Chapter 7 The Card Game
Chapter 7 The Card Game
Wearing swim trunks, his muscular physique attracted the attention of many beautiful women, including many wealthy women. Many came up to say hello, but Link refused them all.
He doesn't really like the women here. Everyone knows what kind of people these women are, and Link doesn't want to clean the sewers for others.
Swimming was secondary; he was enjoying the sunshine. The Las Vegas sun was amazing, making him feel invigorated.
He didn't go back to his room to shower until dinner time, and after enjoying a sumptuous dinner, he headed straight to the casino.
As his funds accumulated, he didn't stay in the casino all the time. Every night, there were large-scale song and dance performances at the hotel. Once Link's funds reached $100,000, he stopped gambling and went to watch the performances.
Anyway, he has half a month of vacation, so he can take his time.
Although he didn't win much money, he still attracted the attention of the casino. Specialists analyzed him and found that he liked to observe other people's expressions when playing blackjack.
The casino quickly retrieved his information; the shareholders here were all quite powerful, and Link's information was found very quickly.
A bachelor's degree in psychology is essentially equivalent to graduating from university. He then became a police officer. After graduating from college, he joined the New York Police Department. He performed exceptionally well during his internship and, after becoming a full-fledged officer, did something significant.
This is a killing machine!
He came to Las Vegas because the New York Police Department wanted to protect him.
So they temporarily listed Link as their target. There were no signs that he was cheating; it seemed more like a psychological phenomenon, where he was used to observing other people's expressions to judge their cards.
Link was unaware of these things, and even if he had, he wouldn't have cared, since no one could detect his superpowers.
The song and dance performances are fantastic, and the show changes regularly, so you'll never get bored.
But everything here reeks of money!
Link spends his days sunbathing at the pool, and his evenings going to the casino to win some money. Then he watches TV shows, including some famous talk shows. He watched a few of them.
The casino was keeping a close eye on him; he was just a guy on vacation, and his psychology was pretty good.
By this time, Link had changed his game and started playing Texas Hold'em. Blackjack requires a lot of luck, while Texas Hold'em is more about strategy.
Link felt great. He had been applying the original owner's psychology here these past few days. Superman already had a super brain, but he just didn't use it.
But Link knows how to use it. Psychology is so useful, so naturally he doesn't want to give it up. It's very helpful to him and can even explain many problems.
Here he began to dominate, with an excuse, and a good one at that. His understanding of psychology had improved significantly, and the X-vision became more like a trump card.
Thus, he won five million US dollars, and the casino finally made a move. Of course, it wasn't to ask him to leave, but to invite him to participate in an even bigger game.
The casino organizes games for some big clients, or the big clients request the games to be organized themselves!
Link was intrigued and readily accepted the invitation. The time was set for 8 p.m. the next day, ending at midnight, a total of four hours.
……
The next day, after dinner, Link was invited into the VIP room at 7:30 p.m., but he was the only one there.
He didn't complain about it; it suited his current status. He didn't just wait idly either; instead, he became interested in the high-end drinks and cigars prepared there.
He asked the bunny girl next to him in detail. It was a top-grade Cuban cigar, not the most expensive, but the hotel had invested heavily, offering dozens of kinds of high-end drinks.
Link asked very detailed questions about how to roast the tobacco to bring out its aroma, how to take a puff, savor it in your mouth, and then exhale without inhaling.
Of course, some people can pass through the lungs, but such people are extremely rare. The ingredients inside have no effect on Link, so he only needs the scent.
Then choose a drink to pair with and see which flavor suits you best. Link surprisingly likes a plum-flavored bourbon the most.
This is a type of whiskey, with varying prices. Link remembered the brand, then grabbed a bottle and went to enjoy it on the sofa.
Anyway, it's free, and he can't get drunk. Even Captain America can't get drunk, let alone him.
Time passed slowly, but Link didn't seem bored. At 7:50, the door to the private room opened again.
The rest of the people came in one after another, and the one at the front was Tony Stark, who was arguing with someone.
"Hammer, you're going to lose today." The person he was arguing with was Justin Hammer, the chairman of the Hammer Corporation.
Following them were two white people, a man and a woman.
The man was extremely tall and muscular, over 1.9 meters tall, and was carrying a cane. He was also bald.
The woman looked quite old, at least in her fifties or sixties, but she had an exceptionally outstanding presence.
The group took their seats. The man and woman sat on the left side of the table, while Hammer and Stark sat on the right, leaving the middle seats empty.
"Hey, where's the last one?" Stark asked impatiently. "You guys said you'd found a master."
"Mr. Stark, Mr. Link has been here for a while." The manager gestured, and only then did Stark see Link, who was holding a bottle of bourbon and had a half-smoked cigar in his mouth.
Cigars burn very slowly, and you savor their aroma, so naturally you smoke them slowly as well.
Link walked over, and a bunny girl placed an ashtray in front of him. Link sat down in the middle.
He began by saying, "Mr. Tony Stark and Mr. Justin Hammer, I don't know these two, but you can tell from their demeanor that they are quite wealthy. I am the poorest person here."
"Five million dollars is a small amount for them, which is not fair."
The manager smiled and said, "Let me introduce you all. This is Mr. Klin. In just a few days, he won five million dollars with three hundred dollars. He is a master of psychology."
"Mr. Lin, let me introduce the other two guests: this is Mr. Wilson Fisk, and Mrs. Alexandra Reid!"
"This game will last four hours, with each person having five million chips. Shall we begin?"
Stark nodded and said, "Let's begin. Since there's a master here, let me see what he's made of."
Stark was a very competitive person. Link didn't say anything more. He knew that the casino was bullying him because he was outnumbered and outmatched, but it also gave him a chance.
However, Wilson Fisk's presence here surprised him. This was the future Kingpin, and the woman, he recalled, should be the boss with hands and five fingers.
This woman has lived for countless years; she's an old monster. My psychology might not be of any use here.
