Struggling to survive at Hogwarts
Chapter 24 Closeness and Distance
Draco: "!!!"
Draco decides to retract his earlier assessment of Thea!
She actually said a Malfoy is cute?!
You should know that after he turned six, no one dared to use the word "cute" to describe him anymore!
Sure enough, older sisters are such annoying creatures!!!
Draco stormed off to the table.
"Even if I'm angry, I can't let it interfere with my meal!" Draco thought angrily as he bit into his bread.
Watching his "older sister" eat slowly and deliberately across from him, Draco sped up his eating and tried to finish all her food, to show her who really was in charge!
Thea wasn't unaware of Draco's overly "intense" gaze, but she didn't want to pay attention to the young master. She was focused on eating breakfast; she had too much going on yesterday, and she had eaten breakfast a little late this morning, so she was starving.
Dorothea vs. Draco, Round 1, Dorothea wins.
After the PK this morning, the young master, having learned his lesson, decided to approach the situation from a different angle. He looked at the white peacock outside the window, his eyes darting around, and then he came up with his next idea.
Draco wandered around the living room and garden until sweat beaded on his forehead before Narcissa, who had watched the spectacle, called out to him, "Draco, what are you doing? Why are you running around like that?"
"...Mom, I'm looking for Thea." Draco was really going all out for his "grand plan."
Narcissa smiled as she saw her son's face full of "enduring humiliation," and quickly said, "Thea is on the small balcony on the second floor." She spoke a little fast because she was afraid she would burst out laughing.
Draco looked at his mother with some surprise, but the tip of his ear turned red when he thought that Thea might have seen him running around like a fool on the balcony.
Draco stood outside the balcony door, hesitated for a long time before knocking, and only after hearing a "Come in" from inside did he carefully push the door open.
But he quickly realized: This is my home, I can do whatever I want! So… he stared at the door, debating whether or not to slam it shut…
"Draco? What are you doing? Why don't you come in?" Thea's questioning voice came, instantly dispelling the young master's worries.
Draco tried to maintain his expressionless face, attempting to make Thea realize that he was not someone to be trifled with, so that she wouldn't use the word "cute" to describe him.
Thea didn't get his meaning. Looking at the boy's chubby face, Thea tried hard to restrain her urge to pinch it. She finally understood why Aunt Narcissa always wanted to pinch her face.
Seeing that the girl was stunned by him and remained silent for a while, Draco pressed his advantage, saying, "Are you really my cousin? I've never seen you before."
“I used to live in London, and I only arrived at Malfoy Manor yesterday,” Thea said honestly. “Your house is beautiful.”
Hearing others praise his family, Draco's mood instantly improved. He felt that this "cousin" at least had good taste.
"I heard from Aunt Cici that if you behave well lately, she might buy you a Comet 260!" Seeing Draco's smug expression, Thea unleashed her ultimate move.
"What?! Mom's going to buy me a Comet 260!!"
Draco was momentarily surprised, but he quickly recovered, "How did you know?"
Of course I know, because that flying broom is in my closet right now!
"I wrote it down because Aunt Xixi mentioned it by chance last night."
"By the way, Draco, what is Quidditch? Aunt Cici mentioned it last night," Thea asked, feigning curiosity.
"What? You don't even know what Quidditch is?" Draco was utterly astonished. There was actually someone in the world who didn't know what Quidditch was!
Draco's dissatisfaction with Thea this morning has now completely turned into sympathy and pity. He wonders where Thea grew up and how she doesn't even know Quidditch.
Draco had already forgotten the question he had asked at the beginning; he was now giving this "poor little guy" a lesson on Quidditch.
At least I won't let her embarrass the Malfoy family! Draco thought to himself, trying to deceive himself.
“…Quidditch is the most interesting sport in the world…” Narcissa quietly pushed open the door and saw Draco with his back to her, passionately explaining Quidditch to Thea. Thea occasionally chimed in, which fueled Draco’s enthusiasm for speaking.
Thea met Narcissa's gaze, her eyebrows curving slightly as she gave Narcissa a reassuring look. Narcissa smiled back and then quietly closed the door.
By the time Draco drank his second glass of water, his throat dry from talking, Thea's notes were already two full pages, all filled with Quidditch knowledge.
Seeing that Draco's eyes were almost closed, Thea felt a pang of guilt and generously offered to let Draco take a nap on the recliner. Only after Draco received Thea's assurance that she would wake him did he close his eyes with peace of mind.
Thea continued to take notes from her Quidditch books. The afternoon sun shone through the gauze curtains, gently illuminating the two children. The bright bouquets in the room, combined with the warm sunlight and the two little figures, one straight and one languid, created a scene as beautiful as an oil painting.
Draco slept for two hours before waking up. When he looked up, he found that Thea, who should have been there, was nowhere to be seen. A surge of anger and a barely perceptible worry welled up in his heart.
That "older sister" is so stupid, she doesn't even know Quidditch. Malfoy Manor is so big, what if she gets lost?
Realizing this possibility, Draco quickly dressed and hurried downstairs.
Just as Draco was about to call out "Mom" when he saw a familiar figure downstairs, his gaze was drawn to a dirty-looking person next to his mother.
Draco's anger surged instantly, and his tone turned harsh: "What have you been doing? Why are you so dirty?"
“Draco, watch your manners,” Narcissa immediately reminded him, but in Draco’s eyes, this was proof of his mother’s favoritism!
Draco, filled with anger and resentment, turned and left, not forgetting to give Thea a fierce glare before he went.
Thea was both amused and exasperated by this.
"I'm sorry, Thea, I've spoiled Draco rotten." Narcissa looked at her with some remorse.
Thea comforted him, saying, "Kids are all like that. Draco is very talented; he just can't figure things out right now."
Narcissa listened to Thea's advice and smiled with some relief, "Thea is also very good; she even knows how to comfort me."
Narcissa didn't say much to Thea, only reminding her to be careful next time she went to the garden and not to slip again.
In response to Narcissa's concern, Thea naturally nodded in agreement.
Seeing Narcissa walk towards Draco's room, Thea didn't follow to continue trying to persuade her. After all, it wasn't a big deal; they were mother and son, and she didn't need to get involved.
Thea could clearly see who was close and who was distant.
