Chapter 12 Bruce Banner and the Hulk
Bruce Banner, a renowned former military scientist, owns his own laboratory within the military and holds seven doctoral degrees in fields such as biology and chemistry. His assistant and girlfriend, Betty, is not only beautiful but also comes from a prominent family.
It's fair to say that Bruce Banner is a complete winner in life.
Until an accident occurred during an experiment, another person appeared inside his body—no, it should be called a monster.
The monster wreaked havoc in the laboratory the moment it was born, injuring Bruce Banner's girlfriend, Betty. It then engaged in a fierce battle with the arriving soldiers, causing heavy casualties, but emerged unscathed.
Afterwards, Betty's father, General Ross, took over the laboratory and witnessed the power of the green monster from the undisturbed surveillance footage.
So when Bruce Banner woke up again, he found himself a wanted criminal.
Bruce Banner, familiar with the military's modus operandi, knew the consequences of returning to surrender, so he left the United States and began living in an assumed name.
But soon, Bruce Banner discovered that if he became angry, the monster inside him would begin to take over his body.
The appearance of this monster would inevitably cause massive destruction, forcing Bruce Banner to flee once again.
This time he came to a small town in Brazil.
Having learned his lesson, Bruce Banner made himself a watch that could monitor his heart rate at all times to track his emotions and learned various skills to calm himself down.
However, it is difficult for someone with no identity documents, no money, and extremely high moral character to live peacefully in any town.
Bruce Banner endured being humiliated by local thugs, endured having his month's wages stolen by them, and endured seeing his female colleague, who had expressed affection for him, about to be bullied by several thugs. But when he saw this, Bruce Banner could no longer endure it.
Soon, a three-meter-tall green monster appeared on the street, and everyone screamed and scattered. The green monster ignored everyone else, and after beating the thugs who had tried to bully Bruce Banner's female colleague, it began to wreak havoc on the town. When the local police arrived, they found only a scene of utter devastation.
After regaining control of his body, Bruce Banner quickly returned to his rented apartment, hurriedly dressed, packed his luggage, and disguised himself, preparing for his next escape.
Upon receiving news of the Hulk's reappearance, the U.S. military immediately dispatched personnel to Bruce Banner's location in an attempt to capture him, conduct research, and try to replicate more Hulks.
Before Bruce Banner, disguised, could leave the town, US military helicopters arrived and completely sealed off the town.
Bruce Banner could only grumble inwardly that the monster had wasted too much time.
But suddenly, another voice came from the depths of my heart.
"Hulk is not a monster, Hulk is Hulk."
Bruce Banner suddenly opened his eyes wide, trying to communicate with the voice in his mind.
"Who do you say you are?"
"Hulk!"
Why are you inside my body?
"Hulk doesn't know!"
"Can you get out of my body?"
"Hulk doesn't know!"
"Do you want to leave my body?"
"Hulk, Hulk doesn't understand."
"It means that you and I will both be two independent individuals. I don't need to worry about suddenly being cheated on, and you will gain your freedom!"
"Freedom? Freedom! Hulk wants freedom!"
"Can you cooperate with me, Hulk?"
"Cooperate?"
"Just listen to me and we'll achieve our goals." After realizing that Hulk's intelligence was about the same as a child's, Bruce Banner adopted the same attitude he would have towards a child.
"Hulk, cooperate with Banner!" Hearing the words from the Hulk inside him, Bruce Banner felt relieved, but soon, he tensed up again. Because he saw the familiar U.S. military uniform.
As Bruce Banner watched a group of U.S. soldiers approaching him, he lowered his head, turned and walked in the opposite direction from them, praying that his disguise would work.
Although Bruce Banner's face was almost unrecognizable after more than a hundred days of torture, and after some disguise, he was almost unrecognizable as Bruce Banner, there was one problem he never realized.
That was him, who was, or always has been, a scholar, with an innate refined temperament. His outward appearance was characterized by clean and proper attire. He was not particularly noticeable in the university and laboratory, but this was a slum in Brazil!
Incidentally, it was precisely because of his incongruity with the local community that he attracted the attention of many petty thugs.
This demeanor allowed the US military squad to immediately notice Bruce Banner's unusual behavior, and the squad leader ordered Bruce Banner to stop and undergo inspection.
Bruce Banner stopped in his tracks instinctively.
This pause, however, confirmed to the US military team that Bruce Banner was suspicious. They were speaking English, and Bruce Banner understood them.
After all, in a Portuguese-speaking country that is close to the United States, someone who can speak English shouldn't end up like Bruce Banner.
Realizing he had been exposed, Bruce Banner silently prayed to himself: Hulk, come out.
"Hulk!"
The American squad was horrified to discover that Bruce Banner's body was gradually turning green and growing stronger and taller, tearing through his clothes and pants until he was left with only a pair of custom-made underwear.
The green monster has reappeared in this town.
Seeing this, the US troops began firing wildly, but the bullets hit Hulk without causing any pain. Hulk faced the bullets head-on and instantly knocked down the enemy in front of him.
The commotion quickly attracted the main force of the US military, but they were no match for Hulk. They were all easily defeated by Hulk.
After Hulk completely defeated all the American soldiers who came to the town, he ran towards the laboratory following Bruce Banner's instructions.
After Hulk went far away, Emil Bronsky, who had the same face as The Pianist 1900, struggled to his feet and reported Hulk's direction to his superior, General Ross.
General Ross, looking at the map in the command room, realized that the green monster's target was Bruce Banner's former laboratory.
After comforting Emil Bronsky, he immediately contacted the troops and began to lay a trap in the direction Hulk was heading. At the same time, scenes of Hulk defeating the troops kept flashing through his mind, and his eyes gradually reddened.
I don't know if it was because of the death of his subordinates or because of... greed.
