Harry Potter: This senior is pretty strong

Chapter 45 Quidditch Match (Part 1)

November 9th, Saturday.

Early in the morning, Professor Dumbledore received a letter from the Ministry of Magic, or more precisely from Wizengamor, informing him to go to London for an emergency meeting.

In fact, many wizards are unclear about the status of "Wizengamor" within the Ministry of Magic. Nominally, it is the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, a division under the Ministry of Magic, which in turn oversees prominent agencies such as the Office of Aurors and the Office for the Prohibition of Muggle-like Matters. —George and Fred's father, Arthur Weasley, was the director of the Office for the Prohibition of Muggle-like Matters.

However, despite appearing to be on par with the other institutions, Wizengamo has a significant uniqueness because its members are all highly accomplished. The chief wizard is Dumbledore, the foremost wizard in the wizarding world, and the other members are equally impressive, including the Minister of Magic, the Deputy Minister, and senior officials from various departments, as well as some other renowned wizards. It is a formidable force, and its function is to periodically conduct trials, discussions, and votes on major events.

Most importantly, Wizengamor was established long before the Ministry of Magic, making it a very early power structure in the wizarding world.

Therefore, Wisengamour is a very transcendent and special figure in the entire Ministry of Magic.

The fact that a letter has suddenly arrived here proves that something important must have happened at the Ministry of Magic, and Professor Dumbledore certainly wouldn't dare to be negligent.

So he delegated the task of giving the opening speech at the Quidditch match to Professor McGonagall, the Vice-Headmaster and Head of Gryffindor House, while he rushed to the Whitehall crypt in central London, where the British Ministry of Magic was located. Whether he entered through the toilet like ordinary Ministry staff remained unknown to outsiders.

……

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! I hereby declare the first Quidditch match of the year at Hogwarts officially open!" Professor McGonagall gently pressed her wand to her throat, casting a loud voice spell to make her voice resonate throughout the entire Quidditch pitch.

As Professor McGonagall's brief opening remarks faded, a deafening roar of cheers erupted from the stadium.

"Now, please welcome the players from Gryffindor and Slytherin, as well as the referee, Ms. Hooch, to the field!" Professor McGonagall announced again.

Then, the players from both sides, along with the referees, a total of fifteen people, entered the center of the field one by one, each carrying a flying broom.

Professor McGonagall returned to her seat.

"duo~"

Mrs. Hooch blew her silver whistle, and the competition officially began!

Fourteen players from Gryffindor and Slytherin rose swiftly into the sky on flying broomsticks, releasing a huge Quake, two smaller black Runners, and a small golden winged ball.

"Go, Gryffindor!" "Victory is certain, Slytherin!"

Students from both colleges cheered for their respective teams!

……

"Hello everyone, I'm Linda Zhu from Hufflepuff, a fifth-grader, and I'll be your commentator for today! I hope you all like me!" A pretty girl with long, burgundy hair said with a smile from the commentary booth.

"Hello everyone, I'm Monnie Wanda from Ravenclaw, a third-year student, and I'll be your second commentator today!" said another cool-looking girl with short chestnut hair in a cheerful voice.

The Quidditch arena is so large, and the players are constantly flying around, that even if the audience sits very high, it's difficult to see all the details of the game. Therefore, commentators are essential, because the commentary booth has the best view and is aided by magical items that allow them to see many things that are difficult for others to see.

“...Now, the game has just begun, and we can see that the players on both sides are not fighting too fiercely for the ball. Currently, the Quaffle is in the hands of Slytherin’s Chaser, Derian Pursey. Derian Pursey has several games of experience and joined Slytherin’s Quidditch team last year…” Linda Zhu said.

“That’s right, last time in the game against our Ravenclaw team, Puse scored a really beautiful goal, while our goalkeeper was practically asleep…” Moni Wanda said with a hint of resentment.

Hearing her words, many people on the field couldn't help but laugh, while the Ravenclaw students looked at the short-haired girl on the commentary stand with some annoyance.

However, this is indeed the case. Ravenclaw's Quidditch team has been in a period of decline in the last two years, and the level of its players cannot be compared with that of Gryffindor and Slytherin. They can only get beaten on the field.

However, this girl named Moni Wanda is really awful. How could she talk about her own college's team like that?

“Monnie, you can’t say that. Ravenclaw’s performance in the last match was quite commendable…” Linda Zhu smoothed things over, then expertly changed the subject, “So, let’s turn our attention back to the field. Puse is now carrying the ball toward the Gryffindor goalpost. Monnie, do you think he can score?”

Upon hearing this, Monnie immediately shook her head and said, "It's difficult. Gryffindor's vice-captain, Oliver Wood, is a very experienced goalkeeper. He's currently performing his classic 'double figure-eight' maneuver, tightly guarding all three goalposts. Look, Puse is already hesitating about which goalpost to throw at—wait, isn't that Gryffindor's Angelina Johnson? What is she doing?—Angelina rushed over! She stole the Quaffle?!—My God, this little girl who just passed the team selection a little over a month ago actually stole the Quaffle from Puse's hands!"

