Mystery: But the Witch's Path

Chapter 25 Differences Between People

Backlund, Queens, at Manor No. 59, Altair was still sound asleep in his warm bed, unaware that his actions in the East District had already attracted the attention of the official Extraordinary.

Everything happening outside seemed to have nothing to do with this manor. As usual, Altair slept in late in the morning. After getting up, he went to the dining room, where the servants laid out the breakfast that had already been prepared.

Altair's fondness for sleeping in late was common knowledge among the estate's servants. Even if the police came looking for him based on clues, no one would suspect that Altair had any connection to the murderer.

Meanwhile, Altair was enjoying a hearty breakfast, his favorite Dixie pie.

While it's undeniable that Klein, this "God of Poverty," is indeed "poor," his taste is quite good. The pie crust was baked to the perfect softness, and the filling today was a perfect combination of marinated beef and vegetables. The only downside was the lack of chopsticks; it would have been even better with some pickled radish...

After Altair finished the last sip of cream soup, he simply shook the small bell on the seat to signal to the servants that breakfast time was over and they could come and clean.

Just as he stood up, he saw Hahn personally leading his men in. He asked curiously, "Hahn, don't you have anything to do today? You should be out by now."

When Hahn heard this, he didn't react much emotionally. He calmly replied as usual, "There's no work to do today. The factory has already notified us, and there are people specifically in charge."

Upon hearing this, Altair didn't say anything, simply nodding slightly to show his understanding before turning and leaving.

Hahn followed Altair, knowing that there was something he needed to discuss, and went directly to the study on the second floor.

After Hahn closed the study door, he went straight to the point: "Count Altair, is the dress you wore yesterday still at home?"

"This morning, the Eastern District Police Department conducted a special investigation into the murder case that occurred last night, but the results have not yet been released."

"And you said that among the people last night were extraordinary individuals. I was afraid the church would find out, so I was thinking of disposing of all the clues first."

Perhaps it was because yesterday's successful "assassination" of an Extraordinary made Altair forget about the fact that unofficial Extraordinary individuals would be investigated, especially since he had openly killed one on the street.

After calming down, Altair said directly, "The clothes from last night are still in the bathroom; no one else knows about them."

After finding out the location of the clothes, Hahn left immediately to deal with this "dangerous item".

He took his clothes from Altair's room, left the manor, and didn't return until noon.

As for what Hahn did with the clothes, Altair had no idea.

........

Altair has now completed most of the courses on aristocratic etiquette, which gives him free time during the day.

I've been spending most of these past two days in the library, learning about everything from mechanical design to biotechnology—what I can learn and what to study.

As for firearms manufacturing, Altair has prepared two types of firearms: the Kar98k and the MG42. Both use the same type of ammunition, so there is no need to design a separate ammunition production chain during manufacturing.

Both firearms were already excellent products and did not require any modification; they could be used right out of the box.

As for the "new type of gunpowder," I'm prepared to choose one that I can use; I'm afraid that if it gets used on me later, I'll be in big trouble.

As for the other company, they're planning to snatch the bicycles upfront.

........

blah blah blah

"Enter"

After hearing the door close, Altair looked up and found that it wasn't Hahn who came in, but the new housekeeper, Freya Quinn. She didn't explain her purpose as soon as she came in. Was she making me ask her questions?

Since you won't speak, I won't ask. Altair looked down at the book in his hands again. To be honest, he never imagined he would be learning these things after transmigrating. Before, he only imagined gaining abilities and living a carefree life after transmigrating...

After realizing the cup was empty, she was about to refill it when she saw Freya Quinn still standing at the desk. Puzzled, she asked, "Is there something you need?"

Freya Quinn seemed not to hear those words, as if she was deep in thought.

Altair didn't wait for Freya Quinn's reply. He shook the teapot in his hand, found that there was no more black tea in it, and got up to leave.

After the door closed, Freya Quinn realized what was happening and looked around to find that Altair had already left.

.......

Since arriving in this world, Altair has never gone out normally during the day, as he spent his days studying at home.

Now that I have some free time, I'm finding it incredibly boring, so I'm going to go out and explore to experience life in another world.

Go downstairs to find Hahn to arrange a carriage, explaining that you want to go out for a drive.

Altair returned to her room, changed her underwear, and then rang a bell to have Vera and Irene help her change into clothes suitable for going out. As she took one piece of clothing after another, she complained to herself more than once that the clothes in this era were really troublesome to wear.

After an hour of preparation, Altair finally finished changing. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a white long dress with mutton sleeves, ruffles, and lace trim on the chest, a veil hat adorned with blue ribbons and silk flowers, and light-colored gauze gloves.

After preparations were complete, he led the two maids to leave the manor. Once on the carriage, he thought for a moment and said to Hahn, "Freya Quinn, there might be something over there that you can't handle. Go and ask her."

Having finished his business, Altair immediately ordered the driver to drive away. As he drew the curtains, the two maids asked curiously, "Count Altair, has something happened to Butler Freya?"

Altair looked at the two adorable maids in front of him and pinched their cheeks, saying, "How would I know? She didn't say anything after she came in, and she wouldn't answer when I asked her. I could only let Hahn handle it."

The two maids looked worried upon hearing this.

Altair observed all of this and, through their time living together, came to understand that Freya Quinn was a rather stubborn person. Since she had come to him this time, it meant that she really had no other choice.

But if you don't tell me, there's nothing I can do to help you. I can only notify Hahn and ask him to help. I can't possibly ask you to ask me to.

Altair acknowledged Hahn's abilities; basically, there was nothing he couldn't handle if entrusted with a task. Perhaps things would be resolved once they returned.

When Altair turned to look at the two maids, he flicked each of them on the forehead. He said directly, "I've already sent Hahn to handle it. Don't be so upset. If you ruin my good mood today, see how I punish you when we get back."

The two maids, upon hearing Altair's threat, playfully stuck out their tongues and said, "Count Altair would never punish us for something like this."

"Yes, Count Altair is a good man."
