Cat Princess and Human Knight
Chapter 7 The Cat's Sense of Revenge
After Illya and Onyxia's outburst following the Oath of Ice and Fire, the night grew deeper and the chill intensified.
The campfire at the cave entrance was relit, and the man and two cats huddled together in the sheltered spot at the cave entrance. After escaping death, everyone was filled with lingering sorrow and remained mostly silent.
Yi Yin touched his bald head, a little worried about whether his hair would grow back, but the silk robe that Ilya conjured with magic was indeed strange.
The smooth and breathable silk can actually block out the cold air from the outside, so Yi Yin doesn't feel cold. What kind of material is this?
While Yi Yin was secretly marveling at how awesome magic was, the orange cat paladin Bell, sitting opposite him by the campfire, looked worried, patted his big belly, and sighed.
"Oh dear, how did you get so thin? It will take at least three months of eating to regain the weight. What a waste!"
Sophia, the short-legged cat protected between the human and the cat, stared blankly at the campfire, her mind filled with the feeling of being petted by Ilya just now, and her body trembled.
Those long, beautiful, slender, and delicate woman's hands could ignite frost and fire at any moment, instantly turning Sophia to ashes.
The fear of having her fate controlled by others caused Sofia to instinctively crouch like a hen, revealing her ugly, utterly unrefined nature, her claws trembling to this day.
Bell asked with concern.
"Your Highness, are you alright?"
Sofia's fear was ignited by this greeting, and she instantly bristled.
"How many times have I told you! Call me Lady! Lady! I'm no longer a princess! No!"
"I'm not well! I'm very bad! Let's go! Let's go now! Back to my territory! I don't want to stay here any longer! She could be back at any moment!"
Bell was perplexed.
"Set off now? It's the darkest time of night, the moonlight can't even illuminate the road ahead."
"Should we wait a little longer? It would be safer to set off after dawn."
Bell understood Sophia's fear; after all, it was Ilya. Onyxia—who wouldn't be afraid of her?
The Regent is really not a cat; he actually hired humans to hunt down the princess. That's such a violation of the rules!
As he pondered this, Bell couldn't help but glance at Yi Yin beside him. How could the difference between people be so vast? The humans on his side were simply too useless.
Yi Yin curled his lip.
"I sense that you're having some very rude thoughts going through your head."
"No, I am a benevolent paladin, how could I possibly think of you, a mere human, as a piece of trash?"
"You fucking said it all!"
"Forehead.."
Yi Yin and the orange cat were staring at each other when Sophia suddenly stood up and screamed, venting the fear she had been holding in for half a day at Bell.
"You swore you'd protect me! I need you to leave now! Get out of this horrible place immediately! Right now!"
Bell stood there stunned, but Yi Yin, unable to bear the sight, stepped forward and said a few words of justice.
"Hey, you're going too far."
Although this orange cat is fat, silly, and can't talk, it just stood in front of you, desperately protecting you, and almost lost its own life in the process.
"Can't you be a little more polite to your savior? Just because you're a princess doesn't mean you're so great!"
Sophia looked at Yi Yin, who was speaking recklessly, and was so angry that she trembled, but could not say a word.
In the feudal society built by the cats, hierarchy is deeply ingrained, and bloodline is supreme. Sophia, as a royal princess, had never been so rudely insulted by a cat.
But Yi Yin is a human, and a human from another world at that. How could he possibly understand the rules of feudal society?
Speechless, Sofia's eyes instantly reddened, and tears streamed down her face.
Bell jumped up as if his butt had been electrocuted, and said with a dry laugh.
"This campfire doesn't seem to be working well. I'll go gather some more dry branches to heat it up."
After saying that, he turned and left, muttering to himself as he went.
"The mother cat's tears are such a headache, I can't see them, I can't see them."
Yi Yin chuckled as he watched the orange cat's retreating figure. "Could you please keep your muttering a little quieter?"
