Chapter 34 Captain America on the Streets of Santa Fe

Splash!

Blood splattered everywhere, the massive body spewing blood several meters high, completely staining the ground red.

"call……"

Logan stood with one hand on his hip, panting heavily. His rough breathing sounded as if he had just been relieved of suffocation. His body, standing in the setting sun, looked somewhat hunched, and sweat mixed with blood dripped down his face.

The intense burst of energy was almost too much for this elderly body to handle. The soreness in his limbs made it difficult for him to make any large movements. If he had persisted for a few more rounds, it was hard to say who would have collapsed.

Fortunately, that big guy didn't have the strength to keep going.

Logan looked back at the massive corpse, the headless carcass, the burly body gradually turning white as blood flowed away.

"Fortunately, it's just a clone."

Logan couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief.

It's clear that Hydra's cloning capabilities need improvement; this behemoth's strength is far inferior to that of the real Juggernaut.

If the real Juggernaut were here, Logan didn't think he could stand up to him in his current state.

Bang bang bang! !

The gunfire on the other side gradually subsided and eventually ceased.

Thanks to Donald and his men's superb marksmanship, the Hydra henchmen had no chance to retaliate.

Even though their weapons were superior to those of Donald and his men, the difference in combat skills could not be compensated for by equipment alone.

Not long after Logan finished off the big guy, their battle also ended, and all the ragtag soldiers were now corpses lying in the jungle.

"Let's go. This is just the advance team. Their reinforcements will arrive soon. We need to get out of here before they completely surround us."

Donald holstered his pistol in his back pocket, patted Logan on the shoulder, and then glanced at the big guy lying dead on the ground.

The clean cut at the neck made him feel a growing sense of apprehension towards Logan.

Samuel and Josh, who were responsible for finishing off the remaining Hydra henchmen and ensuring that none of them survived, also stepped forward.

"James, your back is bleeding!"

Samuel immediately noticed Logan's back. His cheap suit was already torn, and his exposed back was a shocking sight. Crimson blood kept seeping from his flesh, dripping down the tattered clothes to the ground.

This was the result of the big guy forcefully slamming him against the high wall; the violent impact instantly turned his back into a bloody mess.

Moreover, if he hadn't possessed an adamantium skeleton, an ordinary person would have been shattered to pieces from such an impact.

"I bet those soldiers brought first-aid kits!"

Josh quickly turned to look at the corpses of the Hydra soldiers in the distance. Usually, such heavily armed organizations would be equipped with a certain number of medical kits before setting out.

Logan reached out to stop Josh from searching the body. "There's no time. We need to get out of here."

"And your injury..." Samuel looked at Logan's back with concern.

"It's okay, it will heal on its own."

Logan gritted his teeth and endured the excruciating pain, then turned and walked towards the main entrance of the laboratory. "Let's go, the Hydra vehicles are definitely around here."

After a search, the group successfully located Hydra's off-road motorcycles hidden near the laboratory before it got completely dark, and quickly returned to the town.

Upon arriving in the town, the group abandoned the truck provided by the Lawrence family, since they were now essentially on the run, and the truck's speed was hardly befitting of the word "escape."

Donald bought a small-town resident's car for more than twice the price, and the group drove back to Santa Fe overnight in the faster car.

Meanwhile, near the laboratory deep in the forest, several off-road motorcycles roared over and came to a steady stop in front of the corpses of the Hydra minions.

A group of people got off their motorcycles and, ignoring the scattered corpses, went straight to the large man who had been beheaded.

"One sever an arm, one decapitate. Although it is a clone, the density of its flesh makes it difficult for bullets to penetrate. A weapon with such destructive power must either be made of vibranium or... adamantium."

A man squatted down next to the big guy, carefully examining the corpse. He added at the end, "There are claw marks on the armor. It looks like it's definitely adamantium."

The leader listened to his subordinate's report, stared at the corpse, and said coldly, "It seems they have bred a new Wolverine."

...

...

...

The gray sedan sped along the highway in the dark night, moving much faster than the truck.

Samuel, in the driver's seat, would occasionally turn to look at Logan in the passenger seat, worried that the horrific injury on his back might kill him on the way back.

To his astonishment, the speed at which Logan's back injury healed was simply unimaginable to ordinary people.

When they left the town, Logan's back was still dripping blood, which completely stained the passenger seat red.

However, after walking around for a while, the bleeding rate decreased rapidly.

Even now, the wounds covering his back are completely dry, with no blood flowing out at all, and some parts have even formed a thick layer of scabs.

These scenes left Samuel in awe.

After all, if such an injury were to occur to an ordinary person, it would be impossible to stop the bleeding without going to the hospital and getting hundreds of stitches.

Donald, sitting in the back seat, noticed Samuel's surprise and scoffed, "Don't look at me like that. This guy is a mutant with a healing factor. When he was young, he could recover quickly from injuries like this, or even from the devastation of a nuclear explosion."

As he spoke, he suddenly laughed and said to Logan, "However, he's gotten so old now that even this little scratch takes so long to heal."

As he spoke, he even reached out and gently poked the festering, mangled flesh on Logan's back, causing Logan to gasp and turn around to glare at him coldly.

Donald quickly leaned back, revealing an innocent smile, and raised his hands in a gesture of surrender.

Logan ignored him, instead turning to glance at Samuel and Josh, and after a moment of silence said, "I hope you can keep this a secret."

Samuel quickly replied, "Don't worry, you've saved me several times. Even if I die, I'll keep this a secret."

Josh nodded emphatically behind him, "Don't worry."

Logan then turned around and looked at the night view outside the window.

He knew that these two people would definitely keep it a secret for him for now, since they both still had to work for the Lawrence family. If they exposed their secret, it would be equivalent to exposing that the Lawrence family had the secret of Wolverine.

Neither Wolverine nor the Lawrence family are people they can afford to offend.

……

After a night of hurried travel, the group finally entered the territory of Santa Fe City. Returning here brought Samuel and Josh a strange sense of peace.

"We're almost out of gas, we need to refuel."

Samuel looked at the car's dashboard, which had warned of low fuel levels half an hour earlier.

Logan nodded. He had changed into a set of temporary clothes he had bought during a short stop at the service area: a T-shirt and sweatpants. He also washed all the blood off his body with bottled water.

While Samuel was waiting in line to refuel his car, Logan got out of the car and went to the convenience store across from the gas station to buy a pack of cigarettes. He then stood in the alley next to the convenience store and started smoking.

Just as he exhaled a smoke ring, a voice suddenly came from outside the alley.

"Tony, are you sure this machine is working?"

The familiar voice instantly caught Logan's attention. He quickly hid himself in the shadows and cautiously peeked out in the direction of the sound.

Upon recognizing the source of the sound, Logan's pupils constricted sharply. "How did they get here..."

Not far away were Steve and Natasha. Although they had changed into casual clothes, their faces were still very recognizable.
