Chapter 26 Miller's Stunned
After the massacre, looking at the people groaning on the ground, the clone's face showed obvious displeasure. Clearly, the damage caused by the glass shards was not satisfactory to him, and he was preparing to go back and have that useless main body replace the rabbit talisman.
He then controlled his body and left the venue. As soon as he came out, he saw a helicopter appear near the venue. His clone clearly saw a reporter inside talking to a camera.
The clone laughed, saying that this was truly the United States, as the reporters arrived faster than the military and police once again.
He reached out and grabbed the helicopter, opening the slightly ajar door. He then forced the reporters and cameras inside to his presence. Upon seeing this, the pilot flew the helicopter away without looking back.
The reporter, who had been poised and confident in front of the camera, was now screaming wildly. The clone looked disgusted, and the female reporter fell straight down from the sky.
The camera was directed towards the direction where the female reporter had fallen. She seemed to be barely alive, but it was estimated she would spend the rest of her life in a hospital. Suddenly, a mechanical foot appeared in the frame, and the female reporter was crushed into a pulp by that foot.
Only then did the clone begin to examine these mech soldiers who had been single-mindedly chasing Tony Stark.
At this point, the mech soldiers below had given up chasing Stark and began a frenzied slaughter within their line of sight.
This killing efficiency is much higher than that of a person's height.
Inside the control room, Natasha grabbed Justin Hammer by the collar, lifted him up, and demanded, "What's going on with these mech soldiers?"
Justin Hammer wondered, "Wasn't he being controlled by that masked monster?"
Natasha stared speechlessly at Justin Hammer in front of her. As an experienced agent, she couldn't tell for a moment whether he was faking it or genuinely stupid.
The monitoring personnel in the control room were also puzzled, because they shared the same thought as Justin Hammer, since they had actually seen the clone snap his fingers while they were in the control room.
An operator pulled up the surveillance video of Miller snapping his fingers, which clearly showed that it was this snap that caused the mech soldiers to become uncontrollable.
Although Natasha was confused, she put down Justin Hammer, who, after tidying himself up, didn't bother arguing with Natasha.
But Natasha wouldn't let Justin Hammer off the hook, raising the biggest question: if this masked mystery man could control Justin Hammer's company's Jaegers, why didn't he control Tony Stark's Jaegers?
One of the operators blurted out, "Could it be because Mr. Stark's skills are better, and the masked Mysterio actually tried to manipulate him but failed?"
This might be the only reasonable explanation.
At Hammer Industries, Ivan Vanko was so engrossed in watching the mech soldiers who had completely lost control that the toothpick he was holding almost fell out of his mouth.
As a mecha designer, he was well aware that the mecha soldiers were now completely out of his control, as if they had their own lives.
The clones looked at the mech soldiers below and began to ponder their behavior. Their initial pursuit of Iron Man was likely because their creators had made them to target or eliminate Iron Man.
So the moment they were activated, their first target was Iron Man, but now, as time goes by, these mech soldiers, who are constantly learning and growing in the network, seem to have the same idea as Ultron.
"Human beings are evil, and all human beings should be destroyed."
While being chased by Air Force mechs, Tony saw that the mechs had stopped chasing him and were instead slaughtering the crowd. He cursed incessantly and had no choice but to turn around and use a disposable laser weapon to shoot them down one by one. However, before they died, the mechs triggered their self-destruct devices, directly damaging half a block and causing heavy civilian casualties.
Tony didn't have time to rescue them, so he turned around and went back to Stark Industries Expo Center, since Pepper was still there.
The first thing Tony saw upon arriving was that despicable figure watching the show from the sky.
Tony immediately launched a fire attack on the figure, but it was easily blocked by the clone.
Looking at the Iron Man in front of him, the clone's face flashed with excitement, and with a wave of his hand, he slammed him into the ground.
"Sir, according to the data, there is a 95% chance that the person in front of you is Dr. Miller."
Tony, slammed to the ground, stared in disbelief. "Are you sure? That thing is that Dr. Scrooge? Jarvis, call Dr. Scrooge!"
"Mr. Stark, is there anything I can help you with?" Miller's voice came through the helmet after the call connected.
Tony tried to create distance between himself and the masked man, but to no avail; his armor was once again swatted away. "Are you in...New York...?"
"Is your signal bad? I'm in New York right now... attending a dinner party at a hotel. Is something urgent?" Miller on the phone seemed completely unaware of what was happening in New York at that moment.
Tony told Jarvis to quickly find the source of the signal. "You...watch...TV yourself!"
"Wait a moment... Sir, may I borrow the television?" Miller's voice could be clearly heard asking someone else over the phone.
"Of course." Tony seemed to recognize the voice.
"My God? What's going on? Sir, turn on the TV!"
"What's wrong, Dr. Miller?" Tony's familiar voice rang out again. "My God, what the hell is this now? What's going on in America lately?"
"Mr. Stark? Are you still there? If you'd like to receive treatment after the fight, you can come directly to my house. Remember to transfer the payment to my account in advance, Mr. Stark?" Clearly, Tony had already hung up the phone.
"Jarvis?"
"According to the surveillance footage, Dr. Miller was indeed in the hotel at that time. Therefore, the person in front of you is very likely Dr. Miller's twin brother or clone. According to previous records, Dr. Miller does not have a twin brother..."
"Jarvis!" Tony interrupted Jarvis's analysis. "You need to figure out a way to get me out of his control first. We can analyze my identity later."
"...Jarvis?"
"...Insufficient data to draw a conclusion."
"..."
Seeing that he couldn't break through Tony Stark's defenses, the clone got annoyed and simply tossed Tony next to a mech soldier, letting them take their time to fight him.
Looking at New York, which had fallen into complete chaos, the satisfied clone controlled itself to gradually disappear.
He seemed to sense that a hateful bald woman was looking at him.
Knowing that he was still just a nobody in front of this bald woman, he had no intention of getting beaten up.
