Chapter 10 The Birth of Iron Man
Miller, arriving at Stark's house again, looked at Obadiah lying on the hospital bed, barely alive, and then at Iron Man, whose face was pale. Curious, he asked, "If I'm not mistaken, that commotion outside New York just now was caused by the two of you, right? You were fighting like that, and you still paid for my treatment? What were you thinking?"
Tony Stark remained silent, only continuing to give money.
Seeing the $200 million that had just arrived in his account, Miller raised his hand to his mouth and made a zipping motion before immediately preparing for surgery.
During his surgery, Tony Stark stayed by his side closely, seemingly wanting to understand exactly how Miller achieved such amazing treatment results.
But right before his eyes, Miller used the most ordinary, even clumsy, surgical techniques to completely revive Obadiah, who was on the verge of death.
When Obadiah opened his eyes, Tony Stark walked up to him, ignoring Miller who was still present, and immediately began to question Obadiah about his reasons for doing so.
Obadiah, on the other hand, was clearly more curious about his own physical condition.
"Tony, how did you do that? I feel like I'm in better shape than ever before."
Miller, who was still standing to the side, subconsciously handed over his business card.
Looking at the business card in his hand, Obadiah smiled slightly at Miller. Clearly, anyone would have enough respect for a doctor like Miller who could pull them back from the brink of death.
Apart from Tony Stark.
Tony Stark pulled Miller off the hospital bed and asked his question again.
Logically, Miller should have wisely left at this point. But he was curious too.
Faced with Miller, who was clearly looking for a show, Tony Stark frowned deeply but didn't try to shoo him away. After all, Miller's medical skills were simply too miraculous, and even the usually arrogant Tony Stark had to give him that face.
Obadiah shook his head and said to Tony Stark, "Tony, you know what? You're becoming more and more like your father. Equally awful personalities, never respecting anyone. You're both complete bastards! I've always managed Stark Industries; I'm the biggest contributor. But whether it's you or your father, as long as you're around, nobody cares about me, no matter how much of a bastard you are!"
"Just for this reason, you want to kill me? Uncle Obadiah?" Tony, completely unable to accept this reason, walked straight out of the ward.
Miller, who was openly eavesdropping nearby, also couldn't understand Obadiah's thoughts.
Tony considers you his only elder! You are also his father's only friend. He left you with a son and a world-class company to look after. After you raised his son, you felt that he was becoming more and more like that friend you could never catch up with. Instead of feeling gratified, you thought about sending someone to kill him?
Who is this person?
When Miller first watched this part of the story, he wondered what the villain was after. Throughout the entire movie, Tony Stark only trusted three people: Pepper Potts, his friend Colonel Rhodes, and Obadiah. In fact, Obadiah was the one who managed the entire Stark Industries.
He painstakingly created a shoddy mech, the overall structure of which was built by Stark using scrap metal in Afghanistan, and the energy was directly stolen from Stark.
Given Obadiah's relationship with Tony Stark, if Obadiah communicated properly with Stark, considering the way Tony Stark built War Machine for Rhodes, Pepper Potts, and Spider-Man, Stark might actually build a custom-made Jaeger for Obadiah!
Obadiah, this villain, really squandered a winning hand.
Miller shook his head and walked out of the ward. As soon as he stepped outside, he saw a dejected Iron Man.
At this moment, Tony Stark was leaning weakly against the sofa in the living room, motionless.
Miller sighed and sat down opposite Tony Stark.
"Mr. Stark, I think you need a listener right now."
Tony Stark looked up at Miller, who, despite not being a psychiatrist, easily saw the words "Get out" in his eyes.
Although Stark's attitude was terrible, Miller decided not to argue with him because he was his biggest client. He got up, dusted himself off, and prepared to go inside.
After Miller left, silence fell once again over the Stark household.
Much later.
"...Jarvis, do you really think Uncle Obadiah is that kind of person? In my memory, Uncle Obadiah would take the initiative to solve all kinds of troubles for me after my parents died. When I first developed a new type of weapon, Uncle Obadiah was so proud of me... You could say that after my parents died, he was the one who held up the sky for me. He was almost my only family."
"Sir, human beings are complex."
"Yes, people are complicated...? So what do you think I should do with Uncle Obadiah, Jarvis?"
"I don't know, sir. Would you like me to call Ms. Pepper for you?"
"No need, Jarvis, let me make the choice myself."
...
The following day, at a press conference held by Stark Industries.
Faced with the author's various questions about last night's explosion, Tony Stark glanced at the speech provided by Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D., hesitated for a moment, then stuffed the speech into his pocket, choosing to admit that he was Iron Man and that he had fought a thief who stole Stark's secrets last night. He then left the excited reporters at the press conference.
Subsequently, Stark Industries announced a personnel appointment, with former president Obadiah choosing to retire due to age.
After retiring, Obadiah sold all his shares in Stark Industries to Tony Stark at market price.
Tony Stark now personally controls an astonishing 75.4% of the company's stock.
Meanwhile, Stark himself will become the new president of Stark Industries.
After Tony Stark officially took office as president of Stark Industries, he announced that Stark Industries was about to enter the clean energy industry and released the research results of the Arc Reactor.
The result of this series of news in the financial markets was a surge in Stark Industries' stock price.
Miller, who once spent $200 million to buy Stark stock, can now make nearly ten times the profit by selling it.
Miller's financial advisor, Mr. Weill, had gone completely mad, wildly praising Miller's astute investment acumen. He was certain that handling this investment would make him famous overnight.
Meanwhile, Miller was looking at the more than two hundred million US dollars lying in his account, his heart aching with pain.
Miller strongly suspected that Tony Stark released this series of news so quickly because he was afraid that Miller would use the money he gave him to buy Stark Industries stock again.
