Chapter 85 Gathering

Maria Hill, a Level 9 agent, is Nick Fury's protégé to become the next director, taking over the public SHIELD, while Phil Coulson will take over the part he secretly built.

Nick Fury is indeed the king of spies, but his plans lack support. After discovering Hydra, he can only rely on Captain America to stop Hydra's plans.

Thus, S.H.I.E.L.D. disappeared from the public eye.

"This is the room prepared for you. It has combat uniforms and equipment. Take a look!" Maria Hill said. "Your room is fine with smoking."

"Thank you!" Link said, then pushed open the door and looked at the furnishings inside, which consisted of only a bedroom and a bathroom.

On one wall of the bedroom hung a number of firearms, as well as Link's throwing knife box, a black combat uniform, military boots, and so on.

Link lay down on the bed. He was probably the closest, and the others should be on their way, so there was no rush.

Link smoked a cigarette, pondering what to do next. Now that Loki had taken the Tesseract, he needed to build a machine to activate it. That shouldn't be a problem, since the Mind Stone could control people.

He can find enough people to help him accomplish this, but will he still plan to attack S.H.I.E.L.D.?

If Hawkeye is taken away, many secrets will be lost, such as this space carrier. In fact, attacking here is unnecessary. As long as he can open the portal, the Chitauri army can immediately attack Earth.

There's no need to attack the Helicarrier. The key link now is the Hulk. Does Hawkeye know that Bruce Banner has already taken control of the Hulk?

The problem Link is facing now is timing—the timing to take the Tesseract. He went through the movie's plot and it seemed there wasn't much of a chance.

Unless you fall off the space carrier yourself and then use a flying skateboard to fly back to New York and get the Cosmic Cube before the machine starts, once the machine starts, it will form an energy shield.

I can break it myself, but once I break it, won't I be exposed?

This isn't what Link wants, but he can try. If Loki deliberately lets himself be captured and ends up on the Helicarrier to provoke Hulk, Hawkeye will definitely attack. He can then find an opportunity to fall off and see what happens.

Even if that doesn't work, I can go back to get my equipment, start my vehicle, and head to the battlefield.

Link stubbed out his cigarette, then looked at his combat uniform and began to take off his clothes.

The black combat uniform is a one-piece suit that fits well when worn, with the trouser legs tucked into the military boots.

Link fastened an armor belt, took out a thigh holster, and strapped it to his right thigh. This position was the most comfortable and quickest for drawing his gun, and he tested it at normal speed.

There were quite a few weapons hanging on the wall, but he only had a Glock 17 in its holster. It was non-combat time, so he didn't need to carry spare magazines, making it seem like he was always ready for battle.

However, after Link finished equipping himself, he did not leave the room. Instead, he lay back down on the bed, took out a cigarette, and lit another one.

Someone will come to call me soon, or the communicator in the room will ring, but I'll still prefer to stay lying down.

Bruce Banner was far away; he boarded the Quinjet after Nick Fury had called him earlier, asking for his help.

Tony Stark received the news last night, and Coulson gave him some information, which he reviewed overnight and realized the importance of the matter.

Captain America Steve Rogers was personally invited by Nick Fury, who also provided him with a document.

Link is the only one without!

Soon, these people boarded the space carrier, the flight system was activated, and there was a knock on Link's door.

The visitor was Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow. "Lin, it's been a long time."

"It has indeed been a long time!" Link nodded. They had only met once, at the New York branch, when the other party came to test his fighting ability.

"Let's go, Fury is waiting." With that, Black Widow turned and left, with Link following behind.

The two entered the command room, where there was a round conference table where everyone was seated. Link raised an eyebrow; sure enough, something had changed.

Tony Stark is here too. He actually arrived right on time. It seems I can't completely rely on the plot anymore.

"Hey, Link!" Stark waved to Link, followed by Bruce Banner and Steve Rogers. All three of them had met Link before and received his help.

Nick Fury glanced at Link and then said, "Now that you all know each other, let me explain the situation."

He then gave a brief introduction to the Tesseract, followed by information about Loki in Asgard and the captured personnel. Finally, he said to Bruce Banner, "Doctor, you are the expert in this field. If anyone knows about the Tesseract, it's you."

Bruce Banner needs to gather all the gamma testers on the roof, and then he will write an algorithm to find the whereabouts of the Tesseract.

Nick Fury sent Black Widow to work with the Doctor, and Tony Stark to help, leaving Captain America and Link behind.

Nick Fury said, "Our people are still around the world, mobilizing all cameras, phones, computers, and so on, to find Loki's whereabouts. Once we find him, Captain, Lin, it's up to you."

"No problem," Steve Rogers said.

Link asked, "Loki came to Earth via the Tesseract, so he must be facing heavy defenses, right?"

"Yes!" Nick Fury nodded.

Link then asked, "So, the bullets are ineffective against him?"

Nick Fury nodded to him and said, "Indeed, a guard shot him; the assault rifle bullets were ineffective."
