Chapter 83 The Little Dog That Sneaked into Slytherin

More than a month later, just as everyone's excitement about the start of school had worn off, the approaching Quidditch season reignited their enthusiasm.

Wood, the captain of the Gryffindor team, called a meeting with the entire team one night to discuss tactics for the new season.

Harry said that Wood delivered an unprecedentedly moving speech, which unusually moved George and Fred to tears. Everyone comforted Wood and expressed their determination to win the Quidditch trophy.

Therefore, the Gryffindor team began training three times a week without fail—no matter how cold and damp the weather was, no matter how much mud and rain there was, nothing could shake the team's firm belief in winning the championship.

Every time the twins and Harry finished training, they were all exhausted and cold, their bodies stiff from the autumn evening breeze.

As a good friend and product development partner, Lyra could only meet with the twins on weekends to do experiments. Weekday evenings when they weren't training were the time for the two of them to frantically catch up on their homework.

Following the recent success of their frog and train-themed gummies, the trio continues to develop a series of animal-shaped products. They are currently preparing to create a custard cookie that, when eaten, transforms the user into a large canary, after which the effect lasts for a limited time before returning to normal.

However, the arduous Quidditch training meant that most of the research and development work for the Canary Cookies fell to Lyra, which meant that Lyra had never been able to watch the twins train.

On Wednesday evening, after recording the results of the 17th experiment with the canary cookies, Leila realized it was still early, so on a whim, she took some chocolate finger biscuits to the stadium to visit the team.

Unexpectedly, they were met with ruthless obstruction.

“No.” Wood said firmly, frowning. “We are conducting new tactical training, and watching is prohibited. Anyone could be a spy trying to find out about our new training program.”

Lyra: "..."

“Hey, don’t be so heartless, Wood. Lyra is from Gryffindor too, she can’t be a spy.” George hovered around Lyra on his broomstick.

“Besides, Lyra isn’t an outsider; she’s basically an unofficial member of the team,” Fred said, climbing off the broom and deftly pulling out the chocolate finger biscuits from Lyra’s clothes, immediately starting to eat them. “Maybe we could recruit Lyra as an assistant or something, to help record training progress, tidy up the equipment, bring everyone snacks, and so on—”

When Lyra heard Fred mention hiring her as an assistant to record training progress, she turned and left. His subsequent comments about packing up equipment and bringing snacks only hastened her departure.

Are you kidding me! Look at the miserable state of the twins and Harry after training every day. How could she be so desperate to become this unfortunate team assistant, shivering on the sidelines on the field every day while having to concentrate intensely to record each player's training progress?

Lyra, who was running at top speed, didn't see Wood's rather tempted expression. She ran all the way to the vicinity of the castle gate before slowing down.

"Meow—" Lyra thought it was Lady Lorris, but when she turned her head, she saw a patch of ginger yellow, which was Hermione's Crook Hill.

“Oh, it’s you, Crookshan,” Lyra stopped, wanting to pat its head, but then noticed a pair of large black ears peeking out from the grass behind it—

"Knight!" Lyra exclaimed in surprise.

The big black dog twitched its ears, jumped out of the bushes, circled around Lyra, and then walked over to the ginger cat.

"So you two know each other," Leila said happily, petting the cat with her left hand and the dog with her right. "Are you friends?"

The ginger-colored cat purred under Leila's expert petting technique, while the large black dog casually wagged its tail in acknowledgment.

"That's great! Next time, I'll introduce my Bell to you too!" Lyra was about to introduce her swallowtail dog to them when suddenly footsteps sounded nearby. A cat and a dog nimbly jumped into the bushes and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

"Alright, I guess I'll have to introduce it next time." Layla stood up regretfully, climbed the steps, and entered the castle.

On her way to visit the stadium, Lyra woke up in her empty dorm room after sleeping all afternoon.

The puppy stretched on the bed, then jumped off and ate the half-eaten dog food Lyra had left for it. Not feeling aggrieved at only being half-full, the puppy skipped and hopped out of the dormitory and out of the Gryffindor common room.

Theodore Nott was reading in the Slytherin common room, while Pansy and Daphne sat around him chatting with Blaise about last year's Halloween. Draco casually chimed in occasionally.

“Oh, Theodore, your little dog is back.” Daphne spotted a swallowtail dog following Goyle and Crabbe, expertly navigating into the Slytherin common room.

The puppy entered the lounge and quickly spotted Theodore Nott in the crowd. It nimbly weaved through the people and soon ran up to Theodore, wagging its tail enthusiastically. Its fawning manner made anyone who saw it realize how deeply the puppy loved its owner.

"Why are you here so early today?" Theodore silently closed the book in his hand as soon as he saw the swallow-tailed dog. He looked at his pocket watch and found that he had come in much earlier than the dog usually did.

That's right. Ever since Swallowtail sneaked out to play and met Theodore Nott, who was out for a walk, it has frequently come to Slytherin to play with him, freeloading on food, drinks, and lodging. This has led all the Slytherin students to misunderstand and think that Swallowtail is Theodore Nott's new pet.

Fortunately, his Samoyeds stayed at the manor; otherwise, those two unruly puppies would have turned Hogwarts upside down. Theodore was secretly relieved.

"Woof~" the puppy tried its best to express its grievances about being forced to lose weight.

"Are you hungry?" Given that he also had a ten-pound dog at home, eight pounds of which were clever and cunning, Theodore was able to accurately understand the puppy's true intentions.

As Theodore was about to take the puppy back to his dorm and privately continue to ask why its real owner was withholding its food, several girls sitting near him had already been captivated by the swallowtail's adorable appearance. They took out cookies, cakes, beef jerky, and other food from their snack plates and eagerly fed the puppy.

"..." Theodore felt that this little dog didn't need to keep chasing after him to fleece him; it could have made a living by being cute with any girl.
