Marvel: The Superman Survival Guide
Chapter 43: Beginning and End
Chapter 43: Beginning and End
"Let's begin!" Link glanced at his cards. Judging from the order in which the dealer dealt the cards, he had a strong hand, and old Antonio couldn't cheat.
It's not bad that the first round ended so quickly. Old Antonio used $100 million in cash, while Link used Stark Industries stock, which is now worth over $90 million. Adding his own cash, that's exactly $100 million.
Both sides have actually put money in, so it's good to end it in one go and secure the money.
Link didn't even bother to flip the cards. It seemed like everyone was gambling on luck, and the final outcome depended on chance. This bet involved two hundred million dollars, which was truly unimaginable.
Sure enough, Link won; he had two pairs, while Anthony had nothing.
Link laughed and said, "Looks like luck is on my side, so tonight I'm destined to be the one who goes all the way."
He turned to Gramont and asked, "How is it?"
"Okay, if you come out alive, then everything will be over, and we will compensate you with one billion US dollars." Gramont's words stunned the twelve directors. Why so much?
Link nodded slightly and said, "Not bad, your elders are wise. After all, I won, so you lost at least three hundred elites. I estimate that these were your strongest and best-equipped direct gunners."
"If we fail, the high table will be very weak. You need to be wary of your opponents. If I make another move, you might really be finished."
"However, I don't like trouble, so this result is not bad. You can hand over the ten billion US dollars to me through the casino as the funds won today, making a total of eleven billion US dollars."
Link turned to the casino manager, who immediately said, "Absolutely no problem, we'd be happy to assist you."
"Alright, just wait and see!" Link leaned back, holding a bottle of liquor, smoking a cigar, and casually swaying with his feet propped up on the gambling table.
Time seemed to pass very slowly, but Gramont had already dispatched helicopters and personnel to search the surrounding desert, but there was not a trace of anyone.
Gramont left the VIP box and waited outside for a call from the search team. He found nothing in any direction, which put him at ease. But then he felt incredulous. How could this person win?
……
As midnight struck, Link got up, grabbed his backpack, and headed outside. "Get me a full tank of gas in an off-road vehicle!"
"Okay, Mr. Lin!" A hotel SUV quickly pulled up outside the main entrance, and as Link came out, someone handed him the keys.
Link got into the car, placed his backpack on the passenger seat, checked the vehicle, and then started the engine.
He rolled down the car window, stretched out his left hand, waved it, and then stepped on the gas and drove off.
Drive along the highway towards the outskirts of the city. Once outside the city, immediately turn on your hazard lights and floor the accelerator.
Behind him followed a long convoy of over a hundred vehicles, with a helicopter also following behind.
As Link was driving, he suddenly turned the steering wheel, and the car plunged into the desert on the side of the road, heading deeper into the desert.
All the vehicles followed closely behind, forming a long line of lights. The helicopter didn't ascend too high because it was pitch black in the desert, and if Link turned off the headlights, they would instantly lose track of each other.
Link looked at the distance, driving his off-road vehicle up and down the desert. Ten kilometers was not an easy distance to reach.
However, they still had to get there. The convoy behind them had already used walkie-talkies to notify everyone to prepare for battle.
Link glanced ahead and saw the tallest sand dune, his target. He floored the accelerator and sped towards the dune.
As he passed the highest point, he turned off his hazard lights and all the headlights, and suddenly he seemed to disappear. At the same time, Link opened the car door, grabbed his backpack, and jumped out.
After landing, he turned to face the sand dune, took a deep breath, and then blew hard, "Whoosh..."
Suddenly, a strong wind blew the sand dunes, and yellow sand rushed towards the convoy behind. The helicopter suddenly encountered strong air currents and, without time to react, plunged down.
Link activated his high speed and sped off with the yellow sand. He carried the large bag on his back and took out a submachine gun, which he had obtained from Aegis.
After Link killed everyone, he still had time to get back into his SUV. He gripped the steering wheel again, and without losing control of the car, he slowly drove around in circles.
Returning now would be too shocking. He blew the sand to conceal his superpowers. No matter what equipment the other party was carrying, or even satellites in the sky, they wouldn't be able to see anything.
Link was very careful, and now he drove to a sheltered spot, lay down, and slowly fell asleep.
He didn't start the car again until his biological clock woke him up, and then headed back the way he came. When he appeared outside Las Vegas, the city was in an uproar.
Based on the principle that everything is a gamble, Las Vegas opened betting last night, with a betting pool of hundreds of people, which aroused a lot of interest. Of course, no one believed that Link could come back alive, so his odds were extremely high, ridiculously high.
However, most of them bet that Link would die, since it was free money.
When Link returned, everyone was stunned, especially the board members of the High Table. They hadn't expected it. Gramont had been calling all night, and the last news was that they were about to reach the ten-kilometer mark.
Then, no more news came back. Gramont didn't send anyone to look for him because the casino wouldn't allow it.
To prevent them from cheating, even those at the high tables must follow the rules here.
Link returned to the hotel, but seeing that there were too many people at the entrance, he immediately turned around and went into the underground parking lot. The hotel staff immediately understood, and the security guards in the underground parking lot took immediate action to prevent anyone from harassing Link.
……
The next day, Link returned to New York. When he came back, he was a real billionaire. There was some risk of exposure this time, but it wasn't a big problem. The strong wind he created and the yellow sand covering the sky had covered everything.
Link had just returned when he received a call from Phil Coulson. "Link, you're amazing!"
"Nothing surprising, just a minor conflict." Link couldn't suppress a smile. "By the way, can I have my own title now?"
"Of course, everyone outside calls you Death now!" Coulson said. "Why didn't you come to me for this?"
