Chapter 31 Let me drive the Batmobile
Does the fragrance linger on your hands?
After seeing Selena off, Connors didn't slyly put his hand under his nose to sniff.
Putting aside the fact that Batman was watching on the monitor, even if he really wanted to, he would definitely do it openly, just like when the two of them were sitting on the motorcycle, he was sucking hard on Selena's snow-white neck.
The main reason was that "Catwoman" was sweating profusely from being pointed at by so many guns, and Connors could smell her faint body fragrance as soon as he entered the room.
To his surprise, after "Catwoman" Selena was thrown into the ventilation duct, she tried to reach out and pull Connors up with her, so he pushed away the outstretched, boneless hand:
"You go first, don't worry about me."
To make the performance more convincing, after seeing Selena off, Connors hummed a tune as he prepared to return to the Batcave.
But his spider-sense allows him to always detect things invisible to the naked eye, such as someone watching him from outside in the corridor.
It's not Batman, nor Catwoman, and the danger signals aren't strong.
Connors walked to the window in the corridor, opened it, and looked out. He could only see a small black shadow tumbling and leaping on the outer wall of Wayne Manor, like an acrobat.
That's Dick Grayson?
The future young master is only eight years old now, and he has just been adopted by Batman. According to the plot, Grayson will have to run away several times before he can officially train with Batman.
Ignoring him, Connors continued toward the elevator and into the Bat Cave.
Bruce Wayne had turned off the surveillance cameras, and the computer desktops were now displayed on the large screens.
The computer's operating system is certainly different from those on the market, but it is indeed the computer desktop.
"I already know that you went to sleep at Arkham Asylum yesterday."
Back at the Batcave, Lord Wayne's first words nearly made Connors faint. He had clearly gone there to cause trouble, although he had ultimately accelerated his plans with the help of Harley Quinn.
But how come it seems like Lord Wayne and the butler are treating Arkham like a 7 Days Inn?
"Do you know what the Joker is planning?" Connors asked.
"I don't know yet, but I'll recover soon. Although I won't be able to fully recover, dealing with the Joker shouldn't be a problem," Bruce Wayne said.
Just as Harley Quinn accelerated the Joker's plans, perhaps I can also speed up the progress of "The Man Who Laughs"...
An idea popped into Connors' mind, and he said to Lord Wayne:
"It's okay, I know his plan, but you might not believe me, so I won't tell you."
He wanted to find an opportunity to send Batman to Arkham Asylum directly, so that the Joker wouldn't have to cause any more trouble, and the "Man Who Laughs" incident would be completed in one go.
But this couldn't be said as casually as when discussing the theft of artwork; Connors still had to carefully consider his words.
Bruce Wayne: "I can handle the Joker, but I have something else I'd like to ask you."
Connors asked curiously, "What's wrong? Don't you have any other options? I might not help, but I can definitely go and watch the show."
"." No matter how abstract the Riddler's answer is, or how annoying the Joker's pranks are, Batman has never been as speechless as he is now.
"Only you can do this right now."
In most movies, after someone says this line, the person being referred to is very likely to die a horrible death. Connors instinctively wanted to refuse, but couldn't suppress his curiosity:
"What is it? Stop with the riddle."
'......
"Can 'Riddler' be an adjective?" Bruce Wayne was speechless again. "I need you to keep an eye on Dick Grayson for me."
"He just went out. If you want me to bring him back, I can borrow the Batmobile," Connors said.
This time, Bruce Wayne didn't follow up on Connors's words, but instead spoke on his own:
"Just a few days ago, Dick had loving parents, a glorious life as a circus trapeze artist—admiring audiences cheered his name."
"But now he is an orphan."
Connors stopped talking; he knew this wasn't the time to continue joking.
"Every aspect of his life was suddenly changed, and this change prompted him to change as well."
"But I am very clear that no matter what kind of trauma he has suffered, he must stand firm in himself and protect the remnants of his inner self."
"Otherwise, Gotham will turn him into something even worse."
Connors nodded:
"I see."
"—What do you understand?" Bruce Wayne couldn't help but want to cover his forehead.
Connors smiled and said:
"Dick Grayson will become a hero like you. And I won't let him go down the other way."
This time, Bruce Wayne's silence was not due to being speechless, but because Connors called his "vigilante" actions "heroic," and he was momentarily unable to understand Connors.
"Is there anything else? I need to go check on Robin."
Seeing that Mr. Wayne hadn't spoken, Connors urged him on.
"Who is Robin?" Lord Wayne asked, bewildered.
"That's Dick Grayson's nickname; that's what his mother often called him," Connors explained.
Although according to the plot, Dick Grayson was destined to become Batman's "Robin," because he revealed this beforehand, the gossip system immediately provided the answer:
[Today's Gossip: Batman and Robin]
[Submit or not?]
After glancing at the system, Connors, seeing that Lord Wayne wasn't trying to stop him, headed towards the elevator, then stopped before entering:
"Wayne, bro."
"..." Alfred, the butler in the elevator, and Bruce Wayne in the Batcave were both speechless.
Batman spoke first:
"What is it?"
Connors, shameless as ever, said:
"The supercar Alfred lent me last time has been lost. Could I borrow your Batmobile for a spin?"
"So it was lost. I thought Master Paterson liked the freedom of the air." Alfred's first words were still teasing Connors, referring to his motorcycle ride there earlier that day.
"Alfred, give him the keys to my car with the recently modified engine." The wealthy Bruce Wayne's words were anything but ordinary.
Humming a song by Phoenix Legend, Connors stepped on the gas and, amidst the roar of the modified engine, took out a phone that Alfred had casually given him.
As a modern person, it's hard to imagine not having a single electronic device on your body.
So, Connors, who had his first cell phone since arriving in this world, dialed the private number that Xuexi had mentioned to him before.
On the other end of the phone, superstar Xuexi cheered excitedly, beckoning Connors to the hotel to guide her through the mystery.
And there was also some good news:
"Things with the circus have been a bit unexpected. To bring performances back to my supporters, there will be a large-scale magic show tomorrow, still in the stadium!"
"And the performer is a very mysterious and beautiful woman!"
A magic show? In a stadium again? Is the magician a beautiful woman?
Connors had a subconscious feeling that something was about to happen again. He remembered that before he went to see "Catwoman" Selena, Harley Quinn had also said that she would perform a "magic trick".
Surely this crazy little idiot can't be the one performing magic tricks, can he?
