In the Parisian mornings, the sun generously spills onto the streets along the Seine, golden dappled sunlight dancing through the gaps in the tree-lined avenues, giving an exquisite start to an ordinary day.

Gu Tingyu pushed the stroller, with little Chengze sitting inside, looking around curiously. His little hand would occasionally point to pedestrians on the roadside or pigeons flying by, babbling to express his discoveries.

They were heading to a nearby park where a regular gathering took place—several fathers with children would get together at this time of week to let their kids play while they chatted and exchange parenting tips.

“Hey, Ting! Over here!” A tall, blond man waved to him from afar.

That was Alex, an architect from Sweden who came to the city because his wife worked in Paris.

His daughter, Sophia, is a few months older than Chengze and is already toddling around.

Several children were already playing on the lawn in the park.

François, a French painter, is teaching his twin sons how to build sandcastles.

Marco—an Italian chef—carefully watches over his one-year-old son to prevent him from putting sand in his mouth.

"Good morning, everyone." Gu Tingyu took Xiao Chengze out of the stroller and placed him on a clean blanket.

The little guy immediately crawled towards the other children, clearly having recognized them.

“Chengze looks especially energetic today,” Alex said with a smile. “Did those balance exercises I taught you last time work?”

Gu Tingyu nodded: "It's very effective. He can now stand up while holding onto the sofa and stay upright for a few seconds."

When talking about his son's progress, a hint of pride involuntarily crept into his voice.

“That’s great!” Alex patted his shoulder. “When Sophia first started learning to walk, I was more nervous than she was, afraid she would fall.”

Later I realized that instead of worrying, it was better to let her try it herself. Falling a few times was okay; it would actually help her develop her balance more quickly.

The group chatted casually, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

Gu Tingyu watched as Xiao Chengze crawled on the lawn, and a sense of peace and contentment welled up inside him.

In the few months since arriving in Paris, he feels like he has rediscovered life.

There are no endless meetings, no never-ending business engagements, and no constant business calculations to be wary of. There is only the ordinary yet precious daily life—accompanying my son as he grows up, supporting my wife's career, and managing a warm home.

This lifestyle was completely different from his previous life, but it gave him a wonderful sense of relief, as if he had unloaded some invisible burden.

“By the way, are you free this weekend?” Alex asked. “My wife suggested we have a picnic and take the kids to the forest park on the outskirts of the city.”

There's a small zoo there that's great for kids; Sofia had a blast when she went last time.

“Sounds good,” Gu Tingyu nodded. “I need to confirm with Maggie, but it should be fine.”

“Great!” Alex exclaimed happily. “Marco agreed to make the Italian sandwiches, I’ll take care of the salad, François will bring the wine, and you and Maggie can bring some desserts.”

Gu Tingyu smiled and agreed, already planning his weekend itinerary.

He enjoys this simple way of socializing—no business motives, no backstabbing, just a few friends and family spending pleasant time together.

Interacting with these fathers from different countries and industries also gave him new perspectives and experiences.

Alex taught him how to develop a child's sense of balance; François shared his methods for early art education; and Marco taught him how to make healthy food suitable for babies.

These are things he couldn't learn in the business world, but they are incredibly precious to his current life.

The sunlight gradually moved away, and the children, tired from playing, began to get a little restless. Gu Tingyu checked the time; it was time to go home.

"See you this weekend, everyone." He said goodbye to his friends and carefully put the already drowsy little Chengze back into the stroller.

On his way home, Gu Tingyu came across several newly opened shops, one of which, a handmade chocolate shop, particularly caught his attention.

Knowing that Sumaiqi especially liked dark chocolate, he decided to go in and take a look.

The shop displays handmade chocolates of various shapes and flavors, so exquisite they resemble works of art.

On the recommendation of the shop assistant, Gu Tingyu chose a box of dark chocolate with rose petals and sea salt.

When they got home, Xiao Chengze was already asleep.

Gu Tingyu gently placed him in the crib and then began preparing lunch.

He chose simple and healthy ingredients—fresh vegetables, a good steak, and vegetable soup that had been simmering over a low flame all morning.

The aroma of scallions and garlic filled the kitchen, creating a warm afternoon scene together with the sunlight.

When Su Maiqi returned home that evening, an enticing aroma wafted from the kitchen.

Xiao Chengze has already taken a bath and is wearing clean pajamas, playing with building blocks on the blanket in the living room.

"How was your day?" Gu Tingyu asked as he expertly stirred the food in the pan.

Sumaiqi leaned against the kitchen doorframe, admiring her husband's busy figure: "It went very smoothly. Mario was very satisfied with my design, saying it was exactly what they wanted."

“That’s wonderful,” Gu Tingyu turned back and smiled at her. “I’ve always believed in your talent.”

After dinner, they put Xiao Chengze to sleep as usual, and then shared a glass of red wine on the balcony, watching the lights of the Eiffel Tower twinkle in the distance.

“I ran into Alex and his group this morning,” Gu Tingyu said softly. “They invited us to a picnic this weekend, and to bring the kids.”

Su Maiqi's eyes lit up: "That sounds good. My work just finished this week, so I can go with you guys."

They discussed their recent work plans. Su Maiqi shared new developments in the collaboration with the Spanish brand, while Gu Tingyu offered some suggestions on how to leverage the project to open up international markets.

“I think we can use this collaboration as a pilot project,” Gu Tingyu analyzed. “By leveraging El Encanto de España’s influence in Europe, we can first establish a foothold in the Western European market and then expand to North America.”

Once Chenxing gains international recognition, it can then support the domestic market and enhance its brand position.

Su Maiqi nodded, her eyes gleaming with excitement: "That's exactly what I was thinking! The domestic market is already dominated by big brands. Instead of going head-to-head, we should take a roundabout approach, first building our reputation internationally, and then returning to the domestic market."

The two became increasingly engrossed in their conversation, and before they knew it, it was late at night. Gu Tingyu got up to pour himself a glass of water in the kitchen, and upon returning, casually opened his laptop to check his emails.

“Mo Yan sent me a new financial statement,” he said while browsing the email. “Chenxing’s operations are very stable, and third-quarter revenue was 15% higher than expected.”

It seems that our previously established management system and checks and balances mechanism have been effective.

Su Maiqi leaned on his shoulder as they looked at the data on the screen together: "With Mo Yan over there keeping an eye on things, we can focus on developing new projects here with peace of mind."

Actually, I'm very grateful for your decision back then. Decentralizing company power and establishing a system of checks and balances allowed Chenxing to operate smoothly even without our direct management.

Gu Tingyu grasped her hand: "This is a fundamental principle of business. A healthy organization should not overly rely on any one individual, including the founder."

Su Maiqi went in to take a shower, while Gu Tingyu continued browsing his emails. Suddenly, his expression changed.

Mo Yan sent an email: Shen Qingshuo and Su Wanyu got married.

Gu Tingyu's expression visibly darkened.
