Chapter 57 Body Parts in the Freezer and the Missing Internal Organs
"This belongs to a family surnamed Zhou. The information shows that they have settled in the north. The older sister married out of the area, and the house has been vacant since the passing of the elderly couple six years ago!" Xiao Jiale explained, flipping through the documents.
Zhou Yang nodded and walked to the meter box, where he indeed found that the bus had been cut off.
Originally, I shared a meter with two other tenants. No one was home in one of the two households, and the other tenant only came home occasionally during holidays and didn't usually connect to the electricity.
The three arrived at the gate and found that the lock was rusted and there were no signs of human activity around it.
"Could there be another entrance or exit?" Xiao Jiale, wearing gloves, looked at the bottom of the lock.
I walked around the yard and found no back door.
"Could it be that they climbed over?" Wang Chao gestured to the height of the courtyard wall, then nodded knowingly, as if trying to convince himself.
Zhou Yang and Xiao Jiale only glanced at him and ignored him. If this really was a crime scene, then Zhao Jun and the other three were all weighing over 100 pounds each. He couldn't possibly throw them in first and then climb in.
Zhou Yang took a few steps back and looked up at the surrounding rooftops.
"Which family comes back several times during holidays?"
"Oh!" Xiao Jiale took out the documents again, then gestured with his fingers, turned around, and pointed to the house on his right: "This one!"
......
"Good heavens, both locks are almost identical!" Wang Chao exclaimed, looking at the locks hanging in front of the house.
In 95, resources were still relatively scarce, so this situation was normal.
"However, compared to that one, it shows more signs of use!" Xiao Jiale looked towards the lock cylinder.
Zhou Yang walked around the courtyard but couldn't find any small gate or entrance.
At this moment, Zhou Yang had an impulse to bring the technical team over and examine the marks on the lock, but he eventually gave up, thinking it was too early and that there was a high probability that the lock would not leave any marks.
However, to ensure the integrity of the roof, Wang Chao borrowed a ladder from a nearby resident, propped it against the wall, and climbed onto the roof.
"There are traces!" Wang Chao exclaimed, poking his head out and pointing to the connection between the two houses, a look of joy on his face.
The two quickly changed into their gear and climbed up. Sure enough, they saw several footprints. They crossed over and went to the next side.
"Don't destroy it, get down the house!" Zhou Yang's heart skipped a beat. The three of them slowly moved along the area without footprints to the main room of the bungalow.
There were several traces of dried water stains at the front edge.
Zhou Yang pushed hard against the door and peered through the crack, seeing a freezer in the center with an indicator light on in the lower right corner.
"Notify the technical team! And the emergency medical center!"
......
Wang Zhenhai pulled down one side of his mask and looked at Zhou Yang with a complicated expression: "Little Zhou, you always manage to find work for our technical team, but I hope there's as much work as possible!"
Finally, he laughed first, "Well done!"
He beckoned Zhou Yang to the side, lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and exhaled, "I've known Lao Liu for sixteen years!"
Zhou Yang didn't know what the other person wanted to say, so he just stood there listening without answering, trusting that the other person would tell him.
"Sixteen years have passed in the blink of an eye!" He stared at the flickering cigarette butt in his hand, then came to his senses. "These past few days have been the only two times in all these years that I've felt the most pressure. The last time was when I went on my first mission to help find Aunt Liu's lost goose!"
"On behalf of Lao Liu, on behalf of the two survivors, and on behalf of the two victims, thank you! Young man, thank you!" Wang Zhenhai patted Zhou Yang's shoulder hard.
Zhou Yang smiled and said, "Teacher Wang, although it's inappropriate for me to say this, I still have to. Please don't thank me all at once; there will be many more times to come!"
Wang Zhenhai was taken aback, then raised his foot to kick Zhou Yang away. The kid's meaning was clear: he would solve many more cases in the future, meaning there would be more victims...
Although it's considered taboo to talk about this in this kind of setting, as it's considered unlucky, both of them, and everyone present, knew that it was unavoidable and beyond anyone's control.
Fortunately, it happened in the courtyard, and fortunately, social media wasn't as developed as it is in later generations; otherwise, this seemingly insignificant scuffle between the forensic doctor and the investigator would probably have made headlines.
They won't understand what emotional regulation is, nor will they care whether you're at the scene or next to a corpse.
As soon as I got to the front of the house, I saw Xiao Jiale coming out with his mouth covered.
"Don't vomit here, find a bag and take care of it yourself!" Wang Zhenhai warned Xiao Jiale quickly when he saw him like this.
Xiao Jiale's eyes widened as he stared at Old Wang, who was leisurely smoking. "Why didn't you mention the pile of cigarette ash you left on the ground?" Helpless, he could only pick up a bag and squat down to the side, dry heaving.
The room was filled with an unpleasant, pungent smell that was somewhat like alcohol. The room was divided into three areas.
In the center was a large freezer, which was open. Inside were some blood and one and a half torsos. The reason it was described as one and a half torsos was because the internal organs of one of the torsos had been removed.
At the broken ends of the torso, there were ice shards stained with blood.
On the left side of the ground, a waterproof cloth was laid out. It had been cleaned up, but you could still imagine what had happened from the crisscrossing marks. On the surrounding walls, there were dried brown spray-like bloodstains that had not been cleaned up in time.
In one corner of the tarpaulin, there were various tools such as boning knives, hacksaws, axes, and steel picks.
On the right, there were only two steel chains, each as thick as a child's arm, nailed to the ground, and in the corner, there was a foul smell.
"That should be where the bodies were dismembered!" Wang Chao appeared beside Zhou Yang at some point and pointed to the location of the tarpaulin. "The technical team and the emergency center just handed over two victims here. They were already in a state of confusion, but Teacher Wang said they can be saved!"
"Have you found biological samples from anyone other than the four victims?" Zhou Yang asked, looking at the technicians passing by.
The other person was tidying something up when Zhou Yang interrupted them, and they looked annoyed: "There are a lot of them, they're everywhere!"
Even though he knew this was the inevitable outcome, Zhou Yang still felt a surge of excitement: "This time, he can't escape!"
"Yeah, there's no escaping it!" Wang Chao chimed in, then, citing the need not to disturb the staff, pulled Zhou Yang out of the house.
He didn't react as strongly as Xiao Jiale, but even after sitting there for a while, he felt a chill down his spine.
"There's no use staying here. Go to the hospital and check on those two!" Wang Zhenhai said, stubbing out his cigarette with his fingers, then putting on gloves and a mask before re-entering the scene.
"Let's go!" Wang Chao patted Xiao Jiale, who was still vomiting, with a hint of displeasure on his face.
"No, Brother Chao, everyone takes time to recover. Don't look at me like that!" Xiao Jiale had already vomited bile and felt terrible. When Wang Chao looked at him like that, he felt a little wronged.
Wang Chao shook his head: "I'm not saying Zhou Yang is better than you. I'm saying, it's less than five meters away, right outside the gate, why did you have to bring a bag and vomit in the yard?"
Xiao Jiale was taken aback: "When did this door open?"
"If we don't open the door, the technical team and the emergency center's personnel and equipment can't all climb over the wall, can they?" Wang Chao looked at him like he was an idiot.
