Chapter 63 Magneto's daughter, Polaris!
Chapter 63 Magneto's daughter, Polaris!
Logan has not heard any news from Magneto since the Westchester incident.
Even though the professor would occasionally mention that old friend, Law, who was constantly on the run, was too preoccupied with his own survival to care about Magneto's life or death.
What he didn't expect was that he would run into his daughter, Lorna, here.
Only then did Logan realize what was happening and abruptly looked up at John.
If Polaris is his friend, then this guy who calls himself John is probably John Proudstar, nicknamed Thunderbird.
However, John now looked at least ten years younger than he remembered. After all, the John he had seen on TV looked at least twenty or thirty years old, a stark contrast to the somewhat youthful face he had now.
Logan handed the photo back, smiling, and said, "Just let me know when you're leaving, and Victor and I will help."
He had already agreed to save her, and now that he knew the person he was supposed to save was Lorna, he felt even more obligated to do so, since she was, after all, the descendant of an old friend.
The following morning, Logan told Victor and the professor about it, while warning them to keep it a secret from the children for the time being.
This was also John's request, since if the children knew about this, they would definitely volunteer to help, and they are not yet suitable to participate in such dangerous operations.
"Are you going to rescue people?"
Caliban, who had just woken up, overheard their conversation and quickly came over.
Logan nodded. "Yes, their people have been arrested. We should help them out since we're going to their shelter."
"But that would increase the risks."
Caliban looked reluctant. For him, only by getting into the shelter as soon as possible could he feel safe. He was unwilling to take any more risks along the way. There had been too many exciting things along the way, and he was already a little overwhelmed.
"Shut up, Caliban!"
Charles sternly pulled Caliban away, then said seriously to Logan, "We should help with this, but we must be careful, especially you, Logan."
As he spoke, he glanced warily towards the door, then lowered his voice and said, "Don't expose your heat vision. It's not the right time for it to be made public yet."
Logan nodded. "Yes, I'll be careful."
Even if Charles doesn't say it, he won't easily reveal this new ability.
The news that someone's X gene has mutated and that they can awaken new abilities at nearly two hundred years old would drive any biological laboratory into a frenzy, and would also draw the attention of government departments.
Every drop of his blood will be coveted by various laboratories, who will use these mutated X genes as a model to clone a group of monsters that are even more difficult to deal with, but can be tamed by them.
The government will spare no effort to find the cause of the X gene mutation and seek ways to suppress it, thus blocking any opportunity for mutants to grow.
At that time, he will be relentlessly hunted down, and he will no longer face small fry like Dr. Rice, but the real military!
His ultimate fate will be one of perpetual turmoil.
Logan sighed deeply. He possessed abilities that made everyone wary, but he didn't have the power to fight against everyone. So, this power would only bring danger.
Just then, John knocked on the door and said, "Logan, we should get going."
"Coming right away."
Logan stood up in response and pulled Victor downstairs with him.
A car that John and his friends had somehow gotten their hands on was already parked outside the cabin, and Klaus was waiting in the driver's seat.
John led the two of them to open the car door and get in. This scene was witnessed by Laura, who was having breakfast on the first floor. She quickly ran up, grabbed Logan's finger, tilted her head and looked at the car with a questioning expression.
Logan crouched down, smiled, and ruffled Laura's hair. "We're going out for a bit. You stay here with the other kids and don't run around, okay?"
Laura glanced worriedly at a bag in the car, which contained a lot of weapons. She guessed that Logan and his men might be going on some dangerous mission.
Seeing the girl's worried expression, Logan smiled. "Don't worry, everything will be fine. You stay here and protect everyone. We'll be back soon."
Laura nodded obediently, released Logan's fingers, and instructed, "Be careful, we'll wait for you here."
Logan hummed in agreement, smiled, ruffled the girl's soft hair, then turned and got into the car, closing the door behind him.
Klaus started the car and quickly drove to his destination.
The vehicle drove into the city, but did not go directly to the prison. Instead, it arrived at a residential community in the city, which consisted entirely of detached houses with relatively exquisite decorations. However, because it was a weekday, the streets were very deserted and there were hardly any people.
"Not going to prison?"
Logan saw the car parked in front of a building and looked puzzled. This didn't look like a place where mutants were imprisoned.
"We don't know exactly where Lorna is being held; we'll have to ask someone first."
John got out of the car and pointed to a building in front of him, saying, "Room number three. The owner there knows where she is."
Logan quickly got out of the car and followed, while Victor and Klaus waited in the car, keeping watch on their surroundings.
After walking a few steps, Logan and John stood in front of the detached house number three. Judging from the decoration of the house, the owner must be a very serious person. The decoration was conventional, and all the decorations were arranged meticulously.
While Logan was still looking at the house, John had already knocked on the door.
Boom boom boom!
The sound echoed inside the room, but after waiting for a long time, no one responded.
"Who lives here? Your friend?"
Logan asked curiously.
But as soon as the voice fell, the door, which had remained silent for a long time, creaked open, though the other party was clearly very cautious and only opened it a crack.
Through the gap, Logan saw a middle-aged man in a suit and tie, who had the air of a successful man.
