Pokémon: Dreams Come True Starting in Sinnoh
Chapter 575 The Apple of Friendship
The warm lights of the Pokémon Center were left far behind as Piplup's small figure raced through the night.
The night wind whistled past my ears, carrying the cool, damp air unique to Lily of the Valley.
It didn't know where it was going, but Bogaman didn't care about anything else at the moment, as if this aimless running could shake off all its anxieties.
After running for an unknown amount of time, when his legs began to give way uncontrollably, Bogaman was panting heavily. His speed finally slowed down, and he staggered a few steps before stopping on a slope overgrown with weeds.
It looked up at the top of the slope and realized that it had unknowingly run to a small hill on the edge of Lily of the Valley.
Bogaman hesitated for a moment, but finally took a step and began to climb the cliff, swaying unsteadily.
Climbing was not easy, but at this moment it seemed to be holding back a lot of energy, determined to reach the highest point and see for itself.
As for what could be seen from the cliff? Pogaman didn't know.
Whether its own mood will improve or not, it doesn't know either.
But it just felt that it had to do something right now.
“Poga…Poga…”
Finally, panting heavily, Pogaman climbed to the top of the cliff.
In an instant, the boundless deep blue sea suddenly unfolded before its eyes, and the moonlight, like crumpled silver foil, sprinkled finely on the undulating sea, shimmering and flickering with the surging waves.
In the distance, where the sea meets the sky, it is a deep, inky blue, and further still, there is a profound, endless darkness.
The sea breeze blew, carrying the monotonous echo of waves crashing against the cliffs, which sounded exceptionally clear in the quiet night.
Such a magnificent view should have been breathtaking, but as Bogarman looked at the beautiful scenery before him, the inexplicable sadness in his chest grew stronger.
It silently walked to a protruding rock at the edge of the cliff, plopped down, and let its head sway gently in the sea breeze.
It just stared blankly into the distance, its azure eyes reflecting the leaping moonlight, yet still empty and unfocused.
“Poga…Poga…”
It murmured softly, its voice filled with confusion and bewilderment.
It doesn't understand why happy times are always so short?
Why did their journey have to end here?
There should at least be a little bit of buffer time, right?
Scenes from the past flashed through Pogaman's mind like a revolving lantern, chaotic yet clear.
Although it had companions when it was in the research institute, the communication was only superficial.
It wasn't until it embarked on the journey with Hikari, and created one memory after another with its travel companions, that it truly experienced a feeling it had never known before—
It's a feeling of having someone to share your joy when you're happy, making your happiness double; and having someone by your side to silently accompany you and share your sadness when you're down, so that you're never left alone in a state of loneliness and helplessness.
The feeling of being cherished and needed was something it had never experienced before.
As he thought about it, Bogaman felt a surge of heat in his eyes, and something wet welled up uncontrollably.
It hurriedly raised its little wings to wipe its eyes, but the wetness seemed unstoppable, increasing with each wipe.
Large tears slid down her cheeks, dripping onto the rock and spreading out a small, dark stain.
It seemed somewhat bewildered, its small body trembling slightly, and soft whimpers escaping its throat.
Just then, a very faint rustling sound came from behind Bogarman.
Bogarman felt a gentle pat on his back.
That power and feeling—Bogarman knew who it was without even saying it.
Although he knew who it was, Piplup didn't turn around or greet Pikachu as usual. Instead, with a stubborn, childlike sulking, he grunted "Pipe!" and turned his head to the side, as if refusing to have any interaction with Pikachu. But before he even realized it, Piplup had stopped sobbing.
Pikachu didn't mind, and simply walked from Piplup's back to Piplup's side and sat down next to it.
Pikachu tilted its head and glanced at Piplup's profile, which was clearly still upset, a thoughtful look flashing in its bright black eyes.
A moment later, Pikachu's eyes lit up as if it had come up with a good idea.
It quietly moved its tail behind Bogarman, and then a small cluster of faint but bright electric light suddenly burst from the tip of its tail.
"Poga—?!"
The sudden appearance of this light in the darkness startled Pogaman, who was immersed in grief.
It suddenly turned its head, instinctively shrinking back, and made a series of "Poga Poga!" sounds, as if expressing its dissatisfaction and protest.
However, when it saw the concerned smile on Pikachu's face, all of Piplup's protests were stuck in its throat.
The little bit of anger that had just been building up deflated instantly, like a punctured balloon.
Bogarman fell silent again, his head bowed once more.
It is this feeling.
Whenever he was sad, his companions would always find all sorts of ways to cheer him up, but this time, Bogarman didn't want to be happy again.
Seeing that Piplup still seemed down, Pikachu scratched its cheek and jumped off the rock again.
It was rustling and fiddling with something behind Pogaman, making a soft sound.
Pogaman forced himself to turn his head to the other side and close his eyes, pretending that he didn't care at all.
However, the next second, when Bogarman slowly opened his eyes, he saw half a bright red apple with a sweet aroma suddenly appear in front of him.
"Pegatron?" Piplup was stunned, blinked in confusion, and finally turned its gaze to Pikachu.
Pikachu was holding the other half of an apple in its tiny paws. It called out "Pika~" and gave Piplup a friendly smile, gesturing for it to try some.
It's obvious that Pikachu picked the apple while chasing after him.
Just then, Pogaman's stomach started rumbling loudly, much to his dismay.
After running for so long and crying for so long, it was indeed starving by this point.
The sweet aroma of apples kept wafting into its nose, tempting its taste buds.
Bogarman couldn't help but swallow hard. He looked at Pikachu's sincere eyes, then at the apple so close to his face, and struggled internally for a moment.
After hesitating for a long time, Piplup finally picked up the apple under Pikachu's watchful eye.
"Snap—"
With one bite, the crisp sound was exceptionally clear in the quiet night. The sweet juice burst forth instantly in the Pogaman's mouth, moistening its dry throat and seemingly dispelling the gloom that shrouded its heart.
So sweet...
Bogaman ate while thinking.