Just as Puse hesitated, Angelina sped up and snatched the Quaffle. Seeing this, Mona Wanda, who had been giving a serious commentary, instantly became excited.

Cheers also erupted from the Gryffindor stands.

“She’s great!” Linda said.

"No, she's brave! A young girl who just joined the team dared to steal the ball from a veteran player. That takes a lot of courage!" Moni said with admiration.

“That’s right, that’s right! Quidditch is a sport that requires courage!” Linda nodded in agreement.

"Compared to Angelina's courage, the male players on the field don't seem very proactive. Look at our Captain Charlie Weasley, he's still leisurely searching for the Golden Snitch in the sky."

"Um, Monnie, it's not nice of you to say that about Captain Weasley. After all, the Golden Snitch isn't easy to find."

"Hehe, it's okay. Charlie and I are distant cousins. From what I know, he has a really good temper, and he doesn't have a girlfriend yet. I can help you arrange a date sometime..."

"Monnie!" Professor McGonagall, who was sitting not far away, couldn't help but speak in a deep voice as she heard the child's topic veer off course.

“I’m sorry, Professor McGonagall!” Monnie said, sticking out her tongue.

After Angelina got the ball, she flew towards the Slytherin goalpost with all her might.

However, Slytherin's three Chaser followed closely behind.

“Oh no, Angelina is in danger…” Linda said with great concern.

"Angelina needs help! She's having a hard time getting past the three Slytherin players on her own—oh no, the Slytherin beaters are closing in!"

Before Monnie could finish speaking, a burly Slytherin batter had already moved closer and swung his bat, striking a nearby stray ball hard.

The ball whistled as it hurtled toward Angelina Johnson, who was being surrounded and blocked.

Just then, a figure suddenly appeared from the side, blocking Angelina's path, and swung a baseball bat, knocking the ball away with a "thud".

Upon seeing this, Monnie immediately shouted, "It's Gryffindor's batter, George Weasley! He saved Angelina from being hit by the wandering ball at the crucial moment!"

“That’s fantastic! But Monnie, how did you recognize him as George Weasley? He looks a lot like his twin brother, and they’re both Gryffindor batters.”

“It’s very simple. George’s nose is slightly higher than Fred’s, and his eyes are different sizes. It’s easy to tell them apart. I discovered this secret last summer when I stayed at the Weasleys’ house. You might doubt it, but I have to say, my eyes are like microscopes. I saw that he was George at a glance!” Monnie said with considerable pride.

Professor McGonagall sighed, unsure whether to stop their conversation.

Meanwhile, George, who was flying in the sky, looked at the commentary booth with a headache.

There was nothing he could do; he really couldn't afford to offend this distant cousin. She had caused them a lot of trouble last summer, including him, Fred, and Ron, who were both traumatized by her.

Angelina dribbled straight ahead, but after throwing the ball, her Quake was blocked by the Slytherin goalkeeper.

The Slytherin students in the stands cheered, while the Gryffindor students expressed their regret.

"It's okay, just focus on defense, George!" Qin Yu flew past George and comforted him.

"Ah."

George nodded, then whispered, "Qin, shall we use that?"

At this moment, the one who got the Quaffle was Marcus Flint of Slytherin. This guy was tall, big and fierce.

"Okay, I'll stay there and wait for my signal." After saying that, Qin Yu quickly flew towards a certain location ahead.

Marcus, protected by two other chasers, charged toward the Gryffindor goalpost in an arrowhead pattern.

Thanks to the explanation of veteran Quidditch fan and commentator #2, Moni Wanda, many students who didn't know much about the rules understood that this was the troublesome "Eagle Head Offensive Formation".

Over at the Gryffindor stands.

"Excuse me, excuse me, please let me through!" Hagrid's massive body squeezed through the crowd.

"Hagrid! We're here!" Elvis saw Hagrid and beckoned him over.

After that "candy party," Qin Yu's roommates had gotten to know Haige, so they were very enthusiastic when they saw him.

"Hagrid, why are you only arriving now?" Jimmy asked curiously.

“Something came up in the Forbidden Forest this morning and I was held up,” Hagrid replied.

"Could something have happened to the unicorn?" Wilson asked with some concern.

"Oh, no, it's the centaurs. Something seems to have happened. I went over to inquire, but they sent me back," Hagrid said helplessly.

After saying this, Hagrid muttered, "I don't really want to get involved in their affairs; they have a really bad temper."

“Then let’s ignore them and watch the game. Hagrid, can you hold up the banner for us?” Elvis said.

“Okay!” Hagrid nodded happily.

Then he took a banner from Elvis and held it high above his head.