The man sized them up, frowned, and asked, "Gentlemen, is there something you need?"
boom!
John responded by suddenly kicking the door, the force of which caused the door to slam into the man, sending him flying and crashing to the ground.
John quickly crawled inside, grabbed the man by the collar and pulled him up, while simultaneously dragging over a chair and shoving him hard against it.
"Fuck!"
Logan couldn't help but curse, "Young people these days are too hot-tempered!"
He quickly turned around to look around, and after confirming that no one on the street had seen what was happening, he hurriedly went inside and closed the door again.
Logan looked at John, who was holding the man down tightly, and felt a headache coming on.
This guy is too reckless! You know, there are police in this area arresting mutants, and any conflict would attract their attention. How dare he do this!
"Who are you people?"
The man struggled in the chair, but John's hands gripped him like vises, making it impossible for him to break free. He could only shout angrily, "I'm a prosecutor! You're breaking the law!"
"Are you Reed Strucker?"
John stared intently into the man's eyes and questioned him in a calm voice.
"it's me."
Reed frowned, looking at John and Logan's hostile expressions, and warned, "Who are you? Kidnapping a prosecutor is a serious crime!"
"You're Reed?"
The familiar name slightly surprised Logan. He glanced at the simple yet very clean house and noticed a family photo hanging on the living room wall.
In the photo, Ridgen’s wife stands on either side of him, with their two children in the middle, creating a very heartwarming scene.
It really was him.
Looking at the person in the photo, Logan couldn't help but murmur to himself.
Reed Strucker is a district attorney who specializes in mutant cases. In The Gifted, Lorna and her group will have some interaction with him, but not so early.
It seems that the timeline of this universe is different.
Logan muttered to himself.
Where is Lorna?
John had already begun the interrogation, staring intently into Reed's eyes, as if he would kill him if he didn't answer.
"Are you her accomplices?"
Reed realized what was happening, then snorted coldly, "Looks like arresting her wasn't unjustified after all. You mutants only bring violence!"
Tell me, where is she!
John ignored his words and questioned him loudly with a cold look in his eyes.
"In prison."
Even though he was being held hostage, Reed remained defiant, even showing a hint of disgust in his eyes. "I advise you to turn yourselves in right now. Maybe you can end up in the same prison as her. You bunch of primitives who only know how to solve problems with violence can't get away with crimes. No one is above the laws of this country. Even if you damned mutants have superpowers, you can't change the rules of the law!"
boom!
Without a word, John slammed his fist into Reed's abdomen. The force of the blow instantly contorted Reed's face, and he vomited up a mouthful of ascites. The pain in his abdomen made his whole body tremble, but his eyes remained fierce.
"Which prison ward, which cell?"
John's voice was icy, and he raised his fist, as if he would throw another punch if Reed didn't answer.
"have no idea!"
Reed gritted his teeth, stubbornly spitting out three words, his eyes showing no sign of weakness.
John was immediately enraged and swung his fist down again, but Logan grabbed it, saying, "Don't waste your energy, let me do it."
He knew Reed's character; violence wouldn't change his mind. Only the law could change this guy's mind.
"Hmph, you mutants really have no one left, you even have to drag out such an old man."
Reed gave Logan a cold snort. "Old man, when you get old, you should retire. Don't associate with these guys. Go find a place to retire."
Logan glanced at him and shook his head, saying, "Then you have to give us a place to retire."
As he spoke, he walked to the wall, took down the family photo, touched it, and gave it a dangerous look. "These are your two children? They look so cute."
Upon hearing this, Reed panicked instantly. His confident expression was replaced by terror. "What are you going to do! I'm warning you, this has nothing to do with them. Don't do anything rash."
"Of course I won't do anything reckless."
Logan stroked the photo and smiled, "But the condition is that you have to cooperate. If you don't answer our questions, then I'm afraid I'll have to go to them for the answers. I believe they will be happy to tell me."
"Damn it, you bunch of vermin, criminals, primitive bastards who only know how to use violence, the law will not let you get away with this!"
Reed roared angrily, struggling violently, but John held him firmly in place, and he was unable to resist.
Logan didn't respond, just staring at the photo.
A moment later, Reed completely lost his temper and, scratching his head, said, "C-sector prison, cell 103."
Upon hearing this, Logan smiled and hung the photo back in its place. "It would have been better if we had done this sooner."
Reed's face darkened, and he stopped responding.
John didn't waste any words. He pulled open Reed's suit jacket, tied him tightly to the chair, and gagged him with a towel, completely eliminating any thought he might have of calling the police.
After doing all this, John didn't linger. He quickly turned around, pushed open the door, and walked out.
Logan was about to leave, but after glancing at the family photo, he stopped and turned to Reed, saying, "Don't harbor such hatred towards mutants. Not all mutants are bad. Sometimes we're just forced into it. And one day, the suffering we've endured will fall on you too. Then you'll understand that the law has never been fair to mutants."
After saying that, Logan turned and left, gently closing the door behind him as Reed glared angrily.
He didn't know if the other person had listened to what he said.
But he knew that Reed's two children would also awaken mutant abilities in the near future.
When that day comes, he will understand everything.
