've inquired about it, and the building is old, the pipes are old, and there are a lot of rats. I guess it's just a combination of natural phenomena and psychological effects."

After listening, Chen Anran asked, "Shall we go there now?"

Feng Xiaolu waved her hand, pulled a smartphone from the wide sleeve of her Taoist robe, and expertly swiped it: "No rush, Mr. Wang has an appointment for tomorrow morning. Tonight, your senior sister will treat you to a welcome dinner and also get you a new outfit!"

"Outfit?" Chen Anran looked at his own faded ordinary clothes and then at Feng Xiaolu's Taoist robe.

"That's right!" Feng Xiaolu's eyes sparkled. "You're the 'senior brother' I invited, you need to have the air of a master! Your outfit is too plain, no way. We need to buy something decent... um, a modified Taoist robe? Or a Chinese Zen robe? In short, it needs to look ethereal and otherworldly, but not too outdated, and preferably with a touch of mystery!"

Chen Anran chuckled, looking at her third senior sister's enthusiastic appearance, as if she wasn't going to deal with a "paranormal event" but to attend some kind of masquerade ball.

The taxi stopped in front of a reasonably priced chain hotel. Feng Xiaolu had clearly come prepared, having already booked a standard room.

After putting down their luggage, Feng Xiaolu pulled Chen Anran straight to a nearby commercial street. She was clearly familiar with the area, and after a few turns, they entered a shop with a sign that read "Yun Jin Ge". The shop displayed many Chinese-style clothes, both traditional and modern.

Feng Xiaolu flitted among the clothes racks like a butterfly, occasionally picking up a garment and holding it up against Chen Anran: "How about this one? The color is too dark... And this one? The pattern is too tacky... Hey, boss, bring down that moon-white one, yes, the one with the subtle pattern!"

Finally, under Feng Xiaolu's "professional" eye, Chen Anran tried on a well-tailored, moon-white Chinese-style stand-up collar top, paired with loose-fitting trousers in the same color scheme. The fabric was comfortable, the style simple, but the details were exquisite. Wearing it, it perfectly complemented Chen Anran's clear and refined temperament cultivated in the mountains, making her less worldly and more otherworldly.

"Perfect!" Feng Xiaolu circled him twice, clapping her hands in satisfaction. "This outfit is perfect! And with that... uh, did you bring your peach wood sword?"

Chen Anran shook her head: "I brought it."

However, it's not on my body; it's still evolving in the museum, and only a little over a day has passed.
