Harry Potter: This senior is pretty strong

Chapter 7 The Trip to Gringotts

Qin Yu currently has two sums of money: one is the 1000 Galleons "scholarship" awarded by the system, and the other is the 500 pounds sterling sponsored by Mr. Granger.

It must be said that Mr. Granger is quite generous; £500 is a considerable sum these days, and a substantial amount for an average junior high school student. It's just unclear whether exchanging currency for Galleons in the Muggle world is convenient.

The money awarded by the system was kept in the Wizard Bank. Qin Yu only had a key to the vault, which was numbered 712.

After leaving the Granger family, Hagrid took Qin Yu onto the tram.

On the tram, Qin Yu asked, "Are we going to buy some things later? I might need to go to the Wizard's Bank first. I have some pounds, and..."

Hagrid was surprised and said, "You seem to know a lot about this. We do need to go to Diagon Alley to buy some things. I'll take you to Gringotts first. It's a bank run by goblins. Muggle money can be exchanged for a certain amount of Galleons there. However, there are many restrictions on the exchange. Fortunately, you are a first-year student. With your admission letter, they will give you a certain amount of money to exchange."

Qin Yu nodded, then asked curiously, "I've heard that goblins can use magic. Who is more powerful, goblins or wizards?"

“Yes, goblins’ magic is an ancient form of magic, and they have a certain talent for it! However, they are still quite weak in the face of some powerful wizards.” Hagrid’s tone was somewhat unconvinced.

"Oh, I see."

“Of course, Gringotts, guarded by goblins, is quite safe. You can store your money and valuables there without worrying about them being stolen,” Hagrid added.

Little did he know that he had unwittingly set a flag for Gringotts that could collapse at any moment.

The two chatted in the car, and Qin Yu learned more about the wizarding world and what kind of school supplies he should buy.

……

After the tram stopped at a certain station, Hagrid led Qin Yu off the tram and through a maze of turns to a place that looked dirty and messy.

Hagrid pointed ahead and said, "This is the Leaky Cauldron. We'll go from here to Diagon Alley in a bit, where you can buy everything you need."

Looking at this inconspicuous place, Qin Yu thought to himself, "This is too narrow. How can it be like a bar? And can someone as big as Hagrid fit in?"

Only wizards can see this place; it seems that even Muggles passing by can't see it at all. Before he could speak, Hagrid pushed him inside.

As soon as Qin Yu stepped inside, his head started buzzing because it was incredibly noisy.

Everyone was chatting idly, one group talking loudly about how there was no one left in the wizarding world, that even Cornelius Fudge could become Minister of Magic, while another said mysteriously that it was because Dumbledore had no interest in power and only wanted to stay at Hogwarts and teach children to make potions.

Qin Yu wanted to hear what they were going to say next, but Hagrid showed no sign of stopping and strode forward.

The bar owner, seeing them, greeted Hagrid warmly and offered him a drink, but Hagrid waved his hand and said, "I have something to do, let's drink another day!"

Hagrid felt a strange sense of mission in taking the young wizard shopping, especially since it was a task assigned by Dumbledore! He actually wanted to go for a drink or two, but business came first!

After Hagrid nodded in acknowledgment, he led Qin Yu toward the bar. After going around it, they arrived at a place that looked like a dead end.

Qin Yu was certainly aware of this famous scene.

Sure enough, Hagrid took an umbrella, tapped the bricks on the wall with the tip of the umbrella, and muttered some incantations. Suddenly, the bricks on the wall rearranged, revealing an arched doorway. On the other side of the doorway appeared a road, with various small shops with signs on both sides.

"Hurry up, little guy, we don't have much time left," Hagrid urged.

Then, Qin Yu excitedly followed Hagrid through the door and into the legendary "Diagon Alley".

But after they went inside, the doorway closed automatically.

……

Besides the magic school, Diagon Alley was the place Qin Yu most wanted to visit. There were many novelties there, more interesting than the Muggle shops. As they walked down the street, Qin Yu wished he had eight more eyes. He looked around, and all the shops, the objects in front of them, and the shoppers were very similar to what he had seen in the movies, yet also very different.

The unique aura of the magical world left Qin Yu momentarily bewildered and mesmerized.

"This is Gringotts Bank!" Hagrid's voice brought Qin Yu back to his senses.

Qin Yu looked up and saw that they had arrived in front of a white building. This building was much taller than the surrounding shops, standing out like a crane among chickens.

A fairy stood at the entrance to greet guests. The fairy was shorter than Qin Yu, who was the same age, and had a pointed beard, long fingers, and long feet.

When Qin Yu and Hagrid walked in, the fairy bowed to them.

"Hi!" Qin Yu waved and greeted him subconsciously.

Arriving at the second door, Qin Yu thought to himself, "As expected, banks are always the most impressive, no matter where they are. Even the doors here are silver. But the words engraved on this door are quite interesting. It reads: 'Please enter, stranger, but beware of the consequences of greed…'"

The following sentence is something like, "Don't mess with me, I'm super fierce."

After Qin Yu walked in, he looked at the fairy employees sitting on both sides and muttered, "There are really a lot of employees here!"

Behind the counter were dozens or even hundreds of fairies, all looking very focused, completely ignoring those who were not involved!

"The way someone manages money really makes a difference!"

Hagrid chimed in, "Alright, I just asked. The front counter is where you exchange Galleons!"

Qin Yu followed the gaze and saw an elderly, demonic-looking man sitting behind the innermost counter. He was dressed in an elegant suit, with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on his pointed nose. His eyes exuded a sense of authority as he stared intently at people, as if he could see right through them.

Qin Yu had already taken the money out of his pocket. Although he didn't like these demons, he still had to follow the rules here!

These fairies, perhaps because of their short stature, made the counter much taller than Qin Yu's, so Qin Yu had no choice but to hand the money to Hagrid for him to handle.

The fairy sitting on top asked, "What are you going to do?"

Hagrid said, "We're here to exchange Galleons. This is Mr. Qin Yu, who will be attending Hogwarts School soon!"

The fairy sized up Qin Yu and carefully examined his admission notice before saying in a rather emotionless tone, "You have a 50 Galleons exchange quota."

"Huh? So little?" Qin Yu was somewhat surprised.

Hagrid had just told him that the current exchange rate for pounds to gallons is 5:1, so does that mean he can only exchange for 250 pounds?

“Young wizard, you must understand that finance is a dangerous thing. We cannot allow the currency of the Muggle world to have too much influence on the wizarding world, and the same applies to the Muggle world,” the goblin explained in a cold tone.

"Is there any way to increase the exchange limit?" Qin Yu pressed.

“Of course. For example, if you have an account at Gringotts and there are certain funds or items in that account, we can increase your exchange limit by 10% of the total value of those assets,” the fairy said slowly.

Upon hearing this, Qin Yu took out his vault key, stood on tiptoe, and handed it over.
