Reborn in 1999: Starting as a black marketeer

Chapter 53 is a bit of a disappointment.

Wang Feiyang opened his eyes groggily, not knowing when.

The room lights were still on, a bit glaring, and the curtains were tightly closed. I didn't know if it was daylight outside yet, but I could hear people walking and talking in the hallway.

Of course, most importantly, he was holding a sweet and soft girl in his arms...

Or rather, it wasn't that Wang Feiyang was holding her, but rather that she was clinging to him like an octopus, making it hard for him to breathe.

Looking down at Liu Yingying, who was still asleep, I noticed a sweet smile on her face. I wondered what happy things she was dreaming about.

Fortunately, both of them were still wearing clothes, albeit somewhat disheveled...

After staring blankly at the ceiling for a while, Wang Feiyang reached for his phone next to his pillow and checked the time. It was already nine o'clock in the morning.

He gently freed himself from Liu Yingying's arms around his neck, sat up, and realized he had drunk a bit too much last night and his head was still a little sore.

Looking down at that beautiful face, Wang Feiyang felt a little impulsive and bent down to give it a light kiss. However, he immediately realized that this was not a good idea, so he quietly got out of bed.

Reaching the door, and waiting until there was no more footsteps or voices in the corridor, I quickly opened the door, slipped out, and went to my room next door.

Zhang Liang and his friends probably played cards all night. They were currently fast asleep on their beds, fully clothed. The room was a bit messy, but that's normal for a boys' dormitory to be a little messy.

I took a hot shower in the bathroom first, which immediately made me feel much more refreshed. Then I grabbed some bread and milk and made do with that for breakfast.

Liu Yingying was woken up by the sound of people talking in the corridor. She reached for her phone with her eyes still closed and saw that it was already past ten o'clock.

Remembering that she had arranged to go to the Bank of China with Wang Feiyang to withdraw money today, she quickly sat up. Perhaps she stood up too abruptly and felt dizzy. As if remembering something, she quickly looked down at herself and found that her clothes were on properly and she did not feel anything unusual. She breathed a sigh of relief.

He frowned and tried to think hard, trying to figure out when Wang Feiyang left last night, or whether he left at all.

Unfortunately, I drank too much last night and was so confused that I can't remember if anything happened.

However, it seemed that nothing had happened, which relieved her, but also left her with a slight sense of regret...

…………

When Wang Feiyang and Liu Yingying went downstairs to go to the bank, he noticed that Liu Yingying kept glancing at him. He asked with a smile, "What's wrong? Why are you spying on me? Just say what's on your mind."

"Pah, who spied on you, you narcissist! I just wanted to ask... um, where did you sleep last night... last night..." Liu Yingying asked hesitantly.

"It's in your room. I woke up this morning and you were still sleeping, so I didn't wake you," Wang Feiyang said frankly, seemingly not finding anything wrong with it.

"Ah~ you really slept in my room?" Liu Yingying's eyes widened in shock.

After all, she was just an eighteen-year-old girl who had never been in a relationship before. Even though she liked Wang Feiyang, they had only known each other for a few days. To be sleeping in the same bed all of a sudden was a bit too fast...

Before he could say anything more, Wang Feiyang was already standing by the roadside, extending his arm and giving a thumbs up, when he flagged down a beat-up Lada.

In Moscow, you can hardly see any licensed taxis on the streets. If you want to hail a taxi, you just stand on the side of the road and raise your thumb. That way, unlicensed taxis or private cars on the road will know you want a ride, and a car will stop and ask you where you're going. If the price is right, they'll give you a ride...

However, most of the unlicensed taxi drivers here are Russians, that is, people from the Caucasus region with black hair, or people from various Stan countries. Their cars are basically those old Ladas that rattle and leak from all sides when they run.

There are relatively few Russians who run unlicensed taxis; most use private cars and sometimes they'll give you a ride to earn some extra money for gas.

In his previous life, Wang Feiyang even managed to hail a Mercedes-Benz G-Class at the airport. The driver, seeing that he was a student from Moda University, gave him a ride.

A black man opened the car window, leaned out, and asked, "Куда?" meaning he was asking Wang Feiyang where he was going.

"72 Heping Street, how much?" Wang Feiyang spoke Russian very naturally and fluently.

The Russian man sized up the two of them. He figured that Wang Feiyang's Russian was so fluent that even if he was a foreigner, he must be a seasoned Russian. So he didn't ask for an exorbitant price and said, "250 rubles."

The price was reasonable, so Wang Feiyang didn't haggle. He nodded, reached out and opened the back door, gesturing for Liu Yingying to get in.

Although Liu Yingying's Russian wasn't very good, she had studied it for half a year, and she understood when the driver said "250 rubles".

After getting in the car, seeing the driver intently focused on driving, he whispered to Wang Feiyang, "How come your taxi ride is so cheap? Only a little over two hundred. Every time I take a taxi to the bank, the driver asks me for four or five hundred!"

Wang Feiyang laughed upon hearing this. "Haha, someone like you, clearly a foreign student, speaking broken Russian, is bound to be ripped off. Remember, unless you're going to a really far place like a big market, places you guys frequent like Red Square, Videnham, or the Bank of China, anything over 300 rubles is a rip-off!"

Actually, it's not cheap at all. 250 rubles is ten US dollars, which is more than 80 yuan!

But there's nothing we can do. Although Russia is poor these days, prices in Moscow are very high. Not to mention high-end restaurants, even a meal in a small school cafeteria can cost one or two hundred rubles.

Renting a place and eating out are even more expensive; a one-bedroom apartment in an old-style residential building costs five or six hundred US dollars a month.

The Polada sped along, moving incredibly fast, and arrived at its destination in just over forty minutes.

The Bank of China branch in Moscow is not large; it only occupies one floor of an office building. Because of the poor security situation in Moscow in recent years, it is as heavily guarded as other Russian banks.

At the entrance, there was an armed security guard carrying a submachine gun. He checked Wang Feiyang and Liu Yingying's passports and conducted security checks before letting them in.

Once inside, Liu Yingying skillfully took out the withdrawal slip, filled it out, and then went to the counter to complete the withdrawal procedure.

The cash withdrawal process here doesn't involve handing the money directly to the counter. The counter only handles the withdrawal procedure. When you want to withdraw cash, you're directed to a safe room next door. There's an armed security guard standing at the door, and only one person can go in at a time. Once inside, the door is locked, and you can only come out after you've withdrawn the money...

Fortunately, there weren't many people doing business here. It only took about twenty minutes for Liu Yingying to withdraw the money smoothly. She handed the stack of Franklin, still tied with bank paper ribbons, to Wang Feiyang, saying, "Here, there's exactly five thousand."
