Chapter 337 Awkwardness and Tacit Understanding

The lines at Disneyland were bustling with activity, filled with laughter and excited screams.

Two hours had passed since Lin Manlin's sudden "disappearance," and Mo Yan could clearly sense that Su Mailou's condition had been somewhat off ever since Lin Manlin made an excuse to leave.

Her smile remained gentle, and her demeanor remained proper, but the natural ease she exuded had quietly disappeared.

She kept glancing at her watch, as if calculating when Lin Manlin would return.

While waiting in line for the carousel, Duoduo excitedly grabbed Mo Yan's arm and jumped around: "Uncle Mo, I want to ride that golden horse!"

Mo Yan bent down to look the little girl in the eye, smiled, and promised: "Okay, let's find that golden horse together later, and Uncle will take a picture for you."

He casually took out a tissue and gently wiped the ice cream stains from Duoduo's mouth. He then took a bottle of water from his backpack, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to her: "Drink some water first, don't get thirsty."

Su Mairou stood aside, quietly watching this scene, her heart filled with complex emotions.

Mo Yan's feelings were actually quite complicated.

On the one hand, he envied Lin Manlin.

Whenever Lin Manlin and Su Mairou are together, Su Mairou always appears very genuine and relaxed, revealing a childlike innocence and liveliness.

That smile was genuine, completely unguarded.

When facing him, Su Mairou would smile, but she always carried a hint of restraint and vigilance, as if she were ready to build a defensive line at any time.

On the other hand, he vaguely sensed that Su Mairou's nervousness at this moment might just be a sign that she was not indifferent to him.

Otherwise, why would being alone with her make her so uncomfortable?

Lost in thought, Mo Yan decided to pretend nothing was wrong for the time being and focus all his attention on Duo Duo and the amusement park rides, hoping that this would help Su Mailou relax.

"Mommy, look at that castle over there! It's so beautiful!" Duoduo excitedly pointed into the distance, pulling on Su Mairou's arm.

Su Mairou looked in the direction her daughter was pointing and nodded with a smile: "It really is beautiful. Shall we go for a stroll over to the castle later?"

"Great! Great!" Duoduo clapped her hands happily, then turned to Mo Yan, "Uncle Mo, will there be a real princess in the castle?"

Mo Yan gently ruffled the little girl's hair: "Yes, there will be. I've heard that different princesses appear in the castle every day. If we're lucky, maybe we'll see Sleeping Beauty or Snow White."

Duo Duo's eyes lit up immediately, and she excitedly waved her arms and legs.

As the procession moved slowly forward, Su Mairou overheard a conversation between two mothers behind her.

"Look at that dad, so thoughtful! He's so lucky," a woman wearing sunglasses murmured.

"Yes, my husband is busy making money every day and doesn't have time to spend with the kids. He thinks it's already a big deal to pay the bills." Another woman chimed in, her tone full of envy.

The sound wasn't loud, but it reached Su Mairou's ears clearly.

She subconsciously turned around and met the envious looks from the two mothers.

For a moment, Su Mairou felt a little embarrassed.

Instinctively, she wanted to explain their relationship—Mo Yan was just a friend, not Duo Duo's father.

But if you swallow the words back before you can say them, it would seem abrupt and ridiculous.

She fell silent, merely pursed her lips slightly, and continued walking forward.

Mo Yan also overheard the conversation between the two mothers and couldn't help but glance at Su Mairou.

He noticed her slightly reddened earlobes and somewhat awkward posture, and his heart stirred, but he said nothing.

Next, when riding the carousel, Duoduo got to ride the golden pony as she wished, her eyes narrowing into slits with excitement.

Mo Yan stood to the side, supporting Duoduo with one hand and taking pictures of her with the other.

Thinking about the conversation with the woman earlier, Su Mailou instinctively wanted to take better care of Duoduo.

But his daughter seemed to prefer being with Mo Yan.

Whenever there's a new project, Duoduo always goes to Moyan's hand first to tell him her thoughts and expectations.

"Uncle Mo, that pirate ship is so cool! Shall we go play on it?"

Uncle Mo, I'm thirsty, could you buy me a drink?

Uncle Mo, could you hold this balloon for me? I want to watch the performance over there.

Su Mairou felt a little helpless. After all, she, as the mother, had been with Duoduo day and night and no longer cared about such things.

She didn't have many opportunities to spend time with Mo Yan, and this trip to Disneyland was a gift from Mo Yan to Duoduo.

It's natural for her to cling to him.

Mo Yan noticed Su Mailou's behavior and attitude. He could imagine that she was afraid that others would misunderstand her relationship with Duoduo, and felt embarrassed, so she wanted to take on more of the responsibilities of a mother.

He wanted to say something, but didn't know how to begin.

Around noon, the three of them had lunch at a Disney-themed restaurant.

The restaurant is decorated in a fairytale style, with cartoon characters everywhere and cute tableware.

Duoduo ordered a Mickey Mouse-shaped children's meal and ate it happily.

But soon, the fatigue from the morning's play began to show; her movements became slower, and her little head started to nod.

"It seems someone needs to rest," Mo Yan said softly, looking tenderly at the exhausted Duo Duo.

Su Mairou nodded: "It's time to go back to the hotel and rest. There are still many places to visit this afternoon."

After paying the bill, the three left the restaurant.

On the way back to the hotel, Duoduo's pace slowed down, and her little face was full of fatigue.

"Duoduo, do you want Uncle to carry you?" Mo Yan squatted down and asked softly.

The little girl immediately nodded and wrapped her arms around Mo Yan's neck.

Mo Yan steadily carried her on his back, letting her little head rest on his shoulder.

In less than five minutes, Duoduo fell asleep on Mo Yan's back, breathing evenly.

Su Mairou walked to the side, glancing up at Duoduo from time to time, then at Mo Yan's serious profile.

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting a warm and harmonious scene upon them.

At that moment, Su Mairou suddenly felt a slight warmth in her chest.

Back at the hotel, Mo Yan carefully placed Duo Duo on the bed and covered her with a blanket, his movements as gentle as if he were afraid of disturbing a butterfly.

Looking at the sleeping Duoduo, Mo Yan turned to Su Mailou and said softly, "I am happy to stay with Duoduo, not just because I like her."

It's also because she brings me so much joy, allowing me to relax like a child. &34;

He paused, his gaze softening with sincerity: "Don't feel pressured. No matter what our relationship is, I'm happy to stay with Duoduo. You should rest too; we'll continue our visit at 34:34."

After saying that, Mo Yan quietly left the room and gently closed the door.