Watching the orange cat's figure disappear, and then looking back at the short-legged cat silently and stubbornly wiping away its tears, Yi Yin couldn't help but scratch his head and sigh.
What a mess! Other transmigrators go to other worlds to pick up girls and become kings, while I go to another world to comfort cats.
Yi-eun's parents died, and he lived off the house and insurance money left by them. He didn't like to interact with outsiders and stayed at home playing video games after graduating from school.
He has no idea how to comfort people; his forte is actually arguing with irritable guys online.
Seeing that Sophia was upset, he moved his buttocks a little closer, feeling embarrassed. He reached out to touch Sophia's back fur to comfort her, but Sophia looked up at him and breathed on him.
The dwarf cat's yellowish-green eyes were still wet with tears, and its pupils were now vertical, filled with resentment.
Yi Yin could only awkwardly retract his hand, which was already in mid-air, and said in a low voice.
"I was just saying it offhand, don't cry."
Put yourself in his shoes. Think about how protective that orange cat is of you, even squeezing all the fat off its belly. How could you possibly scold or criticize it?
Doesn't your conscience hurt?
Sophia looked at Yi Yin with increasingly desolate eyes and said softly.
"I have no conscience; I've lost it."
Yi Yin choked and grunted.
"You're really good with words, that's too much."
Sophia stared at Yi Yin and spoke slowly.
"You are the one I summoned to this world; you should have heard my vow."
Sophia looked sadly at her tail; the nine beautiful hair rings on it, the tail rings that represented her noble bloodline of nine lives, had disappeared.
"In order to activate the forbidden magic circle, I sacrificed my dignity, my conscience, my joy, and the three most precious things in my life, only to summon a useless person."
Yi Yin stared wide-eyed at Sophia.
"Why are you cursing me? So it was you who suddenly traveled through time to this place?"
Yes, yes, I remember those sounds, they were your voices, it really was you who did it!
"Damn it! Why didn't you say so sooner?"
Sofia looked into the darkness ahead, making sure Bell hadn't returned yet, and said calmly.
"The legend of the King of Ice and Fire is a true historical fact."
Long, long ago, my ancestor, Emperor Mankikang, used this forbidden magic circle to summon a human king from another world, creating the unprecedented Cat Paw Empire.
But after his death, no other dwarf cat ever successfully summoned the King of Men.
I never expected to succeed. I was cornered by the Shadow Guard's Black Cat Assassin and had no other choice but to try my luck.
I was initially very happy; I had succeeded.
For thousands of years, countless royal elites, descendants of King Manquik, have tried and tried, exhausting all their wisdom, but none have succeeded.
On this day of the fall of the Mankikan royal family, I have miraculously succeeded. I believe this is the will of the Emperor, a miracle that helps me restore my kingdom and avenge my family.
But I never expected... You're really useless, completely different from those legendary, all-powerful human kings who created the world.
Forget about making the two gods fear you, you can't even defeat the native humans of this world. All you do is use clever words and act ugly and funny.
"How are you any different from those degenerate cats who expose their bellies and beg for human favor?"
Yi Yin jumped to his feet. Sophia's words were too hurtful, and his dignity as a man couldn't take it for a second.
But thinking about the stunningly beautiful face and formidable power of the Oath of Ice and Fire, I felt incredibly useless and disappointed in comparison.
Yi Yin slumped back to his original spot, glancing at the 7828 points of excitement hanging in the corner of his eye, and said dejectedly.
"Sigh, never mind. I know you're in a bad mood and your words are harsh, so I don't want to argue."
But, maybe I'm not as bad as you say, it's just that I'm not sure what my abilities are yet.
"Look, that woman is so powerful, yet she couldn't hurt me at all!"
Sofia said quietly.
"You've lost all your hair."
Yi Yin blushed and shook his hand.
"You don't know anything! Baldy is really strong, okay! Oh, that's not the point. The point is we need to look forward!"
"What's past is past. Since you asked me to help, of course I'll help you!"
