Chapter 12 Hinata's Memories

Hinata's life took a different turn at the age of six.

Before the age of six, although she was the daughter of the head of the Hyuga clan, the second ninja clan in Konoha, Hinata could not find any meaning in her efforts compared to the clan members who worked so hard.

As the daughter of the clan chief, she had too much. Apart from not wanting to disappoint her father, she was naturally unambitious and lacked a strong heart.

She prefers spending time with her mother, arranging flowers, and doing housework to the sweat and toil on the training field.

She may lack talent in the Hyuga clan's Gentle Fist, but she has a great deal of talent in these trivial things that are insignificant to ninjas.

If she weren't the daughter of the Hyuga clan head, Hinata would definitely be a perfect girl in every sense of the word.

However, Hinata is, after all, the daughter of the head of the Hyuga clan.

Kindness, gentleness, willingness to share, patience, and empathy—qualities that would be shining qualities in any ordinary girl—were meticulously portrayed as weak in the eyes of her father, Hiashi Hyuga.

If nothing unexpected happens, Hinata will be replaced by her father's new child, but an unexpected encounter occurs when she is six years old.

That was the year the Ninja World War ended completely.

After other ninja villages joined the Hokage's grand Konoha development plan, even the most stubborn Kumogakure village gave up its last stand and sent representatives to negotiate.

That day happened to be Hinata's birthday.

Sitting by the hospital bed, smelling the warm scent of Naruto that was unique to him in the air, and looking at the sleeping Naruto, for some reason, those past events suddenly surfaced from my memory.

Hinata gazed quietly at Naruto's face, which seemed to glow against his golden hair, as if she were transported back to that unforgettable night.

It was her sixth birthday party.

Although he was not favored by his father, Hiashi still held an incredibly grand banquet for Hinata out of consideration for appearances and for some other reasons.

That was also the first time Hinata met Naruto.

Hinata's memory of that banquet had become somewhat hazy. She couldn't remember who came or what the banquet's proceedings were like. She only remembered that at the height of the commotion, the entire room fell silent instantly after hearing a piece of news.

Then, as the man stepped into the room, the entire room instantly became incredibly frenzied, like gunpowder exploding.

Hinata knew that man, Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage of Konoha.

When she was three years old, her father held her hand and told her that this man was the strongest in Konoha and might be the greatest person in Konoha's history.

And such a great person, the moment he stepped into the room, completely occupied the entire space like sunlight.

But Hinata was more concerned about the boy standing next to the Hokage.

Thinking of this, Hinata couldn't help but laugh.

The face in front of me, which was gradually losing its childishness, was slowly overlapping with the face I had seen when we first met.

Hinata was surprised when she first saw Naruto.

As the most prestigious child in the Hyuga clan, Hinata, who can be considered the princess of the Hyuga clan, is always unconsciously overshadowed by her father's brilliance whenever she is with him.

Not only her, but most of the children of ninja clan leaders she had seen were like that.

The parents' brilliance is so dazzling that even the most outstanding child is merely a foil to that brilliance.

But Naruto is different.

He stood there quietly, beside the most brilliant light of Konoha, but he did not become a mere backdrop to that light; instead, he radiated his own light.

The light, though faint, was real.

This greatly surprised Hinata, and at the same time, she couldn't help but feel a little curious about this dazzling boy.

For the first time, Hinata felt an urge to get to know a boy, but she didn't expect that day to come so soon.

After the Hokage took his seat, an unexpected guest appeared.

An envoy from Yunren.

Hinata remembered that her father had complained more than once about the Cloud Ninja who used peace talks as an excuse but never made any progress in the negotiations.

So when faced with this group of uninvited guests, the father clearly gave a cold snort.

After that, the banquet ended hastily. Hinata took off the kimono, which was a bit heavy for her, and returned to her room, falling asleep with curiosity about the boy next to the Hokage.

In Hinata's memory, she was awakened by the rough friction of her arm.

When she opened her eyes, she saw not the familiar house, but pitch blackness.

She tried to speak, but couldn't make a sound; she tried to struggle, but her body was out of control.

Only the faint sound of the wind remained.

At first, Hinata still held onto hope, but the sound of the wind in her ears was like an invisible hammer, smashing her hopes to pieces one by one.

After an unknown amount of time, just when Hinata had completely given up hope, the wind stopped, followed by a feeling of weightlessness.

But before Hinata could feel any fear, she fell into someone's arms.

The next moment, the dense darkness before her eyes was dispersed by the moonlight disc player, and under the moonlight, Hinata saw the sun.

"Mmm."

Hinata was startled awake by the tickling sensation of her nose being scratched by the ends of her hair. She opened her eyes in confusion, not realizing that she had actually fallen asleep.

She subconsciously looked up, and there was a face as warm as she remembered, like the sun, looking at her apologetically.

"Sorry, I woke you up."

Hinata shook her head subconsciously, then lowered her head shyly.

Before the age of six, Hinata always lived in a blurry darkness, unable to see the future, unable to see the direction, without goals or ideals.

But at the age of six, after experiencing the deepest darkness of her life, she saw the sun.

She became determined, she became hardworking, she became more diligent than anyone else, all in order to keep up with the sun rising under the moonlight.

"Naruto-kun".

"What's wrong?"

Why did you show up that night?

"Because Hinata is also a partner I want to protect."

The conversation from her memory resurfaced once more, and this conversation contained a different kind of power that dispelled Hinata's shyness.

She raised her head, looked at Naruto on the hospital bed, and suddenly laughed.

This smile was like a suddenly blooming epiphyllum, incredibly vibrant and passionate, appearing before Naruto's eyes, leaving him momentarily stunned.

"Naruto-kun".

Hinata's voice pulled Naruto back to reality. He looked at the serene girl in front of him, and, thinking about his abruptness, scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly.

"What's wrong, Hinata?"

"Meeting Naruto is the best thing that ever happened to me!"

Hinata, unusually, did not use honorifics. Her expression was extremely serene, and even the smile on her face was as gentle as her voice, lacking the vibrancy and enthusiasm of before.

But looking at Hinata like this, Naruto suddenly felt his heart pounding incredibly fast.

He subconsciously turned his head, took a deep breath, and stared at the ceiling as if he hadn't heard anything.

But his lips moved, uttering a sentence that only Hinata could hear.

"Meeting Hinata is the best thing ever!"
