The Silent Witch of Hogwarts

Chapter 9: The Silent Witch

The silver spell hurtled towards Loila, but she dodged it with a sidestep.

"What?" The dark wizard was stunned for a moment, looking at Loila with surprise. He did not expect that his spell would be dodged by a girl who was only a teenager.

But when he saw Loila's pointed ears and silver hair, he immediately frowned and said, "Damn Veela!"

He subconsciously attributed Royla's astonishing reaction to some kind of bloodline ability of "Fantastic Beasts".

"But that's fine... a Veela is worth far more than a minor wizard!" he said, raising his wand again. "Faint!"

As the red spell struck, Loila instinctively lowered her body.

As the spell flew overhead, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Thankfully... I haven't forgotten the skills I learned at Durmstrang...

In the past, Durmstrang students had to pass a very rigorous dueling exam to graduate, and as one of the few students who graduated early, Royla was most skilled in wizard duels.

Because of her short stature and exceptional agility, and her mastery of the Silent Spell, Loila won the Durmstrang school competition for two consecutive years.

At the same time, she was not popular with her classmates and was often attacked and pranked by them with spells during her ordinary school life.

This is why avoiding the curse has become an unconscious conditioned reflex for Loila.

"You bastard..." The dark wizard pursed his lips, sensing that he was in trouble.

He didn't have time to waste on such things; if the Ministry of Magic found out, he'd be facing Azkaban...

So he gripped his wand tightly and suddenly pointed it at Luna.

"Don't move!" he shouted. "Otherwise, your friend's life will be in danger."

Oh no...

Loila pursed her lips, her face turning pale. Without her wand, she was already unable to retaliate; if she couldn't dodge either…

She looked at Luna with a hint of embarrassment. She had come to save Luna, but ended up getting herself involved as well.

Suddenly, she noticed Luna's gaze; she was looking at her cuffs.

"Keep your hands close to your trouser seams! Walk slowly towards me!" the middle-aged man shouted. "Don't think I don't know Veela can cast spells without a wand!"

It seems he didn't realize that Loila wasn't actually a purebred Veela.

"Don't make any moves, or I'll use the Killing Curse right now!" he threatened, pointing at Luna.

Loila took a deep breath upon hearing this. Her face beneath the tattered hood was deathly pale, but her eyes were surprisingly calm. She cautiously exchanged a glance with Luna, then bit her lip and took small steps toward the dark wizard.

Looking at the pale-faced girl in front of him, whose pointed ears were twitching, the middle-aged man revealed a triumphant smile.

He knew that many people were scrambling to buy Veela... He never expected to get such an opportunity today. He excitedly rubbed his wand, completely unaware of the exchange of glances between Loila and Luna.

As Loila slowly approached, she brushed past Luna, their sleeves brushing against each other slightly, and Loila's hand clenched slightly.

"Clatter."

She moved abruptly, her right hand reaching for Luna's sleeve.

"What are you doing?!" The middle-aged man instinctively flicked his wand: "Avada Kedavra!"

A pale green spell shot out from the tip of the staff, heading straight for Luna, but the silver-haired figure stepped to the side and blocked the little witch.

"Bang!"

The curse, like a snake's tongue, struck Loila's hand hard, and then, to the middle-aged man's astonishment, Loila flicked her right hand and slammed it against the wall behind her.

"Wh...what?" He stared in surprise at Loila's hand, in which she was holding a short brown cane.

This is the wand Luna just bought, which she kept hidden in her sleeve.

"You damned bastard!" the dark wizard cursed in shock and rage, then raised his wand high: "Avada Kedavra..."

Before he finished speaking, a red spell, as thick as a wrist, shot out from the tip of Loila's staff.

Silent spells are faster, more covert, and more deadly than ordinary spells.

"Bang!"

The dark wizard, struck by the Stunning Curse, was sent flying backwards like a Quake ball crashing into the ground of Knockout Alley.

"Hoo..." As the middle-aged man fell to the ground, Loila, who had been silent and appeared quite calm, let out a long breath, and her ears, which had been raised high due to tension, slowly drooped down.

Thankfully, I saw Luna's warning... and noticed the wand on her sleeve... otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

She had been too reckless... but it was unavoidable... Loila didn't want to watch her future student being kidnapped like this, especially since she was Grindelwald's person; such human trafficking was intolerable.

Hmm... You said Lord Grindelwald seems to have done quite a few illegal things, but we can't generalize, right... After all... Royla didn't see it with her own eyes, right?

After calming herself down, Loila tapped her wand lightly at Luna.

With a flash of silver light, the petrification curse on Luna was lifted.

"Are you... are you alright...?" Loila asked softly.

"It's nothing." Luna seemed as if nothing had happened. She was neither as panicked as Loyla had imagined, nor was she overjoyed.

Instead, he glanced calmly at the middle-aged man lying on the ground, then looked thoughtfully at Loila.

Compared to the fight and her narrow escape, she seemed more interested in Loila.

"Veeps can actually use silent spells?" she muttered to herself. "And..."

As she spoke, she suddenly reached out and tugged at Loila's pointed ear.

"Eek!" Loila screamed, took a few steps back, and covered her ears.

Are your ears very sensitive?

"Mmm...mmm!" Loila nodded blushing and then pulled up her hood to cover her ears. She felt extremely ashamed, as she hadn't realized that her ears had been exposed.

"Ah... I'm sorry." Luna bowed slightly. "You're the first Veela I've ever met... I'm a little curious."

Why did you cover your ears before?

"Because...it's...very strange..." Loila whispered, "Don't you think...it's...disgusting?"

"Disgusting?" Luna was unusually taken aback. "It's actually quite funny."

"Interesting?" Loila had heard many comments at Durmstrang, but she had never heard the word "interesting" before.

"Yes, that's right." Luna nodded seriously, "Just like the Curved-Horned Snoring Beast, they also have a pair of sharp horns."

Pointed corners and pointed ears should be different, right...?

Despite thinking this, seeing that Luna didn't seem to mind her ears, Loila felt a lot more at ease.

After all, the nicknames she had heard most often before were "pointed-eared monster" or "triangular-eared monster"...

This reminded her of unpleasant memories from Durmstrang.

"Ah... thank you so much." Luna seemed to only then remember, and smiled. "Thank you for saving me."

"Ah...no need..." Loila blushed and wanted to say something, but stammered for a long time without being able to get the words out.

Luna watched the scene unfold with a smile, then took off her necklace.

It was a necklace with a butterbeer cork hanging from it.

"This is for you," Luna said, placing it in Loila's hand.

"This is……"

"I made this necklace myself," Luna said in a low voice, "It can help you avoid slugs."

"A harpoon hook?" Loila said she had never heard of it before... but it was a gift...

This was the first time she had received a gift.

It was a very strange gift...

"Th...thank you..." she said instinctively.

"Thank me?" Luna tilted her head slightly. "Didn't Miss Hamilton save me?"

"Ah... I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." Loila shook her head and began to apologize again.

"Hahahaha." Luna chuckled. "Miss Hamilton is quite an interesting person."

Just like Dad.

This doesn't seem like... a good analogy, does it?