Yi Yin didn't have much attachment to his original world. His parents were gone, and after graduation, he spent his days idly playing games, living like a walking corpse, with a future he could see all along.
Arriving in this world of swords and magic dominated by cats, he felt excited, as if life had come back to him.
Although he no longer had a computer, mobile phone, games, or short videos... it was a real shame, but he remained enthusiastic and showed no longing for that seemingly exciting but actually boring life.
If this world is truly as he imagines, with the cat race being a role of the human race in a fantasy world, and the human race being a role of the dragon race in a fantasy world, then the otherworldly human king is a dragon king who came from another world.
I guess I'm pretty awesome too!
Yi Yin chuckled inwardly, but dared not dream too much. A local woman had almost beaten him to death; humans were truly powerful.
Fortunately, there's an external protection system, but the problem is that this annoying, smelly system remains silent, and the passive human defense aura only works against humans.
Having witnessed Bell's divine defenses against the attacks, Yi Yin felt that he might not be able to defeat the cats here, and could only rely on his human identity to scare the cats who didn't know his limits.
But as an ordinary person without power, he needs to eat, drink, wear clothes, and have a place to live.
Since Sophia admitted that she was the one who summoned him, Yi Yin shamelessly insisted that the short-legged cat take full responsibility.
Whether or not I can help Sophia is another matter, but I have to hold onto this meal ticket first, otherwise I really won't be able to eat cat food and will starve to death.
Sophia was clearly unaware of Yi Yin's ulterior motives. Her beautiful yellow-green eyes narrowed for a moment before she slowly nodded.
"You were successfully summoned, which made me understand my mission."
I have surpassed all my ancestors and am closer to Emperor Mankikon than any other Munchkin. It is my duty to restore the royal family and to avenge those cats who betrayed the royal family.
Are you willing to walk with me and help me restore my kingdom and avenge my family?
Yi Yin nodded quickly. As long as he could get a meal and successfully infiltrate this world, he was naturally willing to help Sophia.
"Of course, I'll definitely help you. We're on the same side."
However, didn't you keep emphasizing that you were no longer a royal princess and that Belle should call you Lady? I thought you...
Sofia said coldly.
"That was just a temporary measure of forbearance."
Even if I am unwilling to give up my royal status and fail to kill my regent, he will still strip me of my Mankikang surname and royal status through the Seven-Tailed Council.
Icefire Oath is a proud human; she disdains to lie for the Regent, so the inside story she tells must be true.
This bloody coup in the Imperial City was not just the Regent's personal act, but a result tacitly approved by the Seven-Tailed Council.
"The Regent, the seven royal families... and even you... Regal... were you also involved in the coup that wiped out the royal family?"
Sofia's expression was utterly cold. Having lost her conscience and joy, she had essentially become the most ruthless political animal, talking only of pros and cons, not feelings.
Yi Yin looked at her and shook his head.
The kitten, less than forty centimeters tall, was seriously discussing politics while pinching its chin. Although it sounded reasonable and made sense, it always gave Yi-yin a sense of absurd dislocation.
Just then, Bell returned, feeding the campfire with the dry branches he was carrying, one by one, and said with a smile.
"Thanks to the oath of ice and fire, the trees in this area have been dried by her frost and fire, and there is plenty of good firewood everywhere."
"I'm worried about a fire. When I pass through this village again, I'll have to say hello to the church here as a precaution."
Looking at the compassionate orange cat, whose kind and pure expression seemed genuine, Yi Yin also developed a strong liking for him.
What a silly but good cat.
Sofia shifted her gaze, straightened her posture, and bowed to Bell.
"I'm sorry, I lost my composure just now."
Bell quickly waved his hand.
"It's alright, it's alright. I know you're upset about escaping death, but I won't worry about it. It's just about getting on the road..."
Sofia said.
"Let's wait until after dawn. I need to get back to Viscount Huru's territory as soon as possible. Please help me."
Bell thumped his chest loudly as he spoke.
"No problem, I'll take care of it."
