Hogwarts: The Witch Education Handbook
Chapter 49 McGonagall, blushing with embarrassment
The day before Christmas.
The auditorium was decorated beautifully and magnificently.
The walls were covered with cascading ribbons of holly and mistletoe, and twelve towering Christmas trees stood all around, some adorned with glittering icicles and others sparkling with hundreds of candles.
Hagrid played a major role in this, dragging tree after tree from the hunting grounds to the castle from morning till night, making twelve round trips in total.
"Oh, Hagrid, could you please move that Christmas tree to that corner over there?" Sean asked Hagrid.
At this moment, he is busy with Christmas decorations with Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick.
Sean deftly waved his wand, spraying out strings of golden bubbles that floated in the air before he carefully hung them on the branches of the newly moved Christmas tree, adding a unique touch to the holiday decorations.
Just as busy as him were the three little ones fighting the wizard in the audience below the stage.
To be precise, it was just Harry and Ron.
Why didn't you come home for Christmas?
“The plans have changed. My parents have decided to go to Romania to see my brother Charlie,” Ron replied. “He’s studying dragons there.”
“Very good, then you can assist Harry.” Hermione paused, then continued, “He’s going to the library to look for information about Nicolas Flamel.”
"We've searched a hundred times already." Ron sighed helplessly, his brow furrowing slightly, his tone tinged with impatience.
Indeed, ever since Hagrid let it slip, the three of them had been searching for Flamel's name in the book, and apart from that, they had no other way of knowing what Snape had stolen.
But what's more troublesome is that they don't know what outstanding achievements Nicolas Flamel has that could be written into the book, so it's hard to know where to start. He's not in "The Great Wizards of the Twentieth Century" or "The Directory of Famous Wizards of Our Time".
Furthermore, his name cannot be found in "Major Discoveries in Modern Magic" or "Studies on the Development of Modern Witchcraft".
Moreover, the sheer size of the library's collection is daunting, with thousands of books, thousands of bookshelves, and hundreds of narrow passageways.
"But we've never been to the restricted area to look for it." With that, Hermione grabbed the two of them and headed towards the library.
"It seems she's gone astray by following us."
Five minutes later, when the three arrived at the library, Hermione pulled a list from her pocket, outlining the topics and titles of the books she had decided to look up.
After another fruitless search, the three exchanged a glance and quietly moved toward the forbidden book section. However, just as they were about to step onto that damned rope...
Mrs. Pince suddenly appeared.
She looked at them sternly. "What are you looking for, child?"
Harry was momentarily speechless and could only vaguely reply, "It's nothing."
Mrs. Pince clearly didn't believe their story, and just as she was about to use a feather duster to chase them out, her gaze fell on Hermione behind the two boys.
Her gaze softened. "I remember you. You're Miss Granger, right? The one who often came to the library with Professor Sean in the mornings."
Hermione pushed aside the two little ones blocking her way, nodded, and obediently replied, "Yes, Mrs. Pince."
Mrs. Pince smiled slightly. "Since you are Professor Sean's students, I believe you won't cause trouble here. However, students are not allowed to enter the restricted area without a note signed by the professor."
"Yes, Mrs. Pince."
After Mrs. Pince left, Harry and Ron looked at each other in bewilderment.
What to do? With Mrs. Pince guarding the area, they have no way of getting even a step into the restricted section.
Then the two of them turned their heads toward Hermione.
Hermione understood the look in their eyes. "Okay, okay, I'll go see Professor Sean for approval this afternoon."
But by the afternoon, Hermione had searched the entire Hogwarts but couldn't find Professor Sean. She didn't see him again until dinner that evening.
The three little ones sat around the long table, waiting for the dinner to begin.
Harry had never attended a Christmas feast like this in his life. A hundred plump roast turkeys, mountains of roast meat and boiled potatoes, platters of delicious sausages, bowls of peas with butter, and dishes of thick gravy and cranberry sauce—every few steps from the table, there were piles of wizarding firecrackers waiting for you.
These wonderful colorful firecrackers were nothing like the shabby Muggle firecrackers that the Dursleys usually bought, which contained only small plastic toys and flimsy paper hats.
Harry and Fred drew a firecracker together. Instead of a muffled bang, it exploded like a cannon blast, engulfing them in a cloud of blue smoke. At the same time, a naval admiral's hat and several lively white mice burst out of it.
At the head table, Dumbledore swapped his pointed wizard hat for a women's hat adorned with flowers. Professor Flitwick had just told him a joke, and he chuckled happily.
After the turkey came the bright red Christmas pudding. Percy's pudding contained a silver scimitar, which nearly broke his teeth.
Harry watched as Hagrid kept asking for drinks, his face growing redder and redder, until finally he kissed Professor McGonagall on the cheek.
To Harry's surprise, Professor McGonagall chuckled, blushed, and her top black hat tilted to one side.
Of course, the handsome couple, Professor Sean and Professor Tonks, are also hard to ignore.
Professor Sean was whispering something in Tonks's ear, and barely ate anything at the sumptuous dinner.
When Harry left the table, he was carrying a large pile of things that had popped out of the firecrackers, including a bag of non-exploding flashing balloons and a small device that mimicked a tumor.
Harry had a very uneasy feeling that the mice were gone, and he suspected that they had all ended up as Mrs. Lorris's Christmas dinner.
After the dinner party ended, Sean took Tonks's arm and they returned to his office.
The two chatted and laughed about the interesting things that had happened in the past few days, and the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant.
"Merry Christmas, senior." Tonks offered her blessing first, then blinked her big eyes and looked at Sean curiously, "What is the mysterious Christmas gift you said you had carefully prepared for me at the dinner party?"
Sean smiled mysteriously.
Then he took out an exquisite gift box from under the desk and handed it to Tonks. "Open it and take a look."
Tonks gently opened the gift box, and a blush rose on her face when she saw the contents.
